Should ICC/SLC investigate Sri Lanka's 317 run ODI loss to India?

SL are glorified minnows these days going through a monumental generational change.

Only batsmen I recognized was Kusal Perera.

Lol he's not even in the team these days 😝.. you meant Kusal Mendis by the way ..

No international games are meaningless.

To say otherwise is a disrespect to us fans as we exect all players to perform to the best of their abilities and to look to win at all times.

Whilst fixing allegations etc maybe a little farfetched given the burden of proof needed, the intent of SL players can be questioned.

If we apply this across board, ICC probably should question PCB given how meekly Pakistan surrendered at home last year. Was that quid pro quo for the teams agreeing to tour ?

Bro - 77 all out for an international side in a white-ball game versus being beaten over 5 days - are two different things.

How about investigating a test match where Pakistan scored 50 runs in both innings?

Poor one off performances happen. It's not a big deal.

its funny seeing Indian posters getting offended so easily, even though OP clearly said he didnt meant any disrespect towards India nor he was questioning their integrity......

Can't look at things with an open mind, always see things with a nationalist lens.

OP has a valid argument, and ASCU probably does investigate such games where scores cards dont match and there is very huge deviation and to involving a team that is a test nation.

In the last 6 or 7 months alone Indias bowled England out for 110 after reducing them to 68/8 at the oVal a full strength England side. India chased down without losing a wicket. So should we say England played purposely? Bowled SA out for 105 after reducing them to 9/5 in a T20. Bowled SA out for 99 in a ODI. Those are better sides. This is a low ranked SL side. Is it because Pakistan Test win was tainted by a srilankan team's shady activities? So we should see that win and runs scored there with an asterix?

Challo - we can all sleep better now.

People don't understand that games which are dead rubber and have no significance left are the easiest to fix. Sri Lanka would have lost the match anyway but it is the margin with which they lost have raised some eyebrows. Maybe after 3-4 years we will know about this, till then we can give OP the benefit of doubt. :inti

You wait until it comes out not start throwing doubts right of the bat based on scoreline. Honkong getting bowled out for 38 runs could also be a fixed match for all we know. Truth may never come out !

If ICC feels anything is amiss, they should definitely investigate the match. I don't think MIG is suggesting anything outrageous. But given they haven't done so for previous huge loss margins, I don't believe there's anything to go by for this one either.

And yet Pak fans keep boasting about their superior head to head ODI record against India.
Not everyone - with the way ODIs are set up right now, it makes it difficult to care about them.

Furthermore, I doubt the ODI WC is going to catch the same level of attention as the two T20 WCs gone by.

and again its soo funny seeing Indians go crazy when this thread is about Sri lanka

This is interesting. Indian posters (for some reason) will come in and defend this saying this happens and is a usual thing.

However, reports are made for the whole series not just a for a particular match. So even Sri Lankan board is suspicious of players

Would have been more fair had OP also posted on the Nz wins which they won from losing conditions. SL had loads of injuries in the match and the worst was the collision . This could have led to the de motivation and collapse from SL team.

This is not a generic discussion.

It is specifically about Sri Lanka and the margin of defeat.

Knowing Sri Lanka (check Al-Jazeera's sting operation documentary), I think ICC should investigate this.

Game felt suspicious. Not going to lie.

Am afraid I have the urge to bump this thread for NZ also if they continue losing wickets!

BPL 2023:

Rangpur Riders vs Sylhet Strikers, 25th Match

SYST 18/7 (8.4) CRR: 2.08
Rangpur Riders opt to bowl

Another game that needs some attention.

No doubt.

Amir's presence increases odds of fixing infinitely.

Imad's 1 from 11 ball needs special attention. He has 143+ strike rate 8n international t20's.

Btw, were there any findings from the investigation SLCC did or was it mere lip-service? Havent heard a peep from them after that

South Africa, England, NZ, SL all have to conduct investigations if the thumb role is getting rolled over by India for a low score. They can literally do this to any team

Won T20 match by 168 runs .ICC/NZC should investigate this match. It was batting pitch and 66 allout is criminal.

What does that mean? Sorry my Hindi/Urdu aint that great!

Saying literally means that, 'one can't dance so they claim that floor is tilted'.

It's similar in meaning to 'The Fox and the Grapes' of Aesop's fables.

Another potential investigation with NZ losing a T20 against India by a million runs?

ICC/ CA should investigate this test match as how can Australian batsman are failing like pack of card where India scored 400 . Australia 177/10 and 67-7 in 2nd innings so far

Lowest Test score for Australia against India in Test history - 92. This must be investigated no matter what

Think when india were bowled out 36 it wasnt done also but lets see if ICC do this.

Aussie team is in a fix on pitch and may have fixed it outside it too!!!

No way the team that beat Pakistan away few days ago is this abject.

When was the last time Oz lost by an innings?

Thanks. Interesting that England has defeated them by an innings 4 times, all 2010 onward. Can you share the same data for India?

England made 578 at chennai.

Look at the scores by opposition after that. Not a single team crossed 300. Both pace and spin bowlers can pose huge threat. It is hard to score against them.

India is a beast of a test team at home.

Australia has come into this series a little undercooked compared to 2017 tour IMO.

Back then, Lehmann, Smith and others had planned for months for the tour.

I think Smith should bat at 3 in this series.

Would have loved to see Younis and Misbah batting against Ashwin and Jadeja around 2014-2015 in tests.

Since 2016, Indian pacers average 23.6 at home. Those are scarcely believable numbers.

India has won, Miggy bhai. I think all these Indian wins need to be investigated seriously by ICC

ICC should check Aussie batters' accounts. How could they keep playing sweep when ball stopped bouncing above knee height? What motivates them to reverse sweep every ball?

Australia just have a very bad record in India and they struggle to get over the line there mentally, even though the quality of their players should make them competitive.

It doesn’t entirely make logical sense but most sides have their Achilles heel conditions and or/their personal bogey team.

It’s a bit like England on tours of the West Indies, where I think we have won one Test series since the 1960s which is a pathetic record to be honest with you.

As for the Sri Lanka record loss one, I would rate that as a higher chance of being dodgy/fixed because Sri Lankan cricket and its governance has plenty of form for this.

Sri Lankan sides have had all sorts of weird performances over the years where they suddenly all start playing suicide shots, including some collapses from relatively comfortable match positions.

Australia's win in Pakistan must be investigated. No chance such a pathetic team in subcontinent winning against a great Pakistan side having no. 1 batter in the world.

Poor PCB always missing the trick, should have prepared the spin track rather than flat roads against Aussies. I am sure Aussies can't beat Asian teams on any half decent spin track.

Aussies cannot play decent pacers, forget about half decent spinners in SC conditions.
It is mind boggling how Pakistan lost to them.

Australian team is used to playing on true wickets with bounce in Australia. So if you offer same kind of pitch they will feast on it.

Thanks to the game changer Pant , Bad record in India has become Bad record against India as they lost both series to India.
