That's why its always better if one batsman scores more than the other in a partnership so that the next batsman comes well in time and outscores both of them... In spite of such a big partnership GT may fall below the par score (considering the trend in this tournament) Bit of RCB/Kohli vibe with this batting...

CSK is depleted of bowlers. GT took full advantage of it.

Those hundreds are made against some really poor bowlers. Not going to read too much into those centuries from Gill and Sai.

In Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Titans clinched victory over the Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs. CSK, in pursuit of 232 runs, were held to 196 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Daryl Mitchell's brisk 63 off 34 deliveries and Moeen Ali's 56 off 36 added some fight for CSK.

Earlier, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan's explosive centuries propelled GT to a formidable total of 231 for 4. The GT opening pair amassed 210 runs, marking the joint-highest first-wicket partnership in IPL history, dismantling CSK's bowlers all over the ground. Gill contributed 104 off 55 balls, while Sudharshan smashed 103 off 51 after CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first after winning the toss.

Worst performance alert:

Punjab is now the first franchise to not reach the IPL playoffs in 10 successive seasons. Changing the name of the franchise won't work.

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been fined Rs 24 lakh for maintaining slow over rate during the IPL match against Chennai Super Kings. It was his side's second over rate offence of the season, and subsequently rest of the playing 11 members, including the Impact Player, were individually fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser. On Friday, GT defeated defending champions CSK by 35 runs to stay alive in the IPL.

As per media reports, Axar Patel will lead Delhi Capitals in absence of Rishabh Pant against the RCB

Yes indeed Punjab is one of the worst IPL team along with DC. RCB at least has seen some highs (like reaching Finals, Playoffs, setting some records, some super-star culture, some entertainment, more than anything the Crowd Support!) Punjab & DC are plain pale (looked good only for few moments when they had players like Sehwag, Dhawan, Yuvaraj, Miller, etc. They could not retain any of them for longer time though!)

Rain may start playing spoilsport from hereon... Even tomorrow's RCB vs DC game can get affected in Bangalore

KKR vs MI, 60th Match at Kolkata

MI win the toss, and skipper Pandya opts to field against KKR

Additional playing conditions:

Powerplay: Overs 1-5

One bowler can bowl a maximum of 4 overs while three bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs

That is what you call peach. An yorker length generally doesn't move much. But this one moved off the seam. Narine had no idea.

Kamboj is more than a change bowler. He bowls at 140k and hits hard lengths.
I hope he can bat as well. India needs a pace bowling all rounder desperately.

Well played Iyer. This is what counter attack should look like. If this was KL Rahul, he would have shut the shop the moment Salt and Narine went cheaply.

Kolkata Knight Riders finished their innings at 157/7 in a reduced reduced 16 overs per inning match against Mumbai Indians.

Rohit looks very uncomfortable 14(13)* with one six off a full toss. Hope he clears his mind before the World Cup.

Kishan is keeping the game alive 38(19)*
Rohit struggling. 17(18)*.
MI on par with NRR. KKR need wickets. Need Russell?

Rohit departs 19(24). A very impact less innings. SHould be dropped/rested. Let others play

Rohit is done. Tough to see him struggle this bad.

Kishan gets all the criticism for being out of form, but Rohit is even worse. I would pick Kishan in my team over Rohit any day.

He is going to suck badly in WT20 too. Wasting all the power play and getting out to a stupid shot.

Only BCCI thinks that Rohit is still world class and in prime form.

Narine and Chakra have bowled really well. MI need 71 runs in 32 balls. And Sky departs.
KKR should bag this one.

Pandya brings himself up the order yet again. I havent seen all the games, but the little I have seen, he has always promoted himself up the order and just effed up the games.

Will he create some magic today?

Chakra bamboozles clueless Pandya.

Boy this bloke could have been in the T20I squad..alas!

Chakra should be MOM, and the game should be done, unless we see some miraculous hitting

Varun is an excellent spinner. Much better than Axar. The issue is A at is selected because he can bat.

One trick ponies will always find it hard to get in the squad. But some how batsmen do get selected because even though they cannot bowl.

Well Chakravarthy played last WT20 after a very good IPL but failed massively..

"massively"? how. under dew Starc went for like 50 runs in 3 overs or so in the final. He was unuclky to bowl in the worst condition. He is still way better than what we carry.

One game each day is like grinding out every single penny or rupees IPL owners pays to the players. Even football world cup which is the world biggest event has like double or triple header basically each day.

Rohit's form should be pretty concerning for the Indian fans. We understand the feeling when you are expecting your captain to perform but he looks completely out of touch especially when the world cup is around the corner.

BCCI is dragging rohit on the basis of his reputation only otherwise his performance would not have earned him a spot in the team.

So Sunny ji have no issue with Sharma ji batting
Team was selected even before IPL. Remember. Jay shah made him captain long before IPL. BCCI was planning to drop Kohli. Rohit insisted on having Kohli. They should have waited till IPL before announcing the captain. Otherwise SKY could have gone as captain. Now we have two of the worst players going in as Captain and Vice captain.

The people who invested want to maximize returns. Very fair in my opinion. Also, the fans don't seem to mind this at all. They are lapping the games up. Though I do not know what the exact current season figures are.

Their money their rules!

Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals, 61st Match:

Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and have opted to bat

Innings Break

Rajasthan Royals 141/5 in 20 overs (R Parag 47*; S Singh 3/26) vs Chennai Super Kings in an IPL 2024 match

Very good innings from Parag. Gave RR something to fight for. But think CSK are favourites here.

Chennai Super Kings (145/5) beat Rajasthan Royals (141/5) by 5 wickets in an IPL 2024 match

Ishant Sharma might be the only guy in the world who can get Kohli out and laugh at Kohli’s face…and Kohli wouldn’t mind.

He’s such a lovable guy

RCB are very lucky in this game.. First DC dropped plenty of catches leading by Axar Patel; Then DC's two main hard hitters ran out...

RCB vs CSK will be decider for a spot in playoffs.

^

There is still a noticeable gap in NRR of both teams so RCB has to beat CSK by a big margin to get into playoffs assuming LSG don't win both their games.

From Cricbuzz
Battle of NRR : RCB will surpass CSK's run-rate if they win by 18 runs or more on May 18 (assuming they score 200 batting first). If the target is 201, they'll have to chase it down with roughly 11 balls remaining.

Doable tbh.. it's home game for RCB..

Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their fifth consecutive victory to keep their IPL 2024 playoff dreams alive as the Faf Du Plessis-led side defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs on Sunday. The win means that RCB now have 12 points from 13 matches and their final league match against Chennai Super Kings can decide the fate for both teams. RCB will reach 14 points if they can beat CSK and that will put them in a good position to end up in the Top 4.

CSK earlier defeated Rajasthan Royals and as a result, RCB will have to win by a good margin in order to end up with a superior Net Run Rate (NRR).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowled and fielded brilliantly to beat Delhi Capitals by 47 runs. Having managed only 187 for 9 after a blazing half-century by in-form Rajat Patidar, RCB bowled out lackluster DC for 140 in 19.1 overs. Patidar (52 off 32 balls) and Will Jacks (41 off 28 balls) added 88 for the third wicket in little under nine overs.

But Yash Dayal (3/20) and Cameron Green (1/19) were brilliant with their lengths as none of the Delhi batters save stand-in skipper Axar Patel (57 off 39 balls) made a mark.

DC are best friends to RCB... Lost to them and now beating LSG to help RCB...

RCB's fortune is now only in its hands! Win against CSK with good margin and go through... What else you want?

Rasik Salam has improved as the season progressed. Brilliant final over.

Ishant Sharma also done well the past few games.

LSG has 2 bowling all rounders in Arshan Khan and Yudhvir Singh. Both have the ingredients to become class all rounders. Something India desperately needs.

Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs delivered commanding fifties for Delhi Capitals, showcasing their batting prowess in a crucial match against Lucknow Super Giants. Porel's blistering knock of 58 runs off just 33 balls set the tone for the innings, while Shai Hope's contribution of 38 off 27 balls added firepower to the team's aggressive start. Together, they formed a formidable partnership, amassing 92 runs off just 49 deliveries, laying a solid foundation for their team.

Tristan Stubbs further consolidated Delhi's position with a scintillating unbeaten innings of 57 runs from 25 balls. His innings was marked by three fours and four maximums, as he unleashed a flurry of boundaries to propel the team's total. Stubbs found able partners in Rishabh Pant, who contributed 33 runs, and Axar Patel, who remained unbeaten on 14, as they added crucial runs to the scoreboard.

With a formidable total of 208 for 4 on the board, Delhi Capitals turned to their bowlers to defend the target. The bowlers responded brilliantly, executing their plans with precision to stifle the opposition's batting line-up. Despite a valiant effort from Nicholas Pooran, who scored a quickfire 61 off just 27 balls, and Arshad Khan's unbeaten 58 off 33 balls, the Lucknow Super Giants fell short of the target.

In the end, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious, clinching a 19-run win to keep their slim IPL play-off hopes alive. It was a clinical performance from both bat and ball, highlighting the team's determination and resilience in a crucial fixture.
