Great session from England to keep them in the series. Leach bowling it on a sixpence, Stokes full of heart, Anderson brilliant.

Agree that Bess was a pointless recall and it should be Broad or Stone playing instead of him. Conventional swing through the air with the older ball and we have chubby Dom Bess coming on to bowl his full tosses lol.

Harsh but funny :)))

Leach and Anderson seem to be the only players who have advanced this series.

Indian batting has been poor for a while.

Even in the Australia series it was the lower order and Pant which bailed them out for a few innings barring the one Rahane century.

Pant, Sundar will have to bat well. England will look to wrap this inning under 225-230( preferably under 200) and then bat well in 3rd inning.

Bess needs to be backed, spin bowling is about confidence, I'm sure he can turn it around, there was no point playing Moeen in the second test if he wasn't available for the rest of the series.

That will set th8is match well. I will love to see Indians chasing some decent target.

Is it true that James Anderson has not managed to get Kohli out a single time since the 2014 series where he made Kohli his bunny? I guess since then they’ve played in 2016, 2018 and now

India look knackered. This is their 8th grueling Test match in no time against a top team.

They appear to be mentally and physically tired.

Nevertheless, this is shaping up to be another classic.

England have played very good cricket in this series and have shown why they are the biggest threat to India in India and they probably deserve to walk away with a 2-2 draw, but that would mean that the WTC Final will be contested between two teams that do not deserve to be there in the final.

The ICC needs to revise how it allocates points for the next edition.

Australia do not deserve to be in the final because they lost to Indian reserves at home; New Zealand do not deserve to be in the final because they played only one away series against a top team (Australia 2019) and got rinsed.

Both India and England are more deserving to be in the final, and New Zealand less so than Australia.

Hard to say this, but Rohit Sharma is our most important batsman this series.

That's correct. Though there were some dropped catches in the 2018 tour.

Gill was also a star in Australia. And Pujara soaked up hundreds of deliveries even if he wasn't scoring that many runs.

Every innings by Rohit in whites as an opener is a reminder to the Indian management of how they wasted his potential over the last 4-5 years.

He should have made his opening debut in 2015 not 2019.

They have looked poor in this series except for Rohit. Mentally not there it seems.

Pujara in particular is mentally exhausted and needs a break. He gave everything in Australia and has not been his usual self in this series.

A fresh and focused Pujara would eat Leach alive.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. His play looks very tired and absent against spin. That's not usual.

Not ICC's responsibility which teams are fielded by their boards. Personal favourites don't matter when it comes to points table.

At home, we haven't lost anything since 2015. So, it doesn't make any difference. It is away performance which is a question mark for Rohit and he still has to give answers for that.

England tour will be rohit's real test

Axar to destroy Eng in second inning.

It's not turning that big. Eng just needs to bat better to put some runs. If Eng can pick up 6 wickets cheaply here then they can take a decent lead as well. India has to bat last so 200 runs will be not easy.

I was once watching one of the interviews of virat kohli where he said that once he realize there is no hunger in him to score and he is playing just for the sake of it he will no longer play so i am assuming, that may be he will called it off after 2023

Rohit is India’s best batsman at the moment, no doubt about that.

Half of these players didnt feature the last test vs Australia and Kohli did a runner after the first Test vs Australia so I am not sure what you are on about.

No need for any excuses.

So India apparently played C team in Australia series but India A team is the one which is knackered?

Most of those players did not feature because they were injured, and now they have subjected to 4 grueling Tests immediately after recovering. They have not been allowed to ease back.

Kohli is just going through a lean patch. He is one of the greatest ever to hold the bat and he will bounce back. It happens to the best of them.

Overall, playing 8 matches in no time against tough opposition has taken its toll on the Indian side.

has playing 7 test matches in Asia in quick succession not taken similar toll on England side?

Grr what is Bess’s problem, seems to bowl 5 good balls every over but there is always a lemon meringue pie in there somewhere which goes for a boundary.

Jimmy’s economy rate really is astounding

They were injured. They weren’t rested.

They have been brought back right away and made to play another grueling, long series. They weren’t allowed to ease in.

Lol so they were gonna be knackered no matter what? If they’d played all 4 tests in Australia they would obv still be knackered. Nice one. Got it covered on both ends

Victory has defeated Kohli.

He’s way too comfortable right now in cricket and life. No longer has the hunger he once did.

If he can’t find it in the next two years, he should retire.

6.

And it has, the batsmen have lost focus. Root in particular looks tired.

But a fit and fresh India would beat England in India 9/10 times though.

Karthik mentioning important point of Pujara putting his pad as his first line of defense and not his bat, something which Dravid used to do so successfully.

Sad to say that Bess is not test class currently. I have never seen an England bowler serve so many pies. He should go back to Zummerzet and sort out this full toss pastie problem. Root would do better as a frontline bowler in this match.

Great stroke from Rohit, nothing wrong with the ball.

There was a time when India score 600 run's for fun but nowadays they can't even get 200

Another great stroke from Rohit, this time off Jimmy!

Root will be forced to bring himself on soon. Bess just can’t resist serving up more of his all-you-can-eat buffet every over.

This pitch show both team batting is poor in this series .this is not pitch where team got out around 200

Dom bless playing test after first test match..He will take some time to settle. Still a good bowler

Top class bowling from Eng except for offie. Missing one pacer here.

Genuine inswing through the air from Stokes for the dismissal of Rohit. Odd that conventional swing is being seen in these conditions.

Eng should bowl Leach. He has a lot more control.

^^
The number of umpires calls that have gone against India...
At least England have only the pitch to cry about when this sorry tour is done 1-3 :rabada2

Microclimate effect in this nearly-covered bowl stadium?

We hav 3 tailenders as middle order lol.

:))

Would be a sad sad day if we lose.

Next 1.5 hours most most crucial.

Lionhearted Stokes has taken 2-25 off twelve overs today, a fine effort from the usual fourth seamer / occasional bowler.
