akthar makes katich play and miss. mcgrath will be licking his lips at

Akhtar beat Katich again, Katich seems to be having trouble against Akhtar

I am really baffled by what Pollock said in the beginning. He said Afridi is being used as a batting option

Shoib Akhtar is being wasted here. Pollock should have stuck with himself and Flintoff and brought Shoaib in with the old ball.
 
Shoaib will be wasted if he bowles with old ball. His best chance is with new ball.

Question is why they did not opt for a better keeper. Is he such a good batsman?

Maybe because Vettori is a better bowler than Afridi and has bowled very well against the Aussies on numerous occasions? Maybe it's just me or is that a good enough reason?
 
Now they should try Vettori first if he fails then they can directly call Afridi for Vettori, who can boll for wicket.

He can come in at any point in the game, if he comes in for a bowler who hasn't finished his ten overs then Afridi can finish off the remaining overs for that bowler. If he is subbed on for a bowler who has finished his ten overs then Afridi cannot bowl but can field and then bat in the second innings.

I'm sure Afridi will get a bat after he's brought on for someone like Murali after his ten overs are done
 
If you think Afridi's anywhere NEAR Vettori's calibre with the ball, you must be quite mad.

Afridi's got little control over line and length, unlike Vettori who has a near-immaculate control over that, flight and has a fantastic ODI record in recent years - particularly against Australia.
 
My guess would be Afridi to dome in and bat and Murali to be subbed off after bowling. Afridi cant bowl if he replaces someone who bowls.

I understand capabilities, but if you have selected Vettori in final 11 then you cannot send him back without using him.

u may be right, but i was wondering why would u have 2 offies in the same side? sehwag can bowl part time off spin. but doesnt matter as afridi can come in for an unfinished spell and also get to bat.

dude against Australia, Afridi is far more better bowler than Vettori in both average and strike rate. check out the stats.

Vettori doesn't bowl offspin and Murali is in his own freak of nature bowling category as well
 
I am currently watching the game,

Sohaib Akhtar has bowld very well, he's gone for some runs must of the runs came from Gilchrist. Those were good deliveries, Gilchrist is in good nick. His overall bowling was good. Good bouncers, outswingers here there. He bowled with some consistent pace round 148 k, you clearly see Shoaib has gained some weigh.

bruv shoaib always has the same problem so does sami they both bowl very well but dont take wickets and go for runs. this is the way it has been in the past and the tradition seems to be carrying on.

eh?!?! Dravid is a STUNNING player even in ODI's, if anybody should have made way for Afridi it ought to have been Pietersen. Saying Vettori and Dravid should be benched shows how little some folkses know :))
