What's new

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 2nd ODI | Karachi | Sep 30, 2019 | Pakistan innings

One think misbah must guard against is asking these batsmen to play their natural games.
'Natural game' for most them is to play selfishly for a place in the side.
He must push them for more

I dont think theres much difference in quality of these SL players compared to those not touring

These guys will be hungry. Good opportunity to be knocking on the door for a regular slot.

That Tapal tea product placement has to be the most CRINGEWORTHY thing in international cricket broadcast!

Not many are debuting i suppose. Most of them belong to pool of players who are always in and out of side. Been the story of SL cricket for last years

Dananjaya is banned and Malinga has retired from ODIs

This is their front line bowling but the batting depth looks poor with no Kusal Perera, Mathews and Kusal Mendis

Smashing has started. And good to hear that Rameez is finally satisfied with Babar's power game

The rise of babar is good because players in the side will now look up to a world class player for improvements and inspiration.
Earlier role models were likes of shoaib bhai and misbah bhai

Imam is so dead. It's hard to understand why so many PPers have so much hope for him.

Good to see Fakhar scoring. Finally a decent opening partnership.

This pitch is flat. Gonna need 310-315+.

After 22 overs Pakistan are going at a run rate of 3.15. Absolutely pathetic! On one the flatest pitches in the world

I agree. Hes bad for the modern game

We cannot afford to have a batsman who is so substandard against spin and is also weak against short-pitched bowling from quicker bowlers.

His WC stats were mediocre - but even then his numbers for the tournament were bumped up following that dead rubber ton in the final WC match against Bangladesh's woeful bowling attack.

The scorecard is showing an error - the actual RR is almost 5

Ohh yes. Add to that he cant even acclerate after getting set.

Who should replace him? Ahmed Shehzad?

On the other hand Shan Masood and Abid Ali arent exactly 120 SR players as well. So who should replace a guy with avg of 53 and SR of 80 as the options available cant average 50+ and I doubt can play at a SR of 100+ as openers consistently. Not to forget Imam is 23 while Shan and Abid are 30+.

Pak going along nicely, could be a bit quicker but retain wickets, then assault will come.

Would like to see Iftikhar Ahmed click as not only he serves the purpose of a good hitter of the ball but also the 6th bowling option and that too in the form of off spin post Malik and Hafeez.

Want a big hundred from Babar today and not just a "nice" looking 50.

Interesting choice to bat first at NSK. Probably won’t matter against SRL batting, but this stadium was one of the best to chase, particularly under light. PAK should complete with themselves and try to post 330+ here

I havent seen abid play much but against Australia prior to WC he displayed a good range of shots after getting set. He looked miles better against spin than Imam too.
I think even Sami Aslam is a better player than imam but unfortunately for him he was never liked by Mickey and was never given enough oppotunities.More prolific scorer in domestics.Just 3-4 odis for him.

Misbah’s first game in charge and the XI looks 4 left arm bowlers + a leggi. Also, Iftikhar managed to sneak in to the playing XI....

See if our Top 4 is this strong, why not just play 4 frontline pacers and have Imad/Shadab bat 6/7.

No point playing someone like Asif Ali or Iftikhar if they're not gonna bat much.

I really don't like seeing a specialist batsman picked just for 10 overs of power hitting. This can be done by all-rounders.

Wicket seems slow to me - provided no dew later on..

Babar and Harris just look sooooo cool and calm and in control.. put everyone else in the team look like club level cricketers...

i personally like Harris more than Babar, maybe my preferecnce and likeness for lefties but Harris is sooo calm and clean in his game , just love to watch him bat...

Hope both score big ...

Abid Ali is a solid player but doesnt fall under the definition of modern opener with List A SR of 81. Selecting a 32 year old to replace 23 year old in the hope that he will better his List A SR and avg wont be the best of decisions in my opinion.

While Sami Aslam is a good talent and should have been given more opportunities but I havent seen many cricket teams in the history of cricket to replace a 23 year of with 7 100s in 35 matches, avg of 53 and SR of 80 to be dropped. Yes Sami should be in the mix of things.

Babar is more technical and he punches the ball similar to Sangakkara and Williamson.

Haris is very smooth and is pure timing. Most elegant player I've seen since Mahela.

I don't understand why you mention Abid Ali's age yet support Iftikhar, who is at least 32+ but most likely 34-35. He is Misbah's friend let's be honest.

Haris's elegance is unmatched once he gets his cover drive going.

Iftikhar’s age argument aside (Cant argue on assumptions), guy can hit the ball big and adds something to the team. Abid wont add anything which team doesnt already have.

Pak team needs someone with power game. There arent many batsmen in the middle order in domestics who can hit big shots available except Umar Akmal, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Adil Amin and also Asif Ali but he is less accomplished in overall batting skills. Iftikhar Ahmed also provides an off spin option.

Babar Survives a close LBW call.. Reviewed and not-out on umpires call on hitting wickets...

Pak 150/2 30.4 - RR 4.89

Babar again missing a ball on leg stump.

He's gotten out this way in the past games.

Missed a sweep against Nabi.

Missed a leg glance against Saifuddin.

Now missed one against Kumara and should've been out.

In SA, he also got bowled around his legs... So definetly this is his weakness at the moment and he is vulnerable here.

Most of imams hundreds hve come against likes of zimbabwe or in games that we lost

Its also his strength
It provides Him an option for Single Or Boundaries to fine leg. Also He Knows Where his off stump
Which i. Turns Helps him For single to third man And Leave balls easily
It's more complicated then that .
