What's new

[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Ali Raza: A genuine quick bowler from Sheikhupura

I absolutely do not agree with those saying his lack of movement is a concern at this point.

As an overall package he has a lot going for him. Nice high arm let's him generate plenty of bounce. Very quick off the surface and got decent height as well.

People forget that Shaheen Afridi didn't develope his trademark inswinger until 2 years into his international career but even if Raza doesn't add swing to his game he has enough tools to be successful. I'd rather he doesn't change, just gets consistent and stronger with age.

He just needs 2 things- fitness and proper management of the games he is being made to play.

Fast bowlers aren't valued and looked after well in Pakistan because they think a new one will pop up every couple of years. This results in the recurring trend of running fast bowlers to ground, preparing brutal dead pitches and yet expecting miracles from the moment they make their debuts.

We found one decent batsman (Babar) and our whole system was moulded around him for 5 years. If only our fast bowlers got 1% of the support he got.

I think its a big concern, even at this early stage. The lack of movement can only be due to 2vreasons- a poor action or poor release. Both need lots of work and that work doesnt always pay off.

He never used to swing the ball even in PJL but does used to get slight seam movement if the pitch is hard and baked properly but he is not getting it here under damp conditions and moisture so he better bowl at the time when the sun has its effect on the pitch.

The first time I saw Ali Raza was against Hyderabad Hunters in a rain effected match.

His first over starts at 3 hours 55 minutes (3:35:-55-35) in the video on PJL channel: Video Here

He is able to generate swing & seam at a very decent pace for his age.

The reason why I am worried for him is that in 3 years he has shown very little improvement in the field or with the bat & his bowling is looking like a one-trick pony which just does not cut at the highest level.

People here expect to much he is still in development his weapon is pace other skills will develop with experience he needs to be invested as an asset by pcb which is a concern because pcb can't manage to cook an egg

No one is expecting miracles or anything out of the ordinary. Just don't want him getting lost to the system & hoping that there's a solid support system around him that can help him develop. Three years is a very long time for someone who is a professional cricketer and after that much time there should be some basic improvement.

Anything is better than Rauf, Naseem, Shaheen and the rest.

Our pace bowling is one of the worst in the world.

We need fresh blood. It doesn't matter if they are undercooked.

I dont see anything special in his bowling other than his over acting and useless staring at batsmen after every ball
