No one said that he should be dropped for good, but he definitely needs to be pushed hard because his batting, keeping and fitness is deteriorating. The hunger and intensity is nowhere to be found.

Look everybody is trying hard along with him. It might be because of too much shuffling in the batting order. He might get rest if India doesn't come, to get back to his normal fitness. It could be because of mental fatigue as well.

I would have been inclined to drop him if our other Batsmen were doing well there is no excuse for his brain fades.But even after being so dire in this series he is still our third highest run getter with an average of 38.

Malik was averaging 99 before this series and everyone was praising him to the hilt this series he averages a paltry 26. People attacked Misbah that he could not carry on and win matches like Malik did well this theory went bust the minute Malik faced a top quality team shouldn't he be penalised as well he is a veteran in ODI's and throwing away his wicket like he did yesterday and the run out in the 3rd match was criminal.
Malik has had a settled position in this series still he was found wanting.

Malik is not beyond criticism, but his performance and that of Rizwan's etc. does not justify Sarfraz's. Third scorer or not, he has been very poor on this tour and keeps throwing his wicket away. This 'he is the third top scorer and averages 38 etc.' excuses were used for the likes of Umar as well, but it was his mode of dismissals and refusal to learn from his mistakes that proved to be his downfall. I'm not saying that he will go the Umar way but it is certainly worrisome but there's no point in attempting to deflect criticism.

Did I say he should not be benched I said sure bench him but bench Malik with him as well he is a veteran in ODI's who should have carried on and scored a 100 not get out after making a paltry 50 and cementing his place in the team.

Malik has performed much better than Sarfraz in ODIs post World Cup, he has been literally twice as good, so your logic is faulty at best.

Missed an easy stumping in the last game

and misses two stumping and catch opportunities in one over today against lahore.

His poor keeping is just non stop:nonstop: and has only regressed.

Funny thing is....He is fumbling (Just fumbled while babar is bowling to Umar, Might have taken an edge too) even when KP is doing the captain's job and engaging bowlers and fielders.

Has always been crap with the gloves as I and so many people have been saying repeatedly.
 
Not good keeping but isn't Lords traditionally a difficult ground to keep on for touring teams- not sure if I have this right but something about the slope and/or ball movement which made it hard to follow the ball as a keeper?

Anyhoo I could have that totally wrong, bit I recall reading about this somewhere.
 
Can Sarfraz make that many runs in 2nd inning which Cook will make in 1st inning after dropped?
 
Its ok guys just one catch. Wont judge him on this his keeping has improved in recent times.

I grew up in the same neighborhood and was a year junior to Rameez at the same school and so on. He was and still is a morph. Wants to please whosoever he is with. Remember well, critical the 15% rule on Sky and calling it a good thing for cricket in Sri Lanka.

He has dropped catches as well, but I have always had the impression that Adnan is the best and most natural WK in the country. However, he is a tailender with the bat and simply can't compete with Sarfraz on that front.

So yes, you are right that Sarfraz is the best option, and we have to put with him for the next few years until someone else steps up.
 
I used to defend this guy.

Kamran Akmal v2, he just dropped the match. Sydney 2010 it is again.
 
With Kami, we at least get a clutch batsman who is excellent against pace.

No need of deflecting attention from his poor keeping with sarcasm, but Kamran should have been on board in place of Rizwan.

Sarfraz is no Bairstow and de Kock, and his keeping has always been mediocre, but his batting has been vital for us and no one is a better option at the moment.

Having said, it has been a long time since he has made a meaningful contribution with the bat in Tests and is overdue a hundred.
 
Technically, Kamran was/is a better keeper than Sarfraz. His footwork is better and so are his hands.

However, cricket after all is a game of character and mentality, which Kamran lacks in abundance and Sarfraz possesses in abundance.

No sarcasm man. I've always liked Kami against pace but he had become inconsistent.

But he won't be any worse than Sarf.

And Sarfraz keeping isn't good enough, just dropped the match.

After someone like Kamran who single handedly cost us a Test Match vs Australia in 2010, only a maniac would go back to him..

He dropped one catch in the entire series vs England...

And he dropped one, but caught two (unfortunately one was not appealed by anyone) today..

However still a long way to go... People made comments about him earlier in the England series but he was on point for the whole series after that

What happened 6 years ago is not relevant. On current form, he's better than Rizwan and deserves to be selected as backup batsman/WK on merit.
 
He is a lot better than the likes of Saha and Parthiv who miss a couple of chances a match.

I don't think alot of people go by the way you think... we are the sort of people who select horses for courses.. Umar Gul was selected for our ODI series vs England in 2016 for the performances he gave in 2010.. same was the case of him playing every t20 world cup since 2009 on the performances he gave in that one tournament..

Similarly Amir is playing on the back of his performances in 2010, even though he is a shadow of his former self..

There are other examples, however with the logic being given above, Kamran might feature in the ODI series on the basis of his performances here back in 2010, Umar might get a feature too
 
Kamran Akmal himself was a regular feature in our t20 worldcups on the back of his performances in 2009
 
Should have taken that catch today.

A top class keeper would have grabbed that chance without too much trouble.
 
Sarfraz deserves the scrutiny as any international keeper does. But one cannot deny he has improved a lot, he's committed. He's got fitter, batting has improved, he never looks like he's taking anything for granted.

Plus, him being in the team keeps the Akmal clan away.

I love the guy but batting has improved? He needs to perform better in test to hold his place now.
 
Are people talking about the bit where he dropped Smith on 97 off Azhar or was it something else?

Costly drop but hang on you cant blame him for other bowlers incompetence to take wickets. Apart from Amir no one looked a little threatening. Even the worse of Amir is miles ahead of Rahat and Wahab
 
sarfaraz isnt the best keeper in the world but hes better than bairstow and wade, and his batting is excellent and hes the best keeper in pak, england australia and other countries have good domestic keepers to choose from atleast but we really dont, u trolls thinking that adnan akmal and kamran should be brought back, seriously thats just pathetic

Sarfraz fans have a tendency to ignore everything when PPers point out his faults as keeper but I hope they are listening to the commentary of Ian Healy, M Taylor, Bill Lawry on his performance behind the stumps and its impact on rest of the team's morale.
 
If Sarfraz is the best keeper we have in the country then we don't deserve to win anything

He seems to become absent minded in the later parts of the game especially when Pak aren't getting wickets.
 
His keeping is better than Rizwan and Kamran Akmal but not clean enough. Sadly.

Don't see his keeping improving hope it doesn't degenerate further.

It demoralises the team and

It has gone from being casual to careless at this point and he just does not seem to be feel interested. Is it the result of knowing that he will not be asked to correct these issues and he has become un drop able? Keeper's impact is always more on team than his own individual performance and he does not seem to care enough for his role and its impact on the team
