Panamagate Case: Supreme Court disqualifies Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in unanimous verdict

I wonder what the last section of the report contains :s Potentially names of those who will get punished!

Contains records and help obtained from Foreign Agencies. Can not publish the details of Personals from Co-operating Parties that are not Pakistani, courtesy perhaps Foreign Affairs MOUs.

Thats Only for the SC and Co.

so is he guilty, or will now guilty verdict come after NAB gives a report?

NAB reference will be later and will be criminal proceedings.

Current proceedings will be about disqualification.

Red Devil Syed1 Break it down for UK noob, the big question is this; will IK finally have a shot at becoming PM? and will Nawaz Sharif finally pay for the crimes he has been accused off or get away with it

Its up to SC. They can agree to JIT's suggestion and may refer case to the NAB or they can deny the suggestion and take the action of their own.
If they refer the case to NAB then Nawaz needs to resign because NAB works directly under PM of the country.
Currently NAB dg is not in Pakistan and he is retiring in coming October. So i think SC will not refer the case to the NAB and will take some decision. More likely, disqualification is coming.

In JIT report, is it a mention of NAB-Ordinance sections that are breached by Sharifs ?
or actually a recommendation to proceed through NAB references ?

I thought it was former.

Wow wow wow this is some next level FBI investigation:

Btw guys 275 page PDF of the report is available online now. Just Google it. Can't post PDF on PP.

There is a reason why some of the biggest mafias in the world have been brought down not because of their murders or their other crimes but because of tax evasion and money laundering. You can hide a dead body but you cannot hide stolen wealth.

Somewhere, there's a Noora kicking himself for not having used the much-maligned Papyrus font... it would've lent the fake documents a sufficiently ancient air.

Papyrus chorien... Wingdings hi use karlehtay... that would have made more sense :))

Wow, I am reading it now. Maryam:

-tried to pass of photocopies as legitmate original documents
-the documents had obvious cuttings and super-imposed fake dates, this was confirmed by 2 forensic specialists from abroad

Absolutely unbelievable/

More I read more stunned I am.

What a family of thieves from father to children.

Absolutely incompetent at doing forgeries as well....

If you want to know the upcoming legal strategy and defense of N league against the JIT report, read Ghareeda's Farooqi's pathetic tweets.

For those like me who missed the happenings, a good analysis from a neutral tv program

The corruption was a given. Everyone including Charlie's aunt knows these guys were corrupt to the bone. What is shocking is the incompetence. With all the resources they have at their disposal, they can't even forge documents convincingly? The average tech-savvy teenager could do a better job with Photoshop than what they've mustered.

Even here, I mean when I think about this at the time it was surreal.

These morons were making victory signs after 2 judges said their leader is a Mafia man and the other 3 referred their leader for further investigations. Their response?

V signs.

Unbelievable.

Indeed. Egg on their face now.

I just hope the SC follows through with the verdict. Until it happens I'm going to worry. These crooks always have a way of slipping through.

Once again Imran Khan showing the power of persistence. What a leader. He's changing the mold of our country without even being the PM yet.

This is an outrage! At some level you can sort of rationalise corrupt and clever but corrupt and stupid is down right unacceptable.

I recall a TV program where a Sharif family lawyer brought along forged tax records to prove that they paid their taxes. Apparently the Sharifs paid taxes like clockwork: on the same date every year. The trouble was, the forgeries for the various years all listed the same year. The lawyer had apparently not bothered looking at the documents either, because when the host first pointed the discrepancy out, he kept saying the years were different.

Read this part man Nostalgic Nawaz ne apne khaalu jaan ko jaanene se be inkaar kerdya :)))

So what's next now? Will we finally see some consequences or a new committee is on the cards?

They will read the report and next hearing will be one week from now. At that point, they may allow N-league's lawyers to give arguments. It is likely that we will see daily hearings.

After that they will give a decision, Nawaz Sharif will be disqualified.

After his disqualification there will be a criminal trial, probably referred to NAB.

Zafar Ali Shah of PML-N the only one from the party who has come out on the media and blasted PML-N. At least there is one guy in N who is loyal to the nation rather than the party.

this is great news. It proves once and for all that NS is as corrupt as Zardari. But that's the only good news. The bad news is this will not stop them from being re-elected. It will not stop NS from holding some influence and may not prevent him from going for say the presidency with someone else as the PM. I will beleiev it the day I see him disqualified from office and exiled from the country or behind bars. But if they dont do the same to zardari and his family then all this is for nothing. The MQM still walks around Karachi for goodness sake and they are traitors and terrorists. The land mafia controls vast tracks of punjab with the support of the pmln and other gangs. We have sindh ruled by feudal lords from the sixteenth century..excuse my cynicism but Ive been dissapointed in the past and this may not be different.
Kudos to Imran though. A true legend!!

Pakistan has changed. The future is bright inshallah !

History will remember one man and his 2 decade struggle to bring all those who robbed and hurt our great nation to justice. He gave up a good life and his family for the nation and he never backed down even after being mocked, abused and threatened. He is a living legend and Pakistan is blessed to have him.

Imran khan zindabad !

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

All hail the victory of Imran Khan and the defeat of the corrupt tolla... Inshallah more bad days for the corrupt and their supporters in the days ahead. "Mein inko rolaaonga" "Tumharay baap ka paisa hai ke bhool jaingaye"

:salute :salute :salute

A moment of silence for all the Nooras on this forum who haven't dared to show up since yesterday.

Didn't this happen years ago when NS was over thrown by military rule? I'm afraid we might see him back again in the future...

No sayasi shahadat for him this time to cash later and it looks like army isn't in the mood to jump in this mess for or against him.

JIT guys showed there are competent officers in our agencies and they can match the skills of anyone in the world if you give them a chance. If you read the JIT report you will realize the professionalism shown by them. They deserve all the credit being given to them.

Hopefully. But the people of this country aren't smart. I have a feeling they will forgive and forget about this whole thing years later and we might see the Sharifs back.

Its hilarious to see darbari journalist like Javed Choudry scramble to make this JIT a win for Nawaz sharif. The amount of spin being put on will make Murali proud /

I read somewhere on here that foreigners were hired to investigate the letters?

What a family of thieves from father to children.

And she was in line to become Pakistan's next Prime Minister

I read somewhere on here that foreigners were hired to investigate the letters?

Govt depts and foreign agencies of those countries were contacted and some of them cooperated the UAE ministry letter to deny their story is an example.

Nooras next failed attempt that aspiring Field Marshall scripted this and provided support as Sana ullah blabbered this report was being prepared from more than 2 months whatever it is

Dead and buried hopefully criminal cases and Adyala for Mian SB :14:

I read somewhere on here that foreigners were hired to investigate the letters?
A British company, Radley Forensic Document Laboratory, were hired to examine the veracity of the submitted documents.
Likewise, a number of law firms were hired, QUIST London for example to handle MLA (mutual legal assistance) requests from overseas territories.

Reading through more and more of the report, it's impossible that Sharif lawyers can refute all these points with lies that don't contradict each other by Monday.

Isn't it fitting that Pakistan is getting rid of one of the most corrupt leaders in its history just before its 70th independence day. It's like a coming-of-age story.

Page 152 of JIT report: They screwed Sharifs with their own 'audited' report of Hill Metal Steel, with how 88% of profits was being sent to Nawaz Sharif through 'gifts' and remaining 12% used to maintain the mill. Bloody genius! :))

NS will never resign voluntarily because without the money of the government he has no power to bribe companies like GEO etc and he will def go to jail. He doesnt really give a monkeys about the PML because they are his vehicle and if he cant drive no one else will be allowed to. Unless the SC calls time, we Will see deadlock and violence.

Pretty much, I heard a lot of his people in PMLN told him to step down but his inner circle advised him not to. They know if he steps down they are deeply screwed too.

He is caught in a dead end. Only way out is to run to a country which has no extradition treaty with Pakistan.

Corrupt people are like rats; they find ingenious ways to survive. As much as we think the game is over, he will fight it out to the bitter end.

Page 163/164: Hassan Nawaz has 11 bank accounts in many different countries.. He refused to provide any information on these accounts.

In the process to survive, NS just keeps digging a bigger hole for himself and his family. There would have been no case had Hussain Nawaz not given the initial interviews and Nawaz Sharif did not address the nation multiple times and given that speech in parliament.

I have this awful feeling that they want confrontation on the streets to look like the victims of a forced abdication. IK will not back down especially after the evidence uncovered and NS cannot step down because jail time awaits if he does.

What are the possibilities of SC appointing special prosecutors for cases against Sharifs when they send these cases to lower courts for trial?

There will be vigorous scrutiny of lower judiciary and prosecution this time around by the media and public. No more referee judges will be allowed to quash cases and I doubt the pressure will allow them to delay the cases.

They barely managed to muster a few hundred people with Maryam Nawaz's appearance. Street agitation is a poor option right now for Sharifs given the report is fresh in people's minds.

I think the difference this time is that the army has no intention of intervening and hopefully it stays that way. SC has an important role here and should make a prompt decision.

WOW! From page 192 onward they recommend opening Nawaz Sharif's previous cases and finishing investigation on current ones..Must read.
They also refer to annexures, that means they have evidence regarding those cases?? This is huge! Why didn't anyone cover this in the media..

What i meant was that they would force IK onto the streets and use the Punjab Police as their goons, which would then force the army to intervene.

I do not see anything happening to the Sharif Family. Dar said they will contest the report in SC. The case will be dragged forever and ultimately, all the findings of the JIT will be declared null and void.

This is Pakistan after all.

SC could have given clean chit to NS and family on April 20th if that was the case or they could have formed a more lenient JIT. The fact that they didn't gives me hope.

Also, it will be really tough to give clean chit now with the overwhelming evidence against the Sharifs. But yea, let's hope for the best.

Actually SC's role has been excellent, remember when JIT was first formed all of the 5 institutes recommended 1 member each for the JIT and SC rejected all of them (except for ISI and MI, I think) and then requested list of employees from each organization and selected the member themselves. I don't think clean chit is coming. Most likely 5-0 against Sharif for disqualification with possible initiation of criminal cases.

Nice to see even your pessimistic self has started to believe. :ik2

Uncertainty prevails in ministries and departments after JIT report.

With the findings of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in Panama case, uncertainty blanketed country’s political scenario which also started affecting routine business of various ministries and economic institutions.

According to insiders, the secretaries and subordinates, who are now being asked to move files related to development projects speedily, are hesitant to follow the direction of ministers and higher authorities apparently to save their own skin.

Though the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved 11 important projects worth Rs 234 billion on Monday, the day the JIT submitted its report to Supreme Court of Pakistan and subsequently released to parties and media, the government was willing to complete necessary work on projects as early as possible, sources claimed.

During a visit to various ministries, it was observed that government employees including officers and other staff were discussing the JIT’s findings and their implications on political environment of the country. The secretaries and other officials were not in mood to take risk of moving forward any case as asked by their bosses. It looks like JIT report has crippled public and private sector machinery across the country.

A complete uncertainty was visible at Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) where the commission’s head was trying to avoid arrest. A source at Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) claims that though the JIT has not proposed any major action against the bureau for noncooperation in investigation against ruling family, the top officials were fearful of any direction for further investigation or demand of record in connection with Sharif Family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. According to him, the recently retired FBR chairman Dr Muhammad Irshad, sensing the possible outcome of JIT and post JIT scenario had rejected an offer of another extension of three months. He had refused to continue his duty after completing term on June 30.

The absence of key ministers from their ministries, who were reportedly busy in meeting at Prime Minister Secretariat on Tuesday, also fueled rumours about decisive end following the development in Panama case.

The level of uncertainty in financial institutions under Ministry of Finance was comparatively high since the Finance Minister is in hot water after serious allegations leveled by JIT regarding tax evasion. Apart from the mess at SECP, the JIT has also claimed that FBR remained reluctant in sharing tax details of Sharif Family.

The JIT in its report says that though most of the departments and government institutions provided the record asked for, however, it was provided selectively and in parts. Despite repeated reminders, FBR remained elusive with reference to provision of complete tax return of Ishaq Dar till the time he appeared before JIT.

In sab ki phatti pari hai. :))

Good time to revisit the old thread for self analysis. From November.

Collateral Damage will outweigh the verdict.

This is not a case against Sharifs only. This will question the role of institutions involved in proceedings that allegedly lead to corruption. Dynamics involved and Connections that each move implied will shatter the Sharifs more than the verdict will. An ugly victory will be more damaging to them.

I don't know ABC of court procedures but I can see many many more cases stemming out from within Panama hearing. That's where it will start damaging Sharifs and their support will fade away.

PMLN has played into hands of IK who I think never had the intentions of PM resignation. I have a feeling that IK will be hoping that the Panama Case in court is dragged by upto 6-8 months and collateral-verdicts every month.
The longer the hearing stretches ( I wish it does), better for IK and bad for Sharifs.

I think IK will keep talking against delaying tactics just to fool others when he doesn't want this case to be complete within 1 month. He will keep saying this and his opposition will continue feeling happy.

( will come back to this reply in 3 months time)?

For Nawaz, Option with least damage was to resign 1 year ago. IK blocked that when he demanded for resignation. Resignation was an option only before IK's demand, not afterward. Sharifs played into his hands.

And IK is at it AGAIN.

And Sharifs will play into his hands AGAIN.
