What's new

Pakistan vs South Africa 2nd test match...Day 2 from Port Elizabeth.

partnership now 41, the blme should go to akmal and he should be dropped for next match.

one more wicket and we are back on top. at the moment it's 50/50.

So its settled then. Even though Akmal is now putting on the worst display of keeping in international cricket that i have ever seen( yes, worse than parthik patel). There is no keeper in pakistan that can take the field other than Akmal. SO what if he drops like 3-5 catches a match.
We only care about akmal's morale, which i would think must be pretty low any ways with all those dropped chances.
Please tell me who is a better keeper in Pakistan, and if you've actually seen them play and we are not talking about Moin Khan here.

Easa, surely anyone we have is better than Akmal on CURRENT form. Surely he cant do much worser. I feel Akmal just needs some time off from the game to improve.

These two looking in total command .. Kaneria not causing too much trouble at the moment ..Only if that Goal Keeper had completed that easy stumping ..He makes Parthiv Patel look like Allan Knott

Kaneria has been unlucky YET again.

17 overs, 5 maidens, 32 runs, 0 wickets.

Kaneria seems to bowl much better when Shoaib is in the team or atleast thats the impression i get.

Pakistan should make sure that they are not chasing more than 200.. if they can, surely game is in their pocket! you guys need to worry only after the lead starts stretching above 200. it very far at the moment.

in first innings the way akmal dropped catches is amazing we still got them out on 124.

Inside edges, Kaneria looking like picking up a wicket.

What was wrong with that appeal??? That was as plumb as you can get against leg spinner.

Hitting middle and hit in line of off-stump-- Kaneria sure is unlucky-Prince rescued by Parker!

Why do we always get the poor umpires? Doctrove and Parker, what a combination.

I bet it would have been given out if Pakistani batsman was on the crease ..Ajeeb daastan hai ..Wicket keeper catch nahee letaa ..umpire out nahee detaa .. Prince is playing 3 rd innings in this knock ..some people have all the luck

Inzi should try and bring the field in closer to put more pressure on the Saffies as we need a wicket badly in these closing stages today.

Make no mistakes - all the close decsions will go Saffie way when Pakistan bats in second innings ..(not that they need any second invitation when it comes to throwing their wickets away )

i am sorry yaar, I work full time so I can't follow pakistan domestic cricket. All my Moin comments were in jest, ofcourse he is not the answer. However can u tell me with a straight face that there just isn't a keeper in pakistan who will not fluff 5 chances a game.

I have been following international cricket since '86 and I honestly can't remember a keeping performance as poor as this. Like I said, this is worse than Patel, who many people justifiably blame for losing India the home series against Australia. Despite patel's splendid batting in that series( kami can't even fall back on his batting any more), India dropped patel. If we don't pull the plug on the Kami experiment, we will probably be talking about this again in the world cup.

As plumb as u can get from a leg-spinner--hitting middle about six inches from the bails and hit in front of off within the crease!!

Akmal and Farhat have dropped so many chances againt England and Saffies that they will soon be nominated for Highest Civilian award

Tomorrow we have to come-in all guns blazing and forget about Shoaib and his "Fitness".
It must have been demoralising for the young guys in the team to see poor umpiring, missed chances and the "Fitness chaos" today but we have to take the positives and see that we are still 26 ahead and just need 7 wickets - 3 of them tailenders.

115/3 at the end of the day. it could easly have been 4 or 5 down if not for akmal blindness.

yeah...as a South African I must say , you guys have a ridiculous lack of faith in your team .

If South Africa had Pakistan in this position (3 wickets down ...23 runs behind) ...I'd be supremely confident .

The wicket looks like it's not going to break up much .Even if S.a can score 350...you should easily chase 210 . Harris (the spinner) is no shane warne.

Asif , Sami both bowled quickly and pretty well considering they were both not in the side till recently and Kaneria was robbed of atleast two wickets today-one missed stumping and a clear LBW shout turned down.
So we are still in the driver's seat-- no point in bashing people- just support the team.

Kallis and Prince have a certain trait that they don't give their wickets as Christmas Gift to opposition once they are set .. Most Pakistani batsmen obviously have an entirely different opinion

Prince was given two lives, one a simple missed stumping by Akmal and the other was plum lbw from a Kaneria delivery.

I'm still backing Pakistan to win this one. We need a wicket or two early tomorrow.

:)) Wait till Pakistani batsmen prove you wrong by batting on the same track ..and make it look like Perth wicket

BTW Akmal will be getting lot Christmas cards from Saffies by the time this series is over .. Infact he is still getting cards from Poms and doesn't have enough room in his house to keep them

well thats a best case scenario for south africa...I dont see us making much more than 250 , which will leave you a mere 110 to get on a flat wicket....

Well of course I want S.a to win...but if we lose , it will make for a cracker of a game in Cape town .

akmal is shocking ....as a keeper myself I feel sorry for him ...when you are under pressure you get very "tight"...your hands "snap" at the ball and your head gets in the way ....the more you worry about dropping the ball....the more you do......

but you cant have this in intertantional cricket...you really don't want to give guys like prince and kallis two chances....hard enough to get them out once..

People are acting as if we are going to be chasing 350 in the final innings. We are still ahead of South Africa in this game, and I expect us to win by 6-7 wickets, on the 4th day.

Wow ,what happened today, some important things
1 Inzi proved once again he is the worst coward ever, what coward innings that was
2 Shoaib again proved that he is the greatest fast bowler in the 2nd innings.
3 Asif again proved that he gets tired easily by bowling continuously for 13 overs with very expensive bowling figures(hey Asif why can't you learn one or two things from your senior partner Akhtar "how to bowl in the 2nd inngs without getting tired and injured).
Once again Inzi you fat jealousy "coward",Damn you!!!!

Yeah, I think we are in a pretty decent position.
I think Inzis return to good form along with the fact that I just can't see MoYo "failing" twice means I reckon we ought to be able to chase down anything upto 230-250 quite easily. SA will have to bat pretty well to set us that.

first of all we are in better position then SA just like we were on day one. But we don't have huge advantage over them thanks to Akmal.

Well day 2 has ended with Pakistan still firmly in front of this game.

-25 for 3.....another wicket or two would have been the icing on the cake but I guess we will have to have the cake without any icing for tonight. Kamran has had a poor game with the gloves despite a good catch to get rid of Kallis in the first innings. Please Kamran, sort it out. That was a poor miss. Ofcoarse Prince was plumb LBW a couple of overs later but that fat umpire didn't give it.

We are in a good position now because even if we only get one wicket in the morning session SA will effectively be only 60 odd for 4. But we need to try to knock at least two over tomorrow morning.

All in all......another good day for Pakistan. We have fought and competed with South Africa throughout this series so far which is a very good sign and one that many people were not expecting.

I would say the game is still evenly poised at the moment...

dont forget Pakistan with just 3 bowlers...we still have to pick up 7 SAF wickets...it wont be easy with just 3 bowlers

the first session tomorrow will pretty much clear which way the Test series will go...we need to pick up atleast 2 wickets in the first session tomorrow!
