[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Mohammad Haris - Aggressive wicket-keeper batter

Saim showed application...
He will learn to apply himself, just like Saim did, when he is selected despite the failures.

I remember Saim scoring 150 or so in the Champions Odi Cup; that was the first time he got his down, cut out the unnecessarys, the no look shots, and just 'applied' himself. All this was possible because selectors showed faith, no reason why same can't be done for Haris.

I think he has the right sort of game to be persisted with ... aagay dekhtay hain.

Haris has played U19s and various domestic competitions and yet to show application. Saim is a proper batter who can move throw the gears. Haris just plays in one way.

The opener we need is someone who can do 15 ball 30 at least 3 out of 10 games. These are more valuable than 50 from 40 balls 6 out of 10 games. Data shows that teams that score the most runs in PP win more games.
Yes Haris is suited for that role

Given the nature of Haris's risky aggressive batting and behind the wicket shots. He may also fit in as no. 6 or no. 7. As a finisher. A role that Pakistan will need for a foreseeable future.

He's super inconsistent. The same posters lauding him now will be raking him through the coals when he scores 50 runs across his next 5 innings. He's a good hitter, but his game needs to develop a lot more. He's the right kind of player, but I'm not sure he's the right player. Given the dearth of talent in Pakistan however, there are few alternatives.

If his statistical performance is the benchmark, then haider ali also deserves a recall to the t20i squad.
Consistency is the wrong metric for T20I opener. It has to be traded off against explosiveness in the top3 so even if 1 has a good day, the PP score is 70 or 80 runs and game becomes one sided. That’s how T20Is are being played these days.

Now he is in the team and there is no way he can botch this chance. He is a premier keeper now so he should be serious about his game. I hope he does what he is selected for.

I think he should have been the captain instead of Salman whose own place in t20s is not justified but yeah, PCB is PCB

He is excellent against pace but a bit dodgy against the swinging ball
Against spin he is just average.
So we need to maximize him in pp against the fast men.
In any case, he has far more potential in all departments than RizBar have. Much rather he is invested in.

Mohammad Haris in a media talk at LCCA Ground:

Q: Style of cricket to play in New Zealand

"We received a message from management, so we will go there and assess the conditions. Sometimes, you have to play carefully, keeping the situation and demands of the game in mind, but we will try our best to follow what the management demands from us."

Q: At which position do you want to play?

"I have played 9 T20 matches, and only in 1 match did I open. So, even if I am kept in the 15, it will be an honor for me. Wherever they ask me to bat, I am ready to play, even if I don't get a chance to bat and only keep the wickets. It will still be an honor for me."

Q: After the comeback, about 2 years

"After being dropped, I went back to my coaches, worked hard with them on my shortcomings, and played many domestic matches. I worked to fix some issues, so now you will see a changed Mohammad Rizwan in 2025."

Q: About the consistency in given chances

"It is also the responsibility of the player that, no matter how many matches he gets a chance to play in, he needs to take responsibility and perform. I will do the same—whether I get 1 or 2 chances, I won’t make excuses but will try to seize the opportunity and perform."

Q: How much will you miss Babar Azam?

"When he comes to play for Zalmi, I will play with him, but right now, I will play with whatever squad is available."

Q: About the captaincy of Shaheens and missing top players of Pakistan

"Whenever I get a chance to captain the Shaheens, I always try to meet expectations and enjoy the responsibility. As for Fakhar Zaman, we will definitely miss him for how he has played over the last few years. Regarding Rizwan and Babar, it's the choice of the selectors, and whatever players they select, we are obligated to play with them."

Q: What would be the strategy to play in New Zealand this time?

"It depends on your mindset. If you think things are going to be difficult, they surely will be. But my mindset is positive. I’ve already played in New Zealand, so staying positive is key to getting positive results."

Q: About the playing intent

"I have the same positive intent, but now you will see more responsibility in it. I used to take too many risks when playing shots, but that’s not how things work. You need to be a little cautious when playing your strokes. So, now you will see the same positive intent from me, and I will try to score good runs with a better strike rate."

Q: About the potential of this new team going to New Zealand

"It's all about the mindset. Whether it's a new team or an old one, you have to play with a positive intent. Our goal is clear: to defeat New Zealand at their home. Whether we face their A team or B team, we are just focused on winning the game."

ownage? its two decent blokes who know modern white ball cricket better than you do having a difference in opinion and assessment regarding a good white ball prospect.

You should discuss Azaan Awais and Imam ul Haq. Or why Jahandad Khan should replace Shan Masood in Test cricket. That's your territory.

If the bold part is true, I can't say I'm surprised. Mediocre fans find common ground with mediocrity.
