Shakib Al Hasan overrated as an all-rounder?

Mashrafe Mortaza also joined Awami League. His house was burned down.

While I do not support burning down houses, he rightfully attracted public anger by joining Hasina's evil party.

I have a relative; her husband was a high-ranking Awami League official. He now has 2 cases pending. He is hiding in USA; can't return to BD. LOL.

Anyway, I have never liked Shakib. Very arrogant. Zero manner. Tend to put money over country/religion. A shameless person. :inti

Read my first 2 paragraphs again.

He has a murder case pending --> https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...in-murder-fir-during-political-unrest-1448471.

Also, looks like you don't know much about Awami League atrocities. Check on Google.
Before replying, I actually wanted to read up on what you were talking about. After reading up couple of articles/watching some videos, it's even more evident that this dude didn't really do anything politically - just got in power for money/power and did jack for the government during his cricket career. Basically, as a government servant, he did absolutely nothing for the country and the people and still became an enemy because of political affiliation. This is a good lesson for any future cricket who gets involved in politics - espacially during their active cricket duties towards a country. Even after retirement, sportmen should stay away - cause they divide the country/fans towards them like Shakib did - that too without even doing anything.

TLDR: bro didn't do anything (seems innocent - from a political POV), got into politics and his name got wrapped around with things he had no control over, and now he is a public enemy.

Let me know if I missed anything?

Wait, didn't you tell me that day that you live in Toronto? Every expat choose money over country/(and religion). If you don't live in your home country, you abandoned your country for your own selfish desires to make your life better and should not get to judge someone who stays there and earns there and pays tax there. You also did not stay there to help build the country, rather chose to build your own life at an established country. This is not an argument that any expact has the right to make.

BD batting was strongest with peak Shakib in 2019. BD need to get that batting consult back, because after 2019 batting went downhill.

When you see the group of players Bangladesh had in his playing days. I don't think one can consider him overrated with the kind of stats he has but when you see the all-rounders worldwide, I don't think he is right up there with the likes of Kallis, Stokes, Shahid Afridi.

He is not at the level of Kallis, Stokes, and Afridi. His stats are inflated due to Zimbabwe and other weak teams.

Anyway, he is the best cricketer BD have ever produced.

Shahid Afridi among Kallis and stokes is laughable. He is not rated much anywhere except Pakistan.

Afridi didnt have a test career playing mere 25+ odd games. His batting average is paltry 23.5 while bowling average is 34.5 in ODIs.

Compare that to Shakib, batting avg of 37+ and bowling average of 29 in ODIs, he is gold. Shakib is far better a player than Afridi, the glorified hack.

The stats might show Shakib ahead of Shahid Afridi but Afridi still had more impactful and match winning performances for Pakistan.

Unlike the selfish, self centred, egoistic Shakib. Mashrafe is a decent guy, well mannered, has a lot of humility and loves his country. Mash build that house from his earnings from endorsements and 2009 he won a big IPL contract remember? I think it was some jealous haters who just wanted to burn it down for the sake of it.

Thats only because of your bias. Afridi was a over-glorified hack. The number of times he failed far outweighs the number of times he succeeded. This is the exact issue with Pakistan, that they only remember few performances that mediocracy is celebrated at a huge level.

Shakib as a player is far far better than the likes of Afridi.

That person doesn't know the meaning of democracy. He is a closet extremist and a hateful person that would represent the mob culture in sub-continent.

If Bangladesh had an impactful captain that carried the team decently, it was Mashrafe Mortaza. Shakib is a very good players but his antics on field are poor.

Indeed. Mash is the best captain BD ever had. Mash changed the mentality of the players in 2015.

I must say, many players left/retired, I wasn’t fussed. But I actually got emotional when Mash retired. He was the reason why I started liking BD cricket back in the 00s. He just stood out better, and despite so many career ending injuries, man never gave up and kept on battling like a true bangal tiger and went onto captain his country to 2 CWC and many icc events and asia cup. Mash was a true ambassador of Bangladesh cricket, a proper well mannered humble gentleman.

I remember an incident when a cricketer called Shuvashish Roy in BPL disrespected Mash during a match. Mash acted the bigger man, handled it so professionally, cooled the situation on the media and fb so well, cause he knew Roy would get destroyed online, maybe even in person. If that was Shakib he would’ve probably took the stumps out to hit the player.

If he was so decent, why did he join Hasina's party?

Also, he was silent when Hasina's party was killing protesters. Silence is complicity. :inti

Anyway, as a cricketer, Mashrafe was a great leader. No doubt. He was a better leader than Shakib.
