Shoaib Malik Support & Performance Watch

Should Malik be in the plans for the 2019 WC?

Why is everyone having a go at Malik?

He bowled 6 economical overs and batted 5 economical overs.

Therefore, he's one economical in the black, and justified his selection.

9 from 28. LOL which era does he think he is playing in?

What was worse is that he gave it away despite scoring the start

If you look at his record since his comeback, he has only "scored" (and I use the term lightly) when the job has been done by other players. But each time the onus has been on him to make a contribution he has surrendered without a fight.

Despite his average in wins, we have a better win-loss ratio when he isn't playing.

Was there at Edgbaston today. That was horror show from Malik. A poor innings by any standard.

He was building a foundation.

I hear he is better than Hanif Mohammad. Hanif batted for 999 minutes. Malik was trying to beat that record.

When came to bat I was so certain of his quality that I told my cousin he wont score more then 10 runs.

Wow this is the longest thread I have replied to..

There will always be his supporters and i dont doubt them. Maybe you are his fan because you are from his hometown... he played or met you in real life... of you actually like him as a cricketer and for his talent (Highly doubt that one).

The point is that this guy used to be a decent cricketer. Currently he is a shell of a players he used to be. Mentally he is not there.. and its better for him and Pakistani cricket if he takes time to just play some domestic cricket and get back into things. You should not be getting out like he is!!!

I have a huge issue with him being in the team. He needs to go as of now.

It aint even funny how bad he's been. BZ what other creative ways u can think of to make excuses for him? Most of the time he's not out, but given out.

The Shoaib Malik 'Support' Thread

He must be booted out for good after this tournament. He should take Farhat and Kamran with him too. They just aren't international standard.

I wander how many times this statement has been made in this thread alone?

I myself have probably said the same every time these jokers make their way back into the team.

His whole career has been pathetically bad! One of the worst "cricketers" ever to play for pakistan.

Only for Pakistan? I would say one of the worst cricketers to have ever played the game, on a par with Farhat!!

I do not understand this outburst (seems fake to me).

we all know that we have weak batting lineup...(however team is selected on merit)...and pakistan needed little luck (i.e. toss) to compete...

both matches were lost at the time of toss...so really unfair to point fingers...

personally i feel that no one playing the natural game...and thats hurting us...

lets support the team ..to win vs India...

He was a pretty good player before, but ever since his captaincy was taken away after the Lanka series in Pakistan in 2009. He is just not the same anymore.

So you conveniently ignore Malik's overall average in England or even that his last 50 was 4 years ago?

:)) another excuse...sharam tou ati nahin hogi? Your boy played up the order as ya wanted...what did he do?tuk tuk out.

no excuse for today's performance as he was sent at #4
however, he must be persistent at #4 (he played 8th to 18th overs, however he should play his natural game and tuk tuk is not his natural game)

in previous CT, he scored 128 vs india...and was MoM, lets hope if he can replicate that performance...

another thing to note...during last 18 months...we have not won much, if Malik does not perform...

so its better for pakistan team that malik clicks..

Couldn't let this gem pass.

Team hasn't been selected nor has the squad. Either was Malik wouldn't be in the team.

So Malik's performances are based on the toss?

Unfair to point fingers? Where was this compassion with your bashing of other players?

I'll tell you what's not fake, Malik's average in England. Didn't you say numbers don't lie?

Have some shame.

Malik has not been a chief contributor or even second most important player in any of those wins. Wins against Afghanistan and Ireland form part of wins Malik has been part of.

In the past year we have a better win-loss ratio when Malik isn't playing.

All your stats suggest is that when the going is good and all the hard work has been done, he chips in with 20-30, if that. So what the actual conclusion is that his average in wins shows that he is a fair weather player.

His average is losses is more revealing, as it shows that when the time has come for him to step-up, as others did in wins, he has failed.

Also,
Malik played 11 games in 2013 itself. Out of the 11 games, Pakistan lost 6 times. Malik had a mighty contribution with 28 runs in 6 games @10.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround

Exactly, when they time came for him to perform, he averaged 10. Those were the games when he had an opportunity to make a difference. What's the point scoring when the game is pretty much won.

Plus his highest score in a win, is purely down to a miracle performance from a tail-ender, in Wahab, which no one was expecting, let alone predicting. Malik had pretty much lost us that game against Ireland.

Play malik at 3 or 4 or don't play him at all, I back him to score a 100 v India at 3 or 4 if he plays there that is.

:))) with the highest being 43...what are you trying to prove? haha

43 (in 1 inning) -155 (total of 6 innings)= that would leave 112 runs over 5 innings.:)) good try but no!

in simple words, in last ~18 months, Pakistan won only 7 odis (with or without malik)
with Malik, they have only 4, and in all cases, malik contributed. (avg 112)

p.s: forgot to mention 7 odis vs major teams ..http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...al1=span;team=7;template=results;type=batting

He's contributed 8 off 30 balls in this Champions Trophy.

106 runs in 14 innings in England, batting in top 4 eight times, top 6 thirteen times.

Totally agree...he was totally wasted at #6/7...

with so many openers in team.,..Jamshed, Hafeez, Kami and Jamshed #3 would not an ideal position...

Unfortunately, he didn't capitalize the opportunity today...

he played less than 5% of his matches in England...so you can't base an argument on this...

Overall, playing at top 4 order, vs top teams, he avg 40+ with 7 100s and 14 50s...in 70 odd inngs.

He's played less than that percentage of matches in the last 12 months so why bring it up.

When was his last International ODI 50?

If you wanna live offa previous scores...then based on previous stats we should bring back Waqar and Wasim because they got bunch of 5-fers. :))

I can guarantee that if we brought them back right now, they would out-perform him.

lol BZ can twist and turn statements and produce one sided stats, but the truth remains.

I admitted that he should have contributed today as he was playing at #4...
however, he has been wasted at #6/7 for last few years...

Lets see if they give him a long run at #4 ... if they want to push him back at #6/7, better not play him....

same with Kami, he is wasted at #7...

list includes 13 countries and you picked only 5...

I do not see WI or India

he played only games vs SA (at top 4), overall he got ~37 against SA[/QUOTE]

Are we talking top 4 or overall?

22 vs Aus
25 vs Ban
14 vs Eng
26 vs Ire
26 vs Ken
25 vs Nz
29 vs Sri
28 vs Zim

In respective countries:

24 in Aus
22 in Ban
7 in Eng
16 in Ken
3 in Nz
22 in Scot
8 in Zim

top 4, with suitable sample set

if this man has any self-respect left in him, he would vacate his guaranteed place in the side and let someone else have a go

So Malik averages 7 in England, 8 in Zimbabwe and 3 in New Zealand?

Will he be able to lift it above 8 in his next game?

Will he even be selected?

people with self respect don`t get themselves selected through parchis , not perform and keep deserving people out .

if this man has any self-respect left in him, he would vacate his guaranteed place in the side and let someone else have a go
No one in the world would do it especially not malik who doesnt even play tests.

Drop him against India game......no point playing him....get :asad in who atleast is a genuine batsman

Stop replying to BZ, it gives him a high. Make a Malik hate thread, ask one of the mods to ban BZ from posting there and have at it. Let him have his corner to troll, stop feeding the troll

we are way past that point. It is clearly evident that he has no self respect at all.

He must be dropped and never picked again no matter what he does in our domestic scene. We must move on!

Don't think his selection was ever based on his domestic performance.

I think for many he represents the corruption that many are frustrated with not just in cricket but the country as a whole.

A Lot of times its also upto the player themselves. They should walk away themselves

I guess its to do to livelihood

that is true but cricket is a volatile livelihood. If you perform you make some money. if you dont well, you get anotehr job. i think he needs to be dropped and never considered again. He can make a livelihood in t20 leagues and tourneys. Im sure he has enough money to survive.

I agree with you there.

Anyways, matters of selection arent hinged upon whether the person will get another job or not

Just wish PCB had some kind of "final salary pension scheme" to encourage players to retire!

Not in this day and age, when every player's pretty rich in one way or another.

Hafeez, Asad, farhat, Kami, Malik and Amin ... did not perform....

so all these should retire?

Yep.

The ideal antidote for Pakistan cricket is to trash the lot and start all over again.
