Play about to start in less than 6 hours...

Lets see what combination Afridi comes up for his Patrons 11.

A big chance for Afridi, Asim Kamal and Bazid Khan to cement their place in 14/15

Lets hope Shahid Afridi impresses with bat! He has never been given a fair chance in test cricket, should be played more considering he has a healthy batting average of almost 40!

Needs to be used in test cricket.........He does seem to knuckle down an play accroding to the situation when batting in test cricket whilst in ODI he jus plays with no brains!

Test cricket certianly gets the best out of him imo

90 overs each match. Cheif selector Abdul qadir has gone especially to watch the match. Players who impress in the match have a great chance to be in test x1 acording to selectors.

News on Tariq mahmood and aslam sattar is they were called up for batsmen to practice against the. Maybe similar actions to murali and mendis. Pitch is a batsmens paradise.

Afridi said he hopes youngsters become like wasim, waqar and miandad etc lol

Article in www.express.com.pk newspaper.

Who are the 11 players, has that been announced?
it is not that easy. Even for side match they announce 15 player squad to keep the interest going. We will soon see the test squad go from 22 to 15-16 instead of 12.

This match is like PCB saying to some players "help me help you"

Right, I understand that, but I meant have they announced the squad for the practice game?

Afridi isnt going to be picked regardless of how he performs...

I doubt that. They wouldn't have made him Captain otherwise. If he hits a century, there is no way he won't be selected. :afridi

Afridi will be making duck, and duck. Therefore, with double duck will earn him a place in Pakistan Test Squad. That's reality of our selectors intellectual policy

This game must have started by now. Anyone with a link to a scorecards?

I hope Asim Kamal does well and finally takes his rightful place from Afridi in playing XI.

:afridi Fair enough .

Scorecard wont be up until atleast 4/5 hours time i recon.

I think a 3 day game would have been more meaningful.

Its the 21st century and we can get information from outer space but sadly getting a live cricket score from Pakistan is one step too far.

This game is being played at the Southend Club Stadium, which is part of Southend Club. Its 5 mins drive from my house in phase 6 DHA. Setting up an international warmup game at this ground is LUDICROUS , this ground is hardly capable of hosting a first class match.. yet the PCB has organized the match here.. its a very small ground, no air conditioning in the players room as far as i remember.. its basically a DHA club with a cricket ground in it.
Pathetic stuff this from the PCB... no wonder teams dont want to tour Pakistan....

I remember PCB also set up a warmup game in a crap stadium (NBP Ground) facing Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine.. during South Africa's tour 2007.

dont think there will be any updates coming until the end of days play...

the pitch on that ground is awesome and the outfield quite fast. Played quite a few matches there

Earlier they used to play these kind of matches at another ground in Karachi I remember, Jinnah Park Stadium or something like that? If this ground is as bad as you are saying why are PCB then giving negative impression to touring teams? Maybe PCB are showing the world in how pathetic situation they are in at the moment.

Will you please take a 5 minutes drive to the stadium for updates? :14:

It's only 4 pm here. I expect the close of play to be 5 pm.

Maybe even 6pm.
Well no, as I imagine the 2 day game will start at the same time as the tests i.e 10 am, hence close of play to be 5 pm.

Keeping that in mind, I don't expect the scorecard to come online until evening, say around 7.

So I'd estimate another 3 hours or so before we see a scorecard.

I have had to delete a lot of posts thanks to a certain poster - making scores up is NOT acceptable nor is it in the slightest bit funny.

Thanks to those of you who have posted them, but we dont need any fantasy or dream scores in this thread.

anyone have any ideas where we can access the scorecard? the link is up on cricinfo but as of yet there is no scorecard? Does anyone based in Pakistan have any news? It would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

This is a thread about the Patrons game so can we keep any posts on topic, keep your fantasies in your head.

If you have any issues with PP Policy then you can raise them in the dedicated form for such issues...

We require score immediately. And Saj, it may be far and away from fantasy. InshaAllah.

He's in the test match final XI bro. The final XI.

The test match cricket final eleven players to play test-grade cricket against the nation of Sri Lanka :afridi :afridi

AMAZING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just stunning how aggressively he played his innings against this test-strength bowling attack at a time when he would have wanted to look the part as a test-paced batsman :))) :))) :)))

Good to see Azhar Ali and Ahmed shazad get hundreds!

Hope are test openers follow in similar vein.

It might be a good idea to bat all day tomorrow, Kamal and Sarfraz are the batsmen - and they have a real chance of getting in the team. Also, the bowlers are reasonably weak just now - ie, most likely will not even be considered. Add to the fact keeping SL in the field for 2 days may mean for some tired legs. So a big partnership all day tomorrow from Afridi's team would be good.

But there is usually a gentlemans agreement for these types of games, so that batsmen and bowlers of the opposition get a decent run.

:afridi =/= gentle

But the batting lineup is weak. They're ONLY 4 WICKETS DOWN and Wahab Riaz is the next man in to bat. Fine, make it Ahmed Shehzad since he got retired hurt. But then again, Riaz will come in when the team is 5 DOWN?!

BUT THEN AGAIN (again) this is a tour match and doesn't really matter. :)

It's 90 overs a side. They batted their 90 overs and now it's the Lankans turn to bat tomorrow. Good knocks by the opener, good hustle by Afridi.

crap bazid khan didnt do any thing in batting as usual, in domestic his average is crap never played any good innings also he played odis lol same every where.

Judging by the wicket and the description of the wicket it sounds like conditions were batsmen friendly and pretty much everyone cashed in.

They should of just entered the reserve team for the test matches they will probably perform better. knowing how the pakistani's are i wouldn't be suprised the real team will get thrashed while the reserve team trashes sri lanka in the warm up. that's the unpredictability about pakistan cricket

Completely dead track and it's Back truly alive. Thank a lot. That really helping Pakistan Cricket a lot. Always a backward move and one step behind!

This match must have started by now. Anyone got any updated scorecards or any news on whats happening?

Pakistan shouldnt make the mistake of picking players for Test matches based on 1 warm up game. Pakistan has done this before and its had limited sucsess.

yep true. atleast 4 hours before the score.
it's bound to be a draw anyways. usually there isn't supposed to be a result in these type of matches, it's just supposed to be a practice game before the matches

All my dear Afridists can find the precious pictures of our love on the following link...
http://www.pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Pictures/21/21504.html

Well, 49 off 29 in 50 mins against a bowling atatck comprised of Vaas, Maharoof, Mendis & Muralitharan !!!

Amazing!

That's Afridi for you guys!

And the best thing is, Qadir was present at the ground, who just praised Afridi last week.
I'm now damn sure that Afridi will be unleashed by YK on SL after consulting with Qadir !!!

:)

I hope Wahab Riaz stakes his claim as a future Pakistan pace bowling fixture by dominating the Sri Lankans today. I like his action, pace, and movement.

seriously?

Whether the decision to take out afridi is right or not will be debatable but what i fail to understand is why the chief selector would say that afridi deserves to be in the 15 member squad, names him captain for tour game, afridi performs and yet gets dropped? Why would you raised the hope of a player (in respective of if people like him or hate him) and than just drop him? Pakistan cricket continues to become a joke. If they did not want afridi why do all this drama?

ah and to top it off Afridi's team won the match! Afridi must be wondering what he did wrong in the last 2 days before which the chief selector was singing his praise!

Moiz,

For all we know Afridi could have been hammering the SL part time bowlers around the park rather then M & M.

oh well hes not be recalled :) :) :)

KARACHI, Pakistan: Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara tuned up for the first test against Pakistan with a century but Patron's XI recorded a 112-run victory on the second day of the two-day warm-up match Wednesday.

The match was curtailed to 90-overs-a-side match — played over two days — and Sri Lanka finished at 283-5 at the Defence Stadium in reply to Patron's XI innings of 395-4.

Sri Lanka began badly, losing opener Malinda Warnapura without a run on the scoreboard when he was trapped leg before wicket by fast bowler Fahad Masood.

His opening partner Tharanga Paranavitana (5) went soon after when paceman Wahab Riaz found an edge.

However, Sangakkara (100 not out) and captain Mahela Jayawardene (49) got useful practice ahead of Saturday's first test as they batted for two hours and added 112 runs for the third wicket.

"We were just interested in some batting practice and four of our main batsmen were among the runs," said Tillakaratne Dilshan, who could score only three before he was bowled by left-arm fast bowler Muhammad Khalil.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah broke the stand when Jayawardene, who hit four boundaries and two sixes, was caught at midwicket.

Sangakkara completed his century in four hours and hit 10 fours, then retired in order to give batting time to teammates.

Sri Lanka's test regular Thilan Samaraweera (45) and wicketkeeper-batsman Prasanna Jaywardene (46 not out) benefited from time at the crease as the tourists elected not to pursue a run chase.

The first test will be played at Karachi's National Stadium from Feb. 21-25. Lahore will host the second test from March 1-5.

Scores:

Patron's XI first innings: 395-4 (Ahmed Shahzad 146 retired hurt, Azhar Ali 100, Shahid Afridi 49; Chaminda Vaas 1-27, Farveez Maharoof 1-30, Tillakaratne Dilshan 1-43, Ajantha Mendis 1-69); Sri Lanka first innings: 283-5 (Kumar Sangakkara 100 retired out; Mahela Jayawardene 49; Mohammad Khalil 1-10, Wahab Riaz 1-33, Fahad Masood 1-35, Ahmed Shahzad 1-44).

KARACHI (AFP) — Kumar Sangakkara hit a fighting hundred but could not prevent Sri Lanka from losing the two-day tour match by 112 runs against Patron's XI here on Wednesday.
The attractive left-handed batsman scored 100 off 176 balls before retiring hurt as the tourists managed 283-5 in their allotted 90 overs, losing the match on the first-innings basis at the Defense Stadium.
The Patron's XI scored 395-4 in their stipulated 90 overs with centuries from Ahmed Shahzad and Azhar Ali on Tuesday.
Sangakkara hit 10 boundaries and was associated in an innings-building 112-run third wicket stand with skipper Mahela Jayawardene who made 49.
Sri Lanka had lost openers Malinda Warnapura (nought) and Tharanga Paranavitana (five) with the total on 26.
Jayawardene hit four boundaries and two sixes before he fell to leg-spinner Yasir Shah. Thilan Samaraweera chipped in with 46.
The tourists start the first of two Tests here on Saturday. The second Test will be played in Lahore from March 1.
Abbreviated Scores: Patron's XI 394-5 in 90 overs (Ahmed Shahzad 146, Azhar Ali 100; C. Vaas 1-27) Sri Lanka 283-5 in 90 overs (K. Sangakkara 100 retired hurt, M. Jayawardene 49)

Poor show from Lanka. What can we expect from a Tour match I guess though.
