They will make it unusable for everybody but not allow muslims to pray. What a pathetic evil vile mentality!

Every year hundereds of thousands of Hindu devotees come to Kashmir's Amarnath cave pilgrimage. It causes tremendous damage to the sensitive ecosystem of the place especially the glacial system. This poses a massive threat to locals but we still wont stoop down to level of these kind of people. Its just pure unrefined hatred.

Yogi : "Sajde ki ijajat? Hold my gau mutra!"

And there have been terror attacks against those pilgrims, often with locals involved. Please don't cite Kashmir as an example when you preach about tolerance, a boy from Chennai who visited as a tourist was killed by stone pelters and some Kashmiri handles on social media were celebrating that tragic event. And the valley has already ridden itself of minorities, people there clearly can't live in a multi-cultural/religious environment.

Coming to topic, sad if true. Werleman is a serial fake news spreader and most stories about this are in Hindi which I can't read, so no way to find out. But Yogi Adityanath is a very sad example of today's Indian politics. Good news is he is losing popularity, wherever he campaigned in recent assembly polls, the BJP candidate lost. IMO he is the worst CM in the country and a sorry excuse of a human being. Hope the MGB takes shape soon and BJP faces a rout in UP in both general and state elections. They got a terrific mandate in the state but have failed miserably, spreading hatred and fake encounters, cow killings etc seem to be their only concern.

stop using a random video to spew your hatred for Hindus. I have grown up watching NDMC parks being watered like this. So how about you prove what's going on in the shared video clip and then talk?

Besides, Hindu devotees will go anywhere in country just like Muslim devotees visit any part of the country. If you really care about the ecosystem, how about focus on some birth control? 1 Crore population is a bit too much for the little valley and glaciers.

Its tweeted by a well known journalist so maybe do some research and disprove it before 'spewing' your defense of some Hindus?

A western journalist tweeting a video of what appears to be nothing out of ordinary for an Indian park. This is basically a clip with no mention of the park, no mention of what's going on, no conversation, no protest.. nothing.

Nothing wrong in asking for authenticity of the share, a "well known" journalist should have surely taken care of that.

you are free to contact him and check but in that way no news can ever be trusted.

You have a point about parks being flooded etc for irrigation but need to be a bit balanced in your posts.

Isn't this guy known for fake news and click bait headlines?

Interesting that just a video showing a park being watered is now being taking equivalent to stopping people from praying. Oh, how the levels of journalism has fallen

I have seen a trend with you that you have time and again tried to bring down Kashmiris with your ill-informed (and obviously ill-intentioned) knit pickings. Indians call themselves our friend but who needs enemies when we have people like you who try to mislead people regarding people of Kashmir. I think you are South Indian arent you? Quite unfortunate and unexpected because South Indians are generally the saner ones.

You have used the following words "attacks on pilgrims OFTEN with locals involved". Clearly you have no clue what you are talking about my friend. You are presenting rare, one of a kind events as something that happens "often" which is unfair. The fact that you could literally cite 2-3 examples spanning decades is a testament to how hollow this argument is.

You have mentioned a couple of attacks, one on the guy in Chennai and other on Amarnath yatris but you didnt mention what happened afterwards. The entire civil society came out to protest against the attacks as this is not a norm here by any means unlike many parts of India where crimes against tourists happen far too frequently.

On the streets of Srinagar and social media, Kashmiris protest against killing of Amarnath pilgrims. Civil society groups held a demonstration in the state capital.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.sc...-protest-against-killing-of-amarnath-pilgrims
Heck even the militant organisations condemned it.

Finally your jibe about Pandits, Kashmiris have historically maintained that Indian state was responsible for exodus of Pandits for various reasons. This is our position on it even if you want to believe the state narrative that evil Kashmiri muslims woke up one day and decided to kick pandits out even though there was hardly any history of communal discord between muslims and Pandits. I am not going to debate this again here because i have already done it numerous times already.

Kashmir is and will remain the safest place for tourists , single lady travellers, pilgrims etc. regardless of what you would like to believe. Shame that we cant say the same for most Indian states.

'I felt safer in Srinagar than South Africa’,
Canon ambassador Chantelle Flores, an internationally-acclaimed photographer, decries negative publicity of Kashmir situation.

1) a well known journalist has shared it.

2) Apparently muslim devotees are being told how to practice their religion unlike Hindu devotees.

3) Valley belongs to us and its eco system belongs to us. We can do whatever we want with it. While outsiders cant.

4) Kashmiris are aware of what the ecosystem needs and its deteriorating condition. And we are doing what we can already.

5) 1 crore population in Kashmir valley? Perhaps you should check your stats before posting them here.

Fair enough - but then someone needs to refute that properly.

Fair enough - but then someone needs to refute that properly.

And who should that be?

The Government or any official source? Do they really not have more important things to do than keep a tab on all false posts on India/Uttar Pradesh and refute them.

In the end, the 'journalist' will end up getting owned on his journalism practice. But, given the new levels journalism has fallen to on all sides - right and left - those who believe him will keep believing him despite evidence to the contrary. This is the reality of the world we live in, where opinions or lies are brandished as facts and people believe what they want to believe, despite enough evidence against those beliefs.

The Valley belongs to India. The Indian tricolor flies there. The terrorists trying to do anything will be dealt with appropriately.

Trying to ignore this but I regretfully have to offer my reply. I don't like negativity or harsh tones but you are forcing matters here.

Firstly I don't care what you think about South Indians or me.

If you see a trend, fine. In my memory I haven't made anti Kashmiri posts or opened threads to mock or score brownie points over happenings in Kashmir. And pretty rich of you to claim moral ground when you don't consider Indians as friends and open threads regularly to take potshots at India/Indians. I never recall targeting you as a poster, I prefer to debate points and not the forum member. I wish you do the same and argue based on the content rather than trying to give character certificates to other members. We are just anonymous posters and 99.9% of us will never see any other PPer face to face to form an objective opinion of the person behind the keyboard.

When someone opens a thread with no link and a twitter video shared by a well known fake news peddler cum hate monger, there will be heated replies. Don't claim moral high ground after your first post. Who is 'they'?' These kind of people'? 'Hindus'? Based on one video shared from somewhere in UP, you want to generalize 1 billion Hindus from all across the country?

Assuming the video is correct, if you had stuck to simply criticizing the authorities involved I would have agreed. Can't speak for others but at least I don't agree with the policies of the UP government and their divisive agenda. But you had to drag Hindus and Kashmir into this debate as if Kashmir is the perfect place and all Hindus from rest of India are evil. Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I simply asked you not to preach without being perfect. It is one thing for Norway to criticize and lecture us but Kashmir is no shining example in these matters.

My words: "And there have been terror attacks against those pilgrims, often with locals involved" and NOT "And there have been terror attacks against those pilgrims often with locals involved" as you indicate. Notice the comma? That little punctuation mark changes the whole meaning. You have got it totally wrong my friend. I didn't say Kashmir sees attacks often. I said the perpetrators are often locals. Civil society coming together to condemn the attack is a move I genuinely appreciate. And I will say civil societies in quite a few states in India would have done the same if Muslim pilgrims were killed.

You are fine to believe your state version of what happened to the Panidts. I would rather not disrespect the victims who have lost everything and ignoring their eye-witness accounts is something I can't do. You may well believe that the killings, rapes and threats are a figment of imagination, good for you. Don't put words in my mouth, all that 'evil Kashmiri Muslims' and what not. All that I know is that there was communal harmony even in places like Iraq/Syria/Egypt but we know what happened to minorities there in the last 5-6 years. Similarly many riots happened in places where there was a history of communal harmony in the preceding years. And in these riots/pogroms, it doesn't need the active participation of the majority. Evil acts are carried out by a tiny few but majority chooses to remain silent, be it 1984 or 2002 or a 1000 other instances across the world.

If you want to believe that Kashmir is the safest state for tourists you are free to have your opinion. Just don't drag in other Indian states in the discussion or put others down.

Peace.

Firstly I don't care what you think about South Indians or me.

I think very highly of South Indians and have a lot of friends from there. That is why i said they are generally the saner more empathetic ones and your ill informed posts directed solely at bringing down Kashmiris are quite unfortunate given that you are from South India.

If you see a trend, fine. In my memory I haven't made anti Kashmiri posts or opened threads to mock or score brownie points over happenings in Kashmir.

You have done it before as well:

http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...h-zero-crime-record-against-tourists-Official

Its quite clear that you have no idea about the social fabric of Kashmir which is understandable due to the distance between North and South. It looks like most of your knowledge about the place is based on State propaganda which tells you about a handful of mishappenings in the time frame of decades altogether. The frequency of such crimes is what matters the most because that tells you more about the society and place. You ignored this aspect completely and tried to paint a picture using rare events rather than the norm. It is evident that You dont know about the peaceful under current of the Kashmiri society which will only be evident to those who spend time here.

Whats the basis of the claim that i dont consider Indians as friends? I do have many Indian friends so i dont know what you are talking about. Have you ever heard me say that i dont consider Indians as friends? Obviously i cant consider those who rejoice at the killing and maiming of Kashmiris as friends but that doesnt prevent me from making friends with good people in India.

Whenever i have opened a thread about India, it mostly is factual news which has a connection with Kashmir. And in any case, i provide proper links to the news. I dont think i have ever opened a thread about India based on my "opinion" or generalization about all Indians.

I would not have pointed towards you as a poster but your repeated uninformed and misleading jibes towards Kashmiri society compelled me because they can mislead others on the forum if left unanswered.

I cant believe i have to explain this to you. By words like "them" , "these kind of people" etc. I obviously meant the ones who hold an extreme ideology and ones perpetrating such evil acts. And i never used the term "hindus". So that is baseless. Please point out where i blamed hindus in general. You can't.

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I simply asked you not to preach without being perfect. It is one thing for Norway to criticize and lecture us but Kashmir is no shining example in these matters.

Kashmir, even though not perfect because no place is, is a shining example which everybody should learn from. Come and live among the people and you will see.

Okay this might have been a blip on my part because i missed the comma. I appogise for it. And i am glad that you acknowledge that these kinds of incidents are exceptions rather than a norm. Perpetrators often being locals then becomes a secondary thing because these things rarely happen in the first place. Having said that, even these rare bad incidents should not happen. And I am sure Indian civil society would also come out to protest against such acts in some states. Not disputing that.

Like i said, i wont discuss the Pandit issue again because it has been discussed at length here already with statements from Pandit leaders of the time being shared which puts everything into perspective. Comparing Kashmir to events in Arab lands would open a pandora's box and is infact equivalent to using numerous fallacies in your argument like affirming the consequent and fallacy of accident. It simply wont end well in a logical discussion. Kashmiris were not a silent majority anyway but like i said, its futile to discuss it for the 100th time here.

If you want to believe that Kashmir is the safest state for tourists you are free to have your opinion. Just don't drag in other Indian states in the discussion or put others down.

Peace.

It is indeed the safest place for tourists in South Asia, not just based on my opinion but based on facts which you attacked in the other thread (link mentioned above in this post). Having said this, you are entitled to your opinion if you believe otherwise based on your personal knowledge of the place.

Peace.

Wasn’t there news recently of police warning companies that they will be fined if their employees prayed in parks?

This could be linked that... not that far fetched.

That is why i said they are generally the saner more empathetic ones and your ill informed posts directed solely at bringing down Kashmiris are quite unfortunate given that you are from South India.

You have done it before as well:

I would not have pointed towards you as a poster but your repeated uninformed and misleading jibes towards Kashmiri society compelled me because they can mislead others on the forum if left unanswered.

OK so that's one post. I must admit that I found this statement 'I would even go on to say that Jammu and Kashmir is the most secular state of entire South Asia where the locals help each other irrespective of their faith' wrong, I may have been harsh with my words (sorry !) but don't remember my mental state that day. Kindly re-read that post, I was talking more about the 'most secular' claim rather than the safety part.

Again that's one post. You can dig my old posts and you will see me make points about stuff that would label me anti national in current India. In various posts I have supported referendum in Kashmir, accepted human rights violations by Indian armed forces in many places including Kashmir, expressed support for conviction of armymen who kill civilians, denounced AFSPA, talked about India's wrongs during 1947-48, talked against Hindutva/RSS etc and its threat to the fabric of India. I have accepted India's wrong policies in Kashmir and expressed sympathy for the common Kashmiris. If I truly hate the people there why would I not simply parrot one sided stories?

I have been called Dravidian thug, anti national, separatist, urban naxal etc by prominent Indian posters on PP for some of my comments and I didn't report them. I don't care because I have an independent mind and will make independent observations irrespective of what people say.

Its quite clear that you have no idea about the social fabric of Kashmir which is understandable due to the distance between North and South. It looks like most of your knowledge about the place is based on State propaganda

That may be true. I have never stepped outside South, the north-most I have been to is Hyderabad. I admit I may be wrong in many areas but I am the flexible kind, so will keep on re-evaluating and reshaping my opinions. Let's be honest, none of us have been to USA or Russia, but we do form opinions about those places based on what we read or media/internet. Being on the PP forum itself has made me change many pre-existing opinions and not just about cricket.

I cant believe i have to explain this to you. By words like "them" , "these kind of people" etc. I obviously meant the ones who hold an extreme ideology and ones perpetrating such evil acts. And i never used the term "hindus". So that is baseless. Please point out where i blamed hindus in general. You can't.

Sorry I misunderstood then, sincere apologies. You said many Hindus come to Amarnath and cause damage to the ecosystem, Hindus even from Tamil Nadu or Andhra go to Amarnath. Then you used terms like 'they', 'these kind of people' etc. I was offended because I am not responsible for what some Yogi bhakt does in UP. In fact Yogi has zero support in my state and BJP has never won an assembly seat here in their entire history. I maybe misinterpreted that part in the heat of the moment.

Always surprises me to see Indians behaving so aggressively at home, they are always model citizens abroad, usually polite and docile. But when they are in the majority the bullying behaviour is quite ugly. Hopefully this isn't representative of the Indian people, and it is just a reflection of Yogi's rabid brand of Hindutva.

i expected this from a Neutral like you .
On topic , Adityanath [ hand picked by Modi ] the criminal is making things worse in UP if that was possible .I think BJP is going to lose major LS seats in UP in 2019 & that is surely comforting .

I thnk it is linked.

Amid the raging controversy following a ban on offering namaz inside a park in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh police on Friday filled the park with water in an attempt to prevent the namaz from happening.

It has to do with the immigrants demographics, in the UK for instance it’s pretty even between Punjabis and Gujuratis while the nexus of Hindu nationalism is in the Hindi belt even though spread more or less organically in the whole of India minus some pockets in the south.

Many have been waiting for this since 70 years ,isnt it ? Sadly i dnt think that much will happen.
5 year modi govt has almost completed. Not even 50 died due to cows out of 125 crore population. Can someone correct me if any major or sort of riot happened in last 5 years? Not anyone i guess. Stats says something else. But people are free to beleieve and say anything ,atleast in india i mean.

Even British Indians seem to have changed down the years, just look at the crowds at international cricket matches. In the past they were almost ashamed to admit they supported the Indian sides, these days they are far more vocal, and truth be told, sometimes over the top. I don't know if they felt they had to emulate the unruly Pakistan crowds who gained a bad reputation in the 90's, but it wasn't something that should have been modelled and replicated.

I thought gujratis were really anti Pakistan and islamaphobic.

Have you been keeping a count? You make it sound 50 is ok.

As Hindu extremism grows in India, things will get worse and conflicts will arise. I hope the moderate Hindu's stand up against this.

Soon they will stop their Muslim's from praying at home as well. It is just a matter of time that such a law is passed. Nope, Pak should never get involved in the affairs of Indian Muslims at all. Let the likes of Naseerudin Shah and Amir Khan deal with it. I totally agree with Indian folk who tell us "it's none of your business". As the great Allama Iqbal said "Yeh ek sajda jiss tu giran samajhta hai hazar sajdo se deta hai aadmi ko nijaat.".

Don’t quite get the reference ..... care to elaborate?

Pre-1947, Hindu mobs in UP used to throw pig heads into mosques. Compared to that this is progress as per that poster

In a way its good, from lack of grass looks like the park is watered first time ever, for the wrong reasons though.

Pre-1947, Hindu mobs in UP used to throw pig heads into mosques. Compared to that this is progress as per that poster

Yeah William Gould has a whole book on how in the 20s/30s already not only Hindu nationalism was already a thing in UP but also how the « secular » Congress embraced its rhetoric and made tacit alliances in the name of electoralism, Hindu nationalism is not a reaction to the Pakistan movement, as it’s often trumpeted, the truth is the opposite ; it’s by witnessing someone like Gandhi get enthusiastic for « cow protection » that Jinnah guessed how this « Indian secularism » social experiment would only last as long as the Hindu middle class would remain dormant, but since economic liberalisation in the 90s and it’s advent/empowerment this Hindu middle class will now play what it considers to be its providential role : establish Hindu sovereignty on Hindu lands which have been monopolised by foreign authorities for centuries.

Video proves nothing. I often see many small parks on both sides of the roads flooded with water especially near phase 2 Noida (industrial area where many Muslims and Hindu workers work in small automobile factories or garment export houses). Many times I have seen tractors with tankers attached arrive and just open the tap. I dont know why they do but it happens regularly even on saturdays and sundays.

We? What do you mean by that? On topic, pathetic if true.

Have you been keeping a count? You make it sound 50 is ok.

As Hindu extremism grows in India, things will get worse and conflicts will arise. I hope the moderate Hindu's stand up against this.

In india even a single death due to these elements is countable and very precisely i wud say in recent years. We have numbers and stats of everything .
You would be surprised if you get other facts and figures.

That's great, please show me all the numbers and stats of victims of communal violence including people of all faiths. Thanks

Try telling the good news of the 50 families that there loss is nothing big.

They did warn Muslims to stop praying in parks earlier, just making sure the orders are followed
