PM Imran Khan urges overseas Pakistanis to contribute to dam fund

The graph's slowing down. I think we'll be raising about 2 billion in a month, not more than that.

What about the other measures we were hearing about?

That is incorrect. With all the publicity and hype, the current average is Rs1 billion a month. The figure is only going to go down.

You do realize that you cannot just throw random numbers out in this day and age of internet right?

On 24th August 2018 the funds stood at Rs 1.259 billion and on 25th September 2018 (today) the funds stand at Rs 3.929 billion.

The massive jump you see is the donation of Rs1 billion by Pak Army and 0.8 billion which was raised through Karachi fundrasing dinner. If we minus these two donations, the average is more or less Rs 1 billion or less a month.

We were going to donate a day's pay but then we all remembered Mamoon 's words about it being Chanda and decided to go and eat some food

This seems to have taken a bit of a back seat in the past week or so, what is the progress on this?

This was always going to be one gigantic challenge to accomplish not impossible though by any means. This will happen as it has to happen and there is no option of failure in this. This has Pakistan's survival dependent on it.

Cmon people let's promote this as much as we can. This is imperative for the survival of our GREAT NATION!

This really seems to have taken a back seat considering the gravity of the issue it should and must be on the top agendas of the govt.

A friend of mine who by the way is donating to the dam fund.

"When Pakistan needs money they look to us overseas Pakistanis, yet many within Pakistan don't even recognise as Pakistanis or respect us as Pakistanis."

I believe that is the wrong perception.

Vast majority of Pakistani do not believe in that.

Well after this jihad failed, our savior has been quite angry at overseas Pakistanis and their hot air support and patriotism.

He has decided to channel his anger by imposing an absurd tax on overseas Pakistanis who will be returning to the newly established Madinah state with new mobile phones.

Who will be returning to Pakistan with more than one mobile phone. Having said that, it is a nonsensical solution to a simple problem.

1. Problem: smuggling of mobile phones into Pakistan for commercial purposes
2. Solution: tax everyone who comes to the UK with more than 1 mobile phone.

A proper solution would have been to pass legislation making the smuggling of mobile phones illegal and punishable by a heavy fine and/or imprisonment.

Prosecute those who are caught bringing large quantities of phone into the country and set an example.
