What's new

[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Ali Raza: A genuine quick bowler from Sheikhupura

I absolutely do not agree with those saying his lack of movement is a concern at this point.

As an overall package he has a lot going for him. Nice high arm let's him generate plenty of bounce. Very quick off the surface and got decent height as well.

People forget that Shaheen Afridi didn't develope his trademark inswinger until 2 years into his international career but even if Raza doesn't add swing to his game he has enough tools to be successful. I'd rather he doesn't change, just gets consistent and stronger with age.

He just needs 2 things- fitness and proper management of the games he is being made to play.

Fast bowlers aren't valued and looked after well in Pakistan because they think a new one will pop up every couple of years. This results in the recurring trend of running fast bowlers to ground, preparing brutal dead pitches and yet expecting miracles from the moment they make their debuts.

We found one decent batsman (Babar) and our whole system was moulded around him for 5 years. If only our fast bowlers got 1% of the support he got.

I think its a big concern, even at this early stage. The lack of movement can only be due to 2vreasons- a poor action or poor release. Both need lots of work and that work doesnt always pay off.
