[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Justice for Kamran Ghulam: Leading run scorer in Quaid e Azam trophy yet not in 17 man squad?

In odis yes but not in t20s like people have suggested.

Tbh even in T20s we are lacking someone who is good enough to take the innings forward and hit when required. The role which Malik was doing for a bit. At no 4 he can be that player, that would allow the openers to bat more freely rather than just trying to carry on so that the brigade of pinch hitters can hit a few on their day.

But he has a strike rate of 124 and that isn't good enough for international cricket.

Malik’s was 125 in T20I and 127 in T20s overall but, was a fine batsman for that no 4 position.

Also Kamran’s career SR doesn’t tell much about his performances in National T20 cup where his SR was around 145 as well as KPL. Yes in PSL it was slightly on the lower side but, he did the job required of him to build the innings for LQ. I am talking specifically for no 4 position where you need someone who can take the innings forward, I would love that to be done at SR of 140 but I don’t think we have a player who can get the job done (Which is a priority at that no 4) and at the same time does it with a high SR.

Iftikhar is doing that role currently and I dont mind in T20Is based upon his domestic stats but, Kamran can be a more long term option. Calibre wise Haider is there as well but, we will have too how soon his game matures up as you need that understanding of the requirements at that no 4 position which sometimes he seems to lack at this age.

Please let go and move forward guys. As tempting as it sounds, it’s a totally wrong call. Ive been watching Malik since his debut and I haven’t seen him performing outside of meaningless bilaterals vs Asia in Asia.

These guys (Khusdil, Iftikhar, Haider) are playing their first tournament. Relax folks, give these players time to develop. I was watching cricket in 90s and early 2000s when Malik and Hafeez were breaking into the squad.
At similar exposure level, these new guys have done much better than Malik and Hafeez.
Malik found his feet around 2005/2006. Hafeez even more, around 2008. Hafeez averaged 20-22 in his first 40-50 ODIs up the order.

Malik was nothing extraordinary no two ways about it. Yes was a sloid all rounder when he used to ball regularly in early and mid part of his career but, as a batsman he had a lot of limitations. His main skill was his ability to understand what is required in T20Is at no 4 and then play accordingly (Of course within his limitations).

I agree with giving the guys time as I have said for Khushdil and everyone else. Its the no 4 position which I am not sold on in LOIs. These guys are not the manipulators who can take the innings forward if we are 2 down inside 6 or 10 overs in T20Is or 15-25 overs in ODIs. Iftikhar is close to that but, he is 32 or so and is still inexperienced at international level while Haider is still maturing to bat anywhere above 5.

Kamran is a much more well rounded player in my opinion then Malik or some other guys we have tried at no 4 I believe. Its no mean task to break all time record of QAE for most runs and at the same time having enough adaptability to score T20 100, having a SR of above 140 in National T20 and being the third highest scorer in Pakistan cup. Shows his ability to adapt as per the situation and format which in my opinion is important to have at that no 4 position.

Yes something we can debate upon but considering lack of general experience in our lower middle order, such a player can be good for the combination I believe. Other ones are either not mature enough or not good enough.

And what exactly has kamran ghulam done

His recent performances in kpl don't really stand out as something special highest score of 39 and only picked up one wicket with the ball, he has been outscored by his teammate asad shafiq who at intl level wasn't even deemed to be good enough for limited overs but played as a test specialist at number 6 most of his career.

127 isn't that good we just call him a fine batesman due to his strike rate and average at home and against India. When you have Babar and Rizwan opening your next two batesman need to striking at 130 atleast . Kamran Ghullam is good and should target the number 4 position in odis and number 5 position in tests.

Also Babar and Rizwan job is to play all the Innings hence why I would not pick Kamran. If we was playing two aggressive openers then their might be a case for kamran if we didn't have Babar or rizwan around.

Second T20 half-century for Kamran Ghulam at the National T20

QeA22:

Kamran Ghulam added four runs to his overnight score of 89 to miss his 11th first-class century by seven runs. His 93 came off 205 balls and included nine fours and two sixes.

Him, Zafar Gohar and Babar are from the same era of U19s iirc. All 3 are quality but we’ve only fully invested into 1 for some reason.

Zafar and Kamran deserved to be tried out properly with a proper string of games in the last few years.

Perfect opportunity to brood him in against England

Azhar Ali is finished at international level. It’s not fair to keep him out because of Azhar, Imam and over the hill Fawad as well

If you bring him in now, he might give you 5-7 solid years and 40-50 Tests at an average of 45+

No point wasting this guy

Him and Saud in for Azhar and Fawad will make our test batting so much better.

Azhar Ali isn't going anywhere till he plays 100 matches :facepalm

He has been consistently scoring runs in fc for last few years. He deserves to be in the test team.Azhar Ali and Fawad Alam should retire from international cricket.

Kamran's continued exclusio from the Test squad in light of what we have seen in Rawalpindi from our so called batsmen makes no sense.

His spin would’ve been 10x more useful than the dross Agha was bowling too.

He should have been picked for the Aussie series and now this england series should be his 3rd in the side, instead we had to put up with losers like fawad Alam and Azhar Ali in the side.

Personally I think saud needed to be the first one to get a proper run. They got that right. Next is huraira, who should bat 3 for now.

Next we can choose between Kamran and Usman Salauddin or Omair Yousuf if we play 6 specialist batsmen.

Agha salman has done enough to continue playing for now.

Imam still doesn’t have me convinced (runs on dead tracks notwithstanding). Huraira can also open if the imam experiment eventually fails

I guess he's competing with Agha given that Saud has made a decent start in the current series.

Agha
Rizwan
the OK two openers

KG is technically better than 4 top order players in this line up

Another 100 in List A cricket. Shows temperament and keeps performing in all the formats. Of course not every year he will break the QAE record but, he has shown enough batting pedigree and most importantly game sense to be given a go at top level.

He should be in side already ahead as a batsmen ahead of fake all rounder Agha

One last hope left.
Who is next Hurraira?
Then who, foggy the bear?

I fear, just like Saud, they will pick him in ODIs and then discard him altogether when he should be picked for tests. Not that he can't do well in LOIs but he is more suitable for test cricket.

Kamran need to be making his debut vs NZ, if shan masood is picked ahead of him and is batting at 3 just shows how corrupt team selection is.

Should play in place of agha. He can also provide similar level part time spin also

He is probably about 30 years old, so has maybe a good couple of years in him going by Pakistan standards if they are fortunate

Needs to change his surname to masood and ul haq to gain selection.

Guess he will have to a wait a bit now for another chance?

The guy was panic called up by Muhammad Waseem whilst he was doing well in the Pakistan cup…only to be benched for 2 matches

I don’t understand why they are messing around with this guy? At least he was playing regularly for KPK and scoring runs at a good pace for them!

Playing as vice-captain in the 4th OD for Shaheens vs Zim Select

My question is what qualifies him for that?

What a hack with very poor technique.. Very poor performances on high scoring PSL wickets and clueless against Afghanistan.

Well 48* at the moment so not doing badly although, taken 71 balls!

Playing A grade cricket or emerging Zimbabweans is not the same as playing mens cricket at the highest level. He is living proof of that.

Strike rate of 69.62 is unacceptable in 50 over cricket, unless you are 15/4.

79 balls for 55 is just too slow!

Some of thier squad Zimbabwe have played in thier main team.

It exposes the quality of our 4 day domestic competition when players like Kamran and Huraira looks clueless even against minnow nation. I think we should have eye for talent and the groom that young kid in International cricket , domestic cricket not earthing any talent nor polishing it enough.

Their playing odis not 4 day or 5 day games.

Not good enough for international cricket. An aging cricketer who doesn't have the skills to compete at the top-level to begin with. Shouldn't waste a spot on him in the Shaheen's squad. Some are saying the same thing about Huraira but his domestic record shouldn't simply be rejected out of hand. He's young and has shown enough to warrant further investment in him.

Made captain today in the 6th OD vs Zim Select.

Look at the usage of bowlers - Mohammad Ali - your best bowler bowled 7 overs!

I feel this guy should have been picked for Pakistan to bat at number 3 in T20i

Babar the coward isn’t going to do it, this guy looks like he is adapting to the challenge

Is there something about this guy that the PCB knows but we do not know? Is there something wrong with him.

It is so strange that he has never been looked at for Tests, and his quality as a batsman translates into good performances in white ball format too. He should have been given plenty of opportunity by now

He was more deserving of a chance in the red ball format. He was on the team until he was dropped from the squad without getting any chance to showcase his skills.

Saud, Agha, and Ghulam were fighting it out for two spots. Agha got the nod for his bowling and then Saud got a shot ahead of Kamran because I suppose he has been on the waiting list longer.

Now he is fighting it out with Omair Bin Yousaf/ Huraira for the next top order spot that becomes available.

This is what Wahab Riaz had to say on Kamran Ghulam's inclusion in the T20 squad for NZ:

Question: Why was Kamran Ghulam dropped?

Wahab Riaz: I think he has done well in domestic cricket, but we still think that he needs more time to develop in T20 cricket. Kamran is part of our white ball plans, and we have also invited him to the camp in Lahore before the series.

If Kamran needs more time to develop in t20s then so does Haseebullah and alot more other players.

deserved to be in the test squad the year he had his record breaking run, unfortunately for him he was dropped without a shot and saud grabbed the open slot with both hands.

limited white ball player tho, dont see him adding anything which is currently missing.

LOL. Kamran who has been grinding in the domestic needs more time so we left him out of the test squad without giving him a single match even though he was in the team. Now we selected Haseebullah in t20 even though we have 2 WK already.

Kamran is not a white ball player. In terms of test cricket, he can replace Shan Masood.

Kamran was in the squad in for the red-ball cricket but unfortunately, he never got to play a single game and got dropped.

Ignored by the selectors but this guy is scoring runs and runs and runs.

Yet another 50 for this guy playing for Pakistan Shaheens against Bangladesh A.

He is not getting selected because???
NO PARCHI?

He has earned the right to atleast be selected in the test squad. There is zero consistency in selection for the Pakistan test team. Certain players get selected and then get dropped without playing a single match. They did the same thing to Hurraira in the last series. And they've done this to Kamran Ghulam in the past too. I remember him being in the squad for the New Zealand home series last year.

Your core team largely remains the same but the squad should include guys who have been performing well in FC cricket. Even if they end up playing zero matches in the series.

This practice of selecting guys and dropping them for absolutely no reason is so damaging and the selectors don't even realize it. It basically sends a message to the player that the team has zero confidence in his abilities or his performance in domestic cricket. On the other hand, consistently selecting your top domestic performers, even if they don't manage to make the playing eleven sends a strong message that they are basically next in line for an opportunity. So when they eventually make their debut they are not as insecure about their place in the side.

The fear of failure is clearly a big issue plaguing our cricketers. But our selection policies certainly don't do anything to solve this problem or give our players any kind of confidence.

Just guessing,
he is not from any of the major cities like Lahore, Karachi etc and he doesnt have any uncle/father/cousin in Pakistani cricket establishment? :nonstop:

He’s from the most in favour city Peshawar. Nothing to do with regionalism

Just pure stupidity that he hasn’t yet played a Test match for Pakistan

Then no uncle/cousin in Cricket set up.
How many players in Pakistani FC have better stats than him?

Not sure why you’ve started to peddle this narrative. Maybe you’re getting bored of repeating the same BCCI talking points about not playing Pakistan outside of ICC events. Regardless, can you name the players selected in place of him and who their relatives are in the PCB? Kamran deserves a shot and has gotten the short end of the stick from the selectors but if you’re goona make claims then please draw out the family trees of every Pakistani cricketer.

Everyone knows in entire history of Pakistani cricket that selections or non selections are made on who you know in PCB rather then merit.

If you think otherwise your being very niave to say the least
