Can't every Test be in Dubai - this has been a great Test. Action on a regular basis, enough to keep the viewer interested.

This day alone has been more exciting than the 4 days of the Abu Dhabi borefest.

Relax, it's 219-3 tehnically

I am not worried about this match yet, but a trailer of what to expect on green. Chance of 4-0 against England. If we have Amir/Asif along with Wahab/Yasir, maybe we can win one test.

Dreading the England tour next summer

I am struggle to see how paks batting line up will score over 150 in any innings

Completely agree.

Yeah..I get your point but our bowling would be stronger

Typical Hafeez innings - A few good shots looking comfortable then out comes the fishing rod.
From our top 3 84-3 is on par. The real batting starts now.

Azhar,Shafiq and Misbah have done well in England in the past.

I'm worried about Malik Sarfraz and Hafeez/Shehzad.

There will be no spinners in England for Misbah and Anderson will have a field day against the line up

Why they play short pitch bowling so pathetically??

At our level we love short pitch, that's hit me delivery for us.

Mark wood is bowling well, in this innings as well

Misbah & YK are old. Hardly ever play it. Same with Shafiq and Azhar really.

Only good pullers are Hafeez, Shehzad, Akmal & Babar.

Short delivery coming at 140+ is hard to manage.

Do you have 90 mph bowlers bowling bouncers at your head at your level?

Rashid's action looks really weird.

He would never make the Pakistani team.
Doubt his prolonged stay in the English team as well. Bowls really slow!

It's the Shane Warne effect.

A generation of young spinners grew up wanting to bowl just like him and coaches decided that because he was the best ever, everybody should copy his style. So instead of jogging in, they walk gently to the crease. Instead of bouncing and jumping through the crease they conserve energy.

It totally ignores the fact that Warne was a freak of nature who could generate incredible power from his shoulder and wrist from a gentle run-up.

Look at the difference in how Yasir and Rashid approach the crease and you'll have an answer as to why Yasir bowls that little bit faster.

Misbah looking ungainly against Rashid bhai, but I suspect a slog to Cow Corner is imminent.

It's adorable when people link international cricket to the cricket they play in their daily lives.

Yeah, same goes for all those hacks in domestic trying to emulate Lala.

On these wickets it's not that hard.

Secondly they play 75-80 mph short pitch the same way as well. Premeditatedly ducking, no game plane of actually ever playing now it.

Yeah, kinda like the Saqlain effect for off-spinners.
Kills their careers.

It's harder on this pitch, actually.
Bounce is uneven.

That's shot of the day, nothing like an on-drive to show your class.

Is it only me, or did someone noticed, that Misbah wears the old kind of helmet, which exposes the part of head on which Phil Hughes got hit. Didnt PCB took any measures, to provide all players with these helmets ( i dont mean to be a PCB basher), or is it up to the individual liking? Maybe i sound a bit too hypothetical, but with English bowlers using mainly the boucer as a delivery to trouble the batsman, i just came to this thought. Not wanting to foresee any of such incidents, which god forbid no one should experience.

Again, im not meaning to put the attention back to this tragic incident, thus it may be absorbed offensive by some posters - just an observation.

Wood has been really impressive, excellent find for Eng.

A lead of 350 should be enough, hope Sarfraz is sent in next to up the tempo.

Pak 92/3 - lead 228

We need to bat solidly for atleast another 2 sessions here.

I am pretty good of guy now. But we have seen these Asian players come to play here in USA. They are not good at short pitch, there technique is poor, it's not speed. Too much on the front foot, don't have back foot game. You can control them on back foot.

It was surprising to see international players not so good with short and back of length bowling specially guys from India and Pakistan.

Great shot by Younis to end the session. Insha'Allah King and Younis will have another big partnership.

I meant pretty old now in first sentence

"In Asia, excluding Bangladesh, only three non-Asian teams have chased more in the fourth innings to win - in 363 Tests."

Asian players have a strong front foot game; flicking of the wrists is more common than hammering a bouncer.
Hafeez is probably the only one that does it with authority in the team.

shehzad is also a good puller n hooker.
in fact he is very strong of the back foot
kami, another one

That doesn't mean a thing.
One of the many reasons for sitting out from the test team.

Did you watch the Lanka series? He smashed 4's and then tuk-tuked and then back to hitting fours... Didn't rotate the strike very well.

Azhar Not Hafeez. Azhar has best over all game against pace; sound defense, pull, cut and drive. That's why I wanted him to open in Odis specially after two new balls.

For similar reason I want Harris to be in top 3/4 in test, he has very sound defense against pace. He plays late and watch the ball till end. He need to work on playing short ball, but that is true for everybody.

azhar cant score off the short ball, can duck n fend okayish which is why he has survived.
haris is also poor on the short ball
in this facet, hafeez trumps both so called best players of pace

He does not go after short ball in test, but in odi he does that all the time and better than Shezad or Hafeez.

His pull and cut are superior than rest. Hook is variation of pull, most Asian don't go for it, since they don't have too specially in test.

These two should aspire to extend the lead around 350 today, then Sarfraz and Shafiq to add a quickfire 50-60 in first session tomorrow and declare.

Rashid's pace is pretty slow(75-80), he is not going to cause problem at the pace. He needs to bowl more like 83-90

Why declare?? - if we declare that would be well into the after lunch session, close to tea. The more you bowl on 5th day easier to get wickets.

Pakistan need atleast a lead of 450

orly.gif

"Da paisu spee dey"

Means every player nowadays has only one goal and that is to maximize their income in whatever way they can, they're literally dogs running after $$$

I'm not going to begrudge someone earning more sponsorship money if all they have to do it show the back of their bat instead of the face.

Pakistan need to look to bat until tea tomorrow get a 450 lead and give themselves 4 sessions to bowl out England.

Amir, Riaz, Junaid/Asif/Mir Hamza/Rahat and Shah will win us the series against England if the batting holds up. If Sri Lanka can win a series, I don't see any reason why we can't either.

As for Australia, if they lay out the same flat tracks that India were served, our batsmen will pile on the runs if they can get over the mental pressure of batting in Australia. Riaz will give Australia a whole serving of their own medicine in Perth.
