Hafeez is replacing Asif but how come he isnt playing the same role as Asif and that is coming at 4 down and smacking it. With Malik, Hafeez and Sarfaraz the middle order is really vulnerable and that with inexperienced top 3 isnt gonna do any good. Its easy to say for us but who should be dropped to accomodate Haris, its a tough call considering the form of hafeez and malik's last two years. But, obviously some tough calls are to be made.

Southee is a senior player and Henry isn't seen as a good third bowling option. Milne and Lockie are preferred for the role because of their pace which brings something different to the attack.

Let me put it this way. There is no playing XI/combination in the country that can beat the top teams in ODIs unless the said teams have off-days.

We can do better with the selection, but the truth is that the quality is not there. Look at Haris - he is hyped up and he indeed should be in the XI, but the fact is that he is never going to score a 130* in this situation to take the team home.

He might have down slightly better and that would have made our fans happy, but the end result is the same. There is no genuine world class/elite player in the country today. Not a single one, especially in the shorter formats.

Same is true for T20Is as well. This drama of being the number one in the world will end soon - it is only a matter of playing a series (not a one-off game) against the likes of England and India, who are clearly superior.

In fact, New Zealand could have won the series had they played Boult. His new ball spell could have been decisive, but then again, only minnows play their A list players all the time in T20Is.

Enough of the nagging... We beat the teams in T20 fair and square noone asked not to play their top teams.. Could have, should have... can be put to rest now. We beat them hands down now

We struggle in ODIs that's a reality too

Kiwis got at least 25 more than critical number, therefore they are going all-out for wickets. This is one area I don't like in PAK's ODI team - never try to put pressure on new batsman and allows a partnership to build, which sometime works while defending total, but batting first most teams will put a partnership & take the game out of reach in last few overs.

Apart from that one Test series in SL, Starc hasn't really been as much of a force he's in LOI's. Boult is brilliant in all 3 formats.
I remember when he debuted back in 2011, his pace used to be around late 120 and early 130s, now he's cranking up to 140ks.

You keep bringing up 2018. Fakhar scored two fifties in the first 3 ODIs which were in December. As for Babar, he had his lone poor series in NZ, in Asia Cup he was average and today he was unlucky. These two might be in poor form but they are the two best in Pakistan, not some overyhyped minnow-bashers.
