We should draw this because we lost only 1 wicket in 43 overs today....and we have only 47 overs to go....we know we can draw the test match easily........!!!

yes..that wont be a problem now....but 4 wickets down with 40 overs left and a new ball ?

Thats the problem with taking risks at this stage...

We went too slowly in that session. Just a tad too slowly.

RR should have been 3.25 or so. 25-30 runs short.

We have plenty of batting to come so hopefully they start taking some risks when we come back.

Smith seems content with drying up the runs. SA don't even look interested in taking a wicket.

I think right now they are trying to preserve the series and make pakistan play risky cricket......if a wicket falls though another could fall quickly...and with that panic will surely set in.....south africa could still quite likely win this...
 
nie to see a fight for a change.. harris is bowling negative leg stump lines and going at 1 an over which means half the overs are gone.
 
SA playing smart cricket. They know a wicket will bring 2 and panic could set in. Would love to see Smiths face if Pak won
 
We mis Afridi in this situation. A cameo by him could have been ideal in this situation to score some quick runs.
I hope they give it a go before putting the breaks and go for the draw. Maybe send Misba to make the charge next.

No, we shouldn't go for a draw. I have said it so many times, you can not win matches by being defensive every time. They were defensive in Karachi in the final inning and were bowled out cheaply.

It's time to play a positive game, and go for the win. A draw is a loss anyways, and seeing Pak batting well, I don't know how anyone could even ask for a draw.

I dont think the would do so unless a wicket falls with the old one.

They have gone for runs in both innings of this test match with the new ball, and they wont want to risk that especially because Harris has at least tied up one end with the old one.

On the other hand, taking the new ball might as well give them a better chance of winning but it is too risky.

Boy can you believe it, our batsmen have played the new ball better than the older one in this match.

I am not saying we SHOULD draw the game.....what I meant was....that since we have secured a draw...now should go start accelerating for a win.

It is 3:01 AM here...I am not staying up for no stinking drawn match!!! :P

Keep it up man - It's 1 am here and i have got 2 projects due tomorrow with a flight to catch to celebrate Eid the next day.

I took tomorrow (Friday) off..thinking it will be Eid....but seems like will sleeping most of the day! :P

If I was Smith, I wouldn't take new ball.....and keep bowling Harris as long as ball stays in shape!

we are 1 wicket down, this is the time to put pressure on SA. Anyway Malik, Inzi & misbah are not sitting in the dressing room to drink tea all day we need to play aggressive cricket in order to level the series.
 
we have a series to draw. Draw match mean we will lose the series so better take Harris apart.

Just think about this guys, if Aus or SA were in the position where Pak is today will they just draw the match? I do not think so! If Immi were captin and we were in this position will we play to draw the match? I do not think so!

If we want to be a champ we have to start playing like one.

235 runs in 46 overs with 9 wicket remaining.

sounds quite doable ... but the saffies surely will start employing some very negative tactics to cut down the scoring rate.

they have worked hard for a series win and won't let it go easily.
 
I think Yousuf has to go for runs here while Younus anchors the innings.

We must at least have a go. There is no point in being 2/3 down at the end of the day's play

This could not be more true for the current situation.

This match is a draw. You can't expect Pakisatn to get that many runs in that short amount of time. But a moral victory for Pakistan if we draw.

Come on Pakistan a little more intent please. Go for the freaking win, a draw wont matter as SA will end up winning the series!

What are you talking about?! 5.3 RPO is very much possible in two sessions and that too with 8 wickets in hand!
 
They need to start slashing add the odd ball from the seamer... Put the SA on the backfoot... make them defend the boundries... making singles/doubles easier

I think you would find that an objective analysis would show S.A bat as fast as pakistan...

with players like smith , gibbs , boucher and de villiers you really think we couldn't bat faster if we wanted to ?

its very difficlut when the bowlers are bowling wide of off stump or a leg stump line

but the main thing is to try and get the scare on smith

all that means is a couple of overs when we shift a up a few gears - all teh risk is with Pak tho

Given the context of the series, I rather we go for it and fall short then play for a draw.
 
Pakistan should try what is the use of drawing we will still loose the series
 
i think they can afford to play like this for 5 more overs, then they must attack, they should try blasting ntini
 
It makes all sense to go for a win....draw is as good as a loss..a loss wont hurt much because it would come because Pakistan took a risk

I have to agree, we might as well go for the win, we have more to gain than lose.
