As per the latest revision by IMF, India will reach its $5 trillion economy target by 2026-2027 i.e. two years earlier than they initially predicted. The new forecast also claims that India will become a $5.5 trillion economy in 2027-2028.

Rupee Ends At An All-Time Low, 5th Record Weak Close In 10 Days

New Delhi: The rupee closes at a new all-time low of 77.73 against the dollar, the fifth record weak close in the last ten trading sessions, even as the dollar took a breather after heavy gains and global stocks tumbled on increasing concerns that aggressive tightening by global central banks could choke growth.

Bloomberg showed the partially-convertible rupee weakened to its lifetime low close of 77.73, while PTI reported that the currency ended provisionally at 77.72 per dollar.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened lower at 77.72 against the greenback and ranged between a low of 77.76 and a high of 77.63 in intra-say trading.

On Wednesday, the rupee had closed at a record low of about 77.61 against the greenback on worries over stubborn inflation and economic slowdown.

lol, talk about having vested interests and being a stooge....

He has enough to remain your PM for at least another term.

And given the state of the opposition, it looks like that's exactly what you will get in 2024.
That's a given, even a layman can tell you that.

However, that doesn't diminish his outright lies and gross incompetence in whatever he does.

I see you didn't comment on historic depths Rupee has sunk to. Obviously, this doesn't affect you one bit and hence irrelevant comment like this but it does affect me a lot.

Congress can hold a million ‘Chintan Shivirs’ but can’t defeat BJP until Rahul is around

It is somehow typical of the mess that Rahul Gandhi finds himself in these days that on the rare occasions when he is completely right, the world still thinks that he is wrong. Take the recent attacks on him from leaders of regional parties over his speech at the Congress Chintan Shivir.

This takes us to the heart of the matter. Rahul says he knows that only the Congress can defeat the BJP. So why then doesn’t he realise that he is one reason why it hasn’t happened yet? Does he not see how badly he has screwed it up at two different parliamentary elections? Does he not think that the honourable thing to do would be to step aside?

Until he steps aside, the Congress can hold a million Chintan Shivirs and still, nothing will change.

They say you can’t teach a pilot how to take off without also teaching him how to land. The Congress has the opposite problem. It is in thrall to an obstinate pilot who doesn’t even know how to take off. But he has certainly learned how to crash-land.

Love the way how well this guy frames his articles especially when it comes to Congress. Some gems in the above article.

Must read and absolutely to the point.

"Don't Feel Guilty": Rajnath Singh To BJP Workers Over Rising Inflation

Pune: Stating that inflation has affected even rich countries like the United States, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said BJP workers should not have any "guilty conscious" about it.
He was speaking before a gathering of party workers in Pune.

"There is debate going on about the rising inflation....During COVID-19 pandemic, the entire economy was at a standstill. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with his prudence, did not let the economy deteriorate...and we should appreciate this," the senior BJP leader said.

Global supply chains were disrupted due to the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and import and export were affected, Mr Singh said.

"In this situation, it is obvious that it will have impact on any country. You will be surprised to know that in US, which is the richest country, inflation is highest in the last 40 years. At least India is better off. We should not have a guilty conscious," he added.

It does affect me actually.

But almost every country is facing this kind of inflation and a lot of them are going through even recession. So do you really think the BJP government is to be blamed entirely? India actually is faring better than many others.

Global factors have always been there, even during MMS's times when at least there was a proper recession in 2008. But sanghis (led by feku) didn't leave any chance to malign him.

As for inflation in India, lot of it is feku inflicted and you know it.

Even when crude was at its historic low (as low as $19 per barrel) , he didn't pass on its benefit to Indians and instead kept windfall gains with himself for years. Now he is sooking about India's high crude basket and even begging before gulf countries to reduce the prices of crude.

He kept jacking up the prices of petro products despite knowing fully well it'll jack up prices of all essential items which it did.

As for other countries being affected by inflation, well India is not a developed nation, far from it despite claims to the contrary.

If you are earning at least INR 25K ($324 per month) in India, you're in top-10% of earning people in India, that's how lopsided income distribution in India is.

Rest 90& of population isn't even earning that much per month, so think how much most of the Indian populace is actually affected by even miniscule price rise, let alone the humongous levels prices of essential commodities in India have risen to.

Have lived all my life in India but have never seen cooking oil (for instance) as expensive as it is for last 2-3 years. Maximum level it reached was @ INR 95 per liter. Now it has risen up to close to INR 200 per liter. That's the kind of price rise we (the ordinary Indian citizens) have been experiencing under feku.

PS: You would be knowing who has benefited most from this never before seen price rise in cooking oil, I need not name and shame him.

There are countless other such examples.

I saw this video of this oldish man walking back home from the market. They ask him about rising prices and he says he's fine and shows a small number of vegetables that he's bought. He adds he will boil and eat them because it's healthy and also since he can't afford too much cooking oil or gas. He also noted that he was using his cycle rather than his bike because of petrol prices. He finished by saying he was happy with Modi because the country was developing and that he'd continue to vote for him.

This would have been funny if it was a satirical piece. But it wasn't.

So many have been suffering due to oldies like that guy but he doesn't care because apparently country is developing, lol!

Did he ever think that why he himself has to part away from so many of basic necessities he was using earlier if India is developing under feku?

It was neither funny nor satirical. Its just that you guys are not able to come to the terms with reality.

There is a war going on just after the global pandemic. Price rice of gas and cooking oil is a global phenomenon. We are all struggling with it here in UK. My energy bills are going up every day. Same is the condition in other European countries, USA and APAC. Recession is on the horizon as a result of it. So India is not immune to it and Modi don't have any magic wand.

The oldish man's video whom you found funny and satirical is perhaps also as much distressed with the price rise as anyone else anywhere in the world. But he totally understand that it is not the reason to stop voting for Modi and look for an alternative, especially if the alternative is Rahul Ghandi. Its not as if petrol prices will magically go down if Congress comes back to power tomorrow.

It is only the liberals and NDTV types targets Modi for price rise since their all other attempt to topple the govt has failed. But majority of Aam aadmi (no pun intended) still supports him and hence he is still sitting at an all India approval rate of almost 80% after being in power for 8 years.

Except that India was facing its worst unemployment crisis, and the economy was being shredded BEFORE COVID and this Ukraine thing that seems to be the latest goto lol

Modi has been a colossal failure domestically and internationally as a PM and leader. But my point is, it still doesn't seem to matter, as people here seem under some kind of spell.

I don't know if some brainwashing gas was leaked and I might have escaped it while in the toilet or something. Or maybe smokers are immune to it. Or something else. On that aspect, I concede total defeat - in my lifetime I've never seen such dedication, like that oldish man, to dehumanizing yourself in service of another human :srt

Met a friend who works in the foreign services after a long time, and even he said that he has many things to say about the supreme leader during his foreign visits, and could not even say everything in person, and of the things he told me, I can't say those things on a forum.

Lol, first they blamed Covid and then the Russia-Ukraine war but their god must go unscathed from all the impact of one disaster after another he unleashed on India.

I too would never understand how could some be so subservient to someone who is so bloody incompetent at whatever he does and tells lies at the drop of hat whenever his gross inadequacies are pointed out.

What story? Price rise and inflation is global problem. We are in middle of recession and India is not agnostic to it.

Also, do you know how to read a linear graph? Or only copy-pasting? Lol. You are saying Indian economy was shredded long before covid but the graph don't suggest that. It says up until mid-late 2019 gdp was quiet linear to the inflation rate. How was India's economy shredded then?

The only people who are brainwashed are the haters like you. Too much NDTV and Ravish Kumar I guess. To prove Modi being a colossal failure as a PM is a pipe dream for many since 2014 but they are still not successful after 8 years...lol.

Dont worry- sab changa si.

And he wants to be prime minister of India who will bring economy back to shape as per Indian liberals :)))

Let me try and rephrase my response because my earlier one, despite my best attempts at mustering as much civility as I felt your post deserved, evidently didn't meet the standards of this website.

Before you try and feebly attempt to insult someone by mentioning copy-paste, try and educate yourself on what a linear graph is :)).

Also, understand that the effects of any action taken by a government is not reflected the next day or even year.

Unemployment levels were also record-high before COVID.

And as far as sab changa si is concerned, please let me know the optimum value on the sab changa si meter. And if it hits that value, please return home. Should you decide to move to Bengaluru, do let me know. We can continue this conversation in person. You can choose a public place :bumrah

It's amazing how you guys revel in your echo chambers and find so much peace and happiness there without caring to find out the truth for yourselves.

This is a classic example of the BJP IT cell at work, by cutting out the question. Cambridge have posted the full 1 hour-long talk on Youtube for anyone who cares to think for themselves. The question was about violence he has experienced in his life, specifically the assassination of his father. That's why he was silent for that long. And those pathetic BJP shills in the audience who were present there and had heard the question, clapping sarcastically, despite knowing the context. lol at their insensitivity. I laud him for his graceful calm response to the mocking claps. I hope one day, I can achieve that kind of calmness of mind when I read the rubbish some of you post here on PP and elsewhere.

And watching those BJP shills embarrass themselves during the Q&A made eating my breakfast while watching it, even more satisfying. They epitomized the most intellectual among rabid BJP fans. Half baked, half-read, but full idiot. He rekt them so bad and even allowed them pathetic comebacks when the host was trying to stop them, only to further watch them humiliate themselves. And the best part is, I saw one of those humiliations reposted on a Youtube Godi channel, but edited to make that fool in the audience seem like he was smart.

The shills also managed to drag in an English girl who cared so much about Adivasis, she had to read her question off her phone while stumbling through words and places. His response surprised her and the shills who were busy clapping before he could even answer her questions. I swear there's one guy you can see in the audience who stops his clap midway and holds the pose for a few seconds because he doesn't know how to respond. A truly out of the syllabus moment, that :))

Threat of recession is real in emerging countries, but things look better for India: President of World Economic Forum

The threat of recession is real, especially in developing and emerging countries, but in India, things look better, said Borge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum.

"It is real, and especially in developing countries and in emerging economies, we are seeing that they are faced with big challenges. I think for India, it looks better as we do think the country will grow 8 percent this year. But there are other countries that are really struggling," he said during an interview with CNBC-TV18 on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022 in Davos. The meeting will bring together nearly 2,500 global leaders to address current challenges during this time of heightened polarization.

The best part about the job crisis is, the government has stopped releasing data after that leak that showed a 45-year-old record high in unemployment. So now we can all bury our heads in the sand and pretend everyone is employed. Unless of course you are unemployed. In which case you can browse the net more and post more. Hardik Patel To Join BJP On Thursday: Sources

New Delhi: Hardik Patel, who quit Congress earlier this month, is expected to join the BJP this week, sources have told NDTV. The high-profile Patidar leader will join the BJP on Thursday (June 2), they said.

On May 18, Mr Patel quit Congress with a resignation letter pummelling Rahul Gandhi, who had brought him into the party in 2019. Top leaders, he wrote, "were distracted by their mobile phones" and the Gujarat Congress was more interested in ensuring "chicken sandwiches" for them.

All That Is Wrong With The Congress Rajya Sabha List

The problem with the Congress party is that it fears taking risks. It has forgotten that crises can be overcome only with bold and unconventional decisions. But apparently, the Congress Party led by the Nehru-Gandhi family is so low in confidence that it cannot see beyond loyalists.

The Rajya Sabha lists announced by the Congress sends a very depressing signal to the cadre that, at this time of unprecedented crisis, is still standing with the party. Except for a few, the list is full of Darbaris who owe their political existence to some member of the Nehru clan, who could easily be dubbed rootless wonders and who may, most likely, be the reason for the downfall of the Congress.

Well said, Ashutosh.

No wonder Congress is down in dumps. They just don't have stomach for fight and hence have been giving sanghis free pass for last 8 years.

Kind of dad's army they've assembled for their RS picks shows why they've lost almost every election they fought during last 8 years.

So all these statements from Hardik are now ok as they need Patidar votes in Gujarat assembly elections?

“It is Modi’s habit to tell lies, speak it loudly and repeat it. All development claims being made by Modi are hollow. I feel ashamed to say that I am a Gujarati. There is corruption everywhere,”

“We all know that Narendra Modi has orchestrated the 2002 riots. Reaping the benefits of the communal riots, first he became the CM and then went on to become the PM,” said Hardik in the letter.

“Development has not even taken birth in Gujarat. Saheb (Modi) talks of the Gujarat model. If that was the case, BJP would not have required leaders from other parts of the country to come and campaign in Gujarat,”

In 2016, Patel accused the BJP of offering him Rs 1,200 crore, via senior bureaucrat K. Kailashnathan, and the president’s post in Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha. “BJP wanted me to call off the quota stir, but I immediately rejected it,” said Patel.

The former Congress leader had also referred to Shah as “General Dyer” for allegedly ordering the police to act firmly against Patidar agitators, which led to 14 deaths, in 2020.

Patel had earlier said the BJP government failed to manage the Covid pandemic and unemployment rates. He also said people were “so angry they will throw out the BJP”.

India was suffering from low economic growth and high unemployment even before COVID

Even the BJP's own MP who was at one time, pre-Modi, considered their sterling Muslim-basher and potential UP CM had this to say a few weeks back which led to Owaisi quoting him which in turn led to Modi announcing his mega job creation plan yesterday.

यह जानना हर नौजवान का हक है! pic.twitter.com/dxtn64IeRz
— Varun Gandhi (@varungandhi80) May 28, 2022

It's ok though, all these people are liars, even the BJP ones.

Operation Kamal in full swing in Maharashtra! MVA government may not survive this crisis.

Mumbai: In another sensational twist amid the political storm in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena MLA Nitin Deshmukh, who was earlier presumed to have joined rebel Sena leader Eknath Shinde, has resurfaced voicing his support for Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He claimed that he was "kidnapped" and taken to Gujarat's Surat from where he escaped.

"I escaped and was standing on the road at around 3 in the morning trying to hitch a ride from passersby when over a hundred cops came and took me to a hospital. They pretended that I had a heart attack and tried to conduct some medical procedure on my body," he said, adding that he did not suffer any sudden health complications but was forcibly taken to the hospital.

lol, Indian politics is never short of drama.

Pity, governance always gets sacrificed during these instances.

Maharashtra govn might fall.. I always wondered how Marathi Manoos were ok with a NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena coalition.

Congress needs to change RG asap, this is literally a SOS.. they need a N Rao kind of leader.
There is absolutely no support for them right now!

Change RG and replace them with ?

N Rao was not a mass leader but a scholar and a shrewd politician who mostly worked in the background. Had he been the prime ministerial candidate he would have lost but won only due to a mega sympathy vote wave after RG sr’s assassination.

Congress doesn’t have a mass leader.

RG and other family members as incompetent as they are for the good or bad have some amount of mass appeal. There is not even a close no.2

Mass appeal comes from PR as well, PR can be attained by money, businesses back great orators(based on their business).

There are many business that do not like BJP , they need to back a certain good Congress orator.

Modi was a regional leader for a long time, , he was even hated among many till he went on the development reduced red tape model and Nano factory PR.
He gets backing from Adani,Reliance,Mahindra,Tata.

Don’t you remember how Advani was with BJP, taking it absolutely nowhere before Modi-Shah took over.

:))) Look at these guys running like rats. All parties have their share of these types, but they seem to behave more like this when they're headed for the BJP :warner

The last time Indian politicians looked this pathetic was when the BJP tried the same stunt in Karnataka and DK Shivakumar herded the potential rats in a bus out of town and hilariously stood guard on the footboard of the bus whenever the bus slowed down or was at a tollbooth. He knew very well some of them might try to slither out :))

Tough to vote for Congress as long as RG is their leader. The quality of this tweets are worse than Imran's and that's a achievement.

Still sanghis are better to vote for as Congress is being led by Rahul! lol, you may vote for anyone you want, its democracy after all, but don't hide behind the excuse of Congress being led by Rahul and the quality of his tweets. Matlab kuch bhi.

Rahul may be anything but certainly not power hungry and corrupt as feku has always been.

Rahul is not power hungry because he got power without working a single day in his life.

Honest truth.

Rahul is defacto Congress president because he is son of Rajiv Gandhi who was defacto PM because he was son of Indira Gandhi who herself was defacto PM because she was daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru.

For Priyanka Gandhi, it was even better. She is defacto Congress general secretary because her nose resembles that of Indira :))

Dare I say Bilawal has accomplished a lot more than Rahul Gandhi. He is actually working as a foreign minister and seems to be much better at communicating his thoughts than Ra Ga.

At least Modi has an inspiring rise in Indian politics even if people agree or disagree with his politics, has a huge body of administrative experience.

I can understand some people liking Ra Ga as an alternative to Modi because of the hate they have for him but unbelievable people actually think this Pappu can amount to anything in life. I feel sorry for him though. Seems like a nice guy but looks like a fish out of water even after 20+ yrs in politics lol. Weird that he has hardcore supporters :))

Wondering why this thread has not been bumped by usual suspects considering bypoll election results going on in India. So I (your's truly) did some digging and below is the headline:

Lok Sabha Byelection Result 2022 highlights: BJP wrests UP's Rampur, Azamgarh seats from Samajwadi Party; major setback for AAP in Punjab

Lok Sabha bypoll results 2022 live: The BJP on Sunday bagged two Lok Sabha and three assembly seats while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a setback in Punjab's Sangrur as results came in for the bypolls to three Lok Sabha and seven assembly seats spread across five states and Delhi. However, there was something to cheer about for the AAP as it won the bypoll to the Rajinder Nagar seat in the national capital.

And AAP was dreaming to form central govt in next general election :))

This is a trailer of what is coming up in 2024.

AAP has no MP in Lok Sabha. Zero.

Surprised no one bumped this thread. Uddhav Thackrey lead khichdi govt with Congress has been ousted from the house. Everyone thought Devendra Fadnavis (BJP) would take oath as Chief Minister. Then BJP high command played the master stroke sitting in Delhi. They made Eknath Shinde a rebel Shiv Sena leader as CM with Fadnavis his deputy.

Take that...that is how you play politics

BJP :bow::bow:

PM Calls Hyderabad "Bhagyanagar", Sparks Name Change Buzz

The RSS and BJP leaders have been demanding to rename the Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad or Bhagyanagar? Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the city for the big BJP meet, referred to Telangana capital as Bhagyanagar during his address to the delegates from across the country.

The Prime Minister said that it was in Bhagyanagar that Sardar Patel, the freedom fighter icon, had coined the term "Ek Bharat".

"PM Modi said that Hyderabad is Bhagyanagar which is a significance for all of us. Sardar Patel kept the foundation of a unified India and now it's BJP's responsibility to carry it further," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said in Hyderabad quoting the Prime Minister.

The RSS, BJP's ideological fountainhead, and several BJP leaders have been demanding to rename the Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar.

Yeah, this is what the country needs to progress further, name change of more cities.

Devendra Fadnavis orders shifting of metro car shed project back to Aarey Colony

After taking over as CM in 2019, Uddhav Thackeray had stayed the construction of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro 3 corridor and appointed a committee to look for alternative plots. Subsequently, his government designated Aarey colony as a reserve forest.

In his first cabinet meeting after taking charge as Maharashtra deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday overturned the decisions of former chief Uddhav Thackeray to shift the Metro 3 car shed out of the Aarey Milk colony and ordered a restart of the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan — the flagship water conservation scheme from his previous regime as the CM, functionaries familiar with the matter said.

This one happened with Congress too in West Delhi the metro originally was planned to go from the market but they instead put it on residential side(for obvious reasons) , my grandparents got their house broken and obviously the compensation was ridiculous.

Eventhough Congress Delhi has been the best , literally my entire family turned anti- Congress after that..(many still voted Congress till 2014)..
