We really need to reshuffle our batting order. Zoni & Ajmal are simply incapable to hold the willow and this is what our batting order should be

Farhat
Hafeez
Younus
Fawad
Asad
Razzler
Afridi
Wahab
Zoni
Akhtar
Ajmal

you still want farhat ?

Apologies about the stat regarding this being the closest win for SA by runs. They said so on TV, but there has been a one-run victory before. :))

they said on tv it was the narrowest victory VS PAK.

Thank you Ajmal, U let us big time in the Semi final of the world cup and now this. Once again u pooed urself. 2off 8 . What the hell were u doing? Why were u swing away like a mad man when Fawad was on the otherside. He needs to be dropped ASAp. Hes had an awful series so. Bowled so poorly. Hafeez has outbowled him big time. Sorry ur times up. U simply cant handle pressure

Fawad is not Razaq and this wasn't the same wicket as abu dhabi!! End of!

Brilliant knock by fawad, I
think he had the best strike rate of the match for anyone scoring over 20!!

I second that , fawad needs to come early. I cant do anything about imran farhat and i wont risk to play umar akmal as opener

are you watching this post match analysis on ptv with amir sohail????

Why the hell does sohail hate fawad so much but he is obsessed with imran farhat??

Sohail : "If you are getting a chance in the Pakistan team, you have to make it count"

ummm hello amir sohail, what about imran farhat??

from CricBuzz

Botha: It was another cliffhanger and we were lucky that it went our way. Alam played really well, they set the game up nicely and we were lucky that we are the happier side at the end of the day. Amla is a world class player and his innings was world class.

he admits they got lucky thats nice to read

Was Umar Akmal injured today guys? I think I heard that prior to the match. Please confirm.

So wts the average of fawad now? he scored 50 plus in a losing cause and remained not out.Truly a pakistani version of reveder jadeja.Hats of to him.

Baji couldn't handle the pressure but Afridi pii Jaan should've given atleast a little better inning.

Afridi claimed the openers started too negatively. Wasn't there any planning before going out to bat? How can you just blame their approach. The captain and the coach need to develop the approach!!!

From the biggest critic of Fawad, well played! Should not have taken the single in the last over but will definitely learn from experience. Farhat is not good enough at this level. He should go back make some runs at domestic level and then come back.

For me Zoni should be played only in tests. Learn from England regarding different test and one day teams. They also have different keepers.

Jury is still out on Asad Shafiq. But if selectors honestly think he is good enough, he should be given more chances. Look at Marcus North in the Aussie setup or previously Watson and Symonds. If selectors think they are good enough they stick with them.

Why criticize Alam? He plays that way which is fine. We just need someone who is a fast scorer on the other side ALA Umar Akmal. I hope he is better in next game.
Umar in Farhat out.

But who got Pak to that stage,
He stopped us from getting a humiliating loss :fawad

it was good for him but definitely he got that thing wrong , which he should have learnt from razzaq the last match. But i appreciate this guy but i think there was some due cristicism as well.

Don't want to pin blame on one particular player but Ajmal had a really poor game. We know how he batted, his bowling was awful and wasted about 3 run outs in the field.

what did he say about farhat?

He said something to the effect that you cannot blame Farhat at all for playing with the strike rate that he played with. Ultimately it was Fawad's fault.

No doubt that Fawad messed up but how did Farhat's strike rate not hurt Pakistan?

Also, the host of this program just confused Rusty Theron with Charlize Theron.
:ibutt

aamir sohail, sarfaraz nawaz and abdul qadir are narcissistic and always want to be opposite/ different from others

I'm just sick of this mentality. First the same was applied to Misbah's innings in the T20's and now to Fawad's. We do NOT play cricket to avoid humiliation. We play TO WIN. If your innings do not win Pakistan the match, they are of no value. They might help you keep your place, but its worthless to the team. Results count; bottom line.

OMG what bs seriously confusing rusty with an actress you gotta be kidding me
is amir sohail related to farhat.... that sort of support just doesnt make sense to me at all

aamer sohail is pathetic, just because farhat tries to copy aamer shohail .The same white romal on his head :farhat lets hope he doenot play the next game.

i guess botha and his team was not aware of the destiny planned by our team for the game

The host is just so impressed with Farhat "seeing off" the new ball and they best bowlers. You are not playing in freakin Englang where the new ball swings miles. There is no need to " see off " the new ball. All what Farhat and Asad did was that they " saw off " the game for us. Afridi helped the cause as well.

So, who thinks Afridi's comments to Ramiz about the negative start from the batsmen mean Farhat might be out next game? When he was batting a thought that might have been a retarded yet pre-planned strategy by the coach/captain to make a cautious start because they were chasing a low-ish total, but given Afridi's comments, Farhat clearly wasn't following any instructions.

you still want farhat ?

Like we have a choice? even if Umar recovers, it'll be unfair to send Asad back to the opening slot when its clear he preffers middle order.

Precisely my point!

Ideally, we need to bring in the Akmals inplace of Farhat & Zoni.

if he is out it in the next game it would be such a fail! he played selfish to try and secure a spot :P

Actually it was Asad's first inning in this series as #4. If he hadn't given good score he would've lost his position. I hope he will do better in next inning.
However, Farhat has been tried and failed so many times. so no point in cutting him some slack.

You are just hater. He not only kept his wicket safe but also increased the strike rate when it was needed and brought us very close to victory.

I hope that is the case because Farhat made it look as if we were batting in England and facing James Anderson!! I do agree with what Afridi said. Too negative approach and undue pressure taken on by the batters. However, it is weird as the captain/coach usually devise a strategy for the openers.

Farhat out . Umar in.

LOL! Even I thought this was another BS strategy from the team managment. But then, both of them played so slow so I doubt it.

He surely needs a kick up his pants thou for making a mountain out of a mole really. I still cant believe we let it drift away so much that needed 10 RPO at the end. Pathetic start!

We desperately need a batting coach or consultant who looks at each player individually and form customized batting plans for each batsman.

I'm tired of this laissez faire attitude to batting. I just can't see how any benefit there would be in Waqar coaching the batsmen

How dare u :@ going against :ibutt , do u want to be sent to exile in kalapani?

If junior is fit to play, I'd say throw Afridi at the opening position. His batting is struggling anyway and a little cameo from him can give us a quick boost at the top.

It wasn't a slog. Afridi got out to a good ball from Morne who has been bowling pretty well since the last couple of games.

watch it again, there's a reason experts say not to play cross batted shots early in the innings. That ball was kind of short, had Afridi just nudged it somewhere, he would've saved himself. Instead he went for a full-on smash and the bat wasn't even fully open

It was a slightly lose shot on a good ball, wasn't a slog. Shouldn't have played it like he did obviously.

haha well we all spent all day in front of our computers and commenting , feeling sad that we have lost. In fact pakistanis dont have much of entertainment ,only atif aslam and cricket.

atif aslam is awesome!
although he can act cheap sometimes :P
i noe i wasted my whole day on cricket kinda regret it

GUYs Wahab riaz definitely showed that he has something to become an all rounder

True. And not just that, I love how he gives it his all in every match he plays. The body language and the determination is commendable. Certainly deserves a long run. :wahab

afridi indicating rehman might replace ajmal..good news
he can bat as well

indicating where? Is he on some channel right now?

I'm hoping Junior sets his ankle right and kicks out Farhat. :umarakmal

CricInfo:

I dare say, Pakistan have only themselves to blame. That they got this close is down to some incredible late hitting from Fawad Alam and Wahab Riaz. In reality, they had no business letting it get so close. Imran Farhat and co. took too long without going anywhere, and Shahid Afridi and co. left too much for the lower order.

South Africa have dodged a bullet, but they will be concerned with this show. Barring one man - Hashim Amla. Even Morne Morkel who finished with 4 wickets, lost the plot in the end overs. And too many dropped catches in the end.

49.6
Theron to Shoaib Akhtar, 1 run, Rusty you beauty! Delivers the near-perfect yorker on off stump and Shoaib can't do much with that. It went off the edge, for a single to AB. Not enough. Johan Botha roars. Alam is heart-broken. South Africa have completed their narrowest win by runs in ODIs.
