Should ICC/SLC investigate Sri Lanka's 317 run ODI loss to India?

Sri Lanka no longer seem serious about cricket. Their players ditch national team to play franchise cricket (i.e. another West Indies).

They stopped being a serious team after the retirements of likes of Sanga, Mahela, and Dilshan.

They can still win occasional games but old consistency is gone.

$30k per month is a hefty amount. I wonder how much Rahul Dravid is getting paid for his services.

According to the official pay grade, Rahul Dravid gets paid Rs 12 crore annually at the position of the head coach of Team India in all international formats. He was momentarily replaced by veteran player VVS Laxman, who earned Rs 50 lakhs per month at the post.

ICC should stop investigating until India gets back to its good old days when it used to get drubbings at the hands of Jayasuriya, Afridi, etc...

Even Azharuddin, Jadeja, Prabhakar, Mongia in those days actually purchased to win the odd matches for India. It has to be properly reinvistigated now! After all India cannot win any game on its own merit!

And funny thing is this noise is present only in Pakistan! SENA and all other countries have considered India as Top Cricketing nation today! They are not surprised at this...

I hate to say it, and I know that some people will accuse me of trolling here, but the intent of the Sri Lankan team today seemed extremely suspicious. It didn’t seem like they came out to play with an intention to salvage some lost pride after a disastrous World Cup and go home with at least a good win. They were all smiles and giggly as New Zealand made a mockery of them at the world stage.

Extremely disgusting and disgrace. From the Sri Lankan team. They do not belong in this competition. In all honesty they have screwed Pakistan today. They knew very well what was riding on them today.

If honestly Bharat had lost, smiling like this, all giggly giggly, I would never ever watch cricket again. They have absolutely no spine in them.

Shakib Al Hasan was absolutely justified in making this pathetic team grovel. I’m now remembering the smirk on Shakib’s face as Angelo was crying in front of him to allow him to bat and Shakib did not even bother to talk to a player who belongs to a team with such loser mentality. Shakib is my hero today.

Their whole Cricket Board was fired, they were very poor in this World Cup, considering they came in winning the qualifiers. Not to mention they had some injuries before World Cup and Asia Cup.

They simply wanted their misery to end.

Heaviest ODI defeat in history, 50 AO and 55 AO all against india in the same year. Gone are the days of close games between these sides.
The only time SL had some kind of grip over India was from 1996 to 2003...when they got better of India. Before and after that period ,India have always smashed them left right and center.

Peak jayasuria was their nemesis, yes. Though after that they did beat them in a t20 WC final.

2008 Asia Cup?

2008 Test series (SL beat India 2-1)?

2014 World T20 final?

Gap between SL and India wasn't big before 2015.

Sri Lanka’s parliament unanimously asked the country’s cricket board to resign on Thursday after accusing it of unprecedented corruption involving millions of dollars.

It was the latest development in a crisis involving the cricket board — the richest sporting organisation in the bankrupt island country — that came to a head after Sri Lanka’s humiliating World Cup defeat by India last week.

The move is not binding but adds to pressure on the board, which the sports minister sacked on Monday only for the Court of Appeal to restore it the following day.

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa moved a resolution asking Sri Lanka Cricket to step down immediately and the government agreed in a rare show of unity in the fractured legislature.

“This is a historic resolution that sends a message to the world that Sri Lankan legislators have united to defend cricket and restore the integrity of the game,” Premadasa told the cricket-mad country’s parliament.

“We want the corrupt board to go.”

A board source said they would seek legal opinion before reacting to the resolution.

Sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe has accused the board of widespread corruption. He sacked the elected members on Monday and replaced them with an interim committee headed by former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga.

The appeal court restored the original board for two weeks on Tuesday pending a full hearing. Ranasinghe told parliament on Tuesday that fraud at the board ran into millions of dollars.

He said he would rather resign than go back on his decision to sack the board, accusing President Ranil Wickremesinghe of trying to defend corrupt officials.

There has been no reaction to the deepening crisis so far this week from the International Cricket Council (ICC), the world governing body.

The ICC has rules against political interference and has previously suspended Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka have not won the World Cup since 1996, with Ranasinghe blaming the board for the “deterioration” of standards.

Srilanka team is still fuming on Shakib Al Hasan and Bangladesh. Their mind was not totally on this game. Also they lost against a much suoerior NZ team. Every team need not fix matches to put Pakistan out of tournament...they aren't that good enough..LOL.

Their anger is understandable. What Shakib did wasn't done in international cricket for 146 years.

Their big loss against NZ may now eliminate them from 2025 CT race (not eliminated yet but there is a good chance).

2008 was due to mendis. They have not won any thing good .

2014 was due to yuvi making a mess.Senanayake, chucking happily at the back end was another reason. He was almost unplayable at the backend as he was throwing at the wide line almost as fast as fast bowlers.

Those were terror days (especially from 1996 to 2002) as an Indian cricket fan for me.

In most games if not all, we were in for some tough challengers from the SL lineup. It was a fantastic fielding side that often came up with unique field positions, and whenever an Indian batsman hit the ball in the air, I feared them getting caught (more often than not, that's what used to happen).

Will never forget/forgive that selfish/clueless match-destroying inning of Yuvi who was way past his best by that time.

2008 was an aberration. In general, since the 2003 World Cup, we have had better Lankans in most games.

Even then they could not win a single test in India

It wasn’t selfish.
He just could not hit. By his own admission, he even tried to get out but couldn’t even get out. It was just that kind of a day for him unfortunately. He was hitting well for years after that match,

India SL ODI bilateral series record for last 18 years
2005/06 India won 6-1 (7 match series)
2006/07 India 2-1 (4 match series)
2008 India 3-2 (5)
2008/09 India 4-1 (5)
2009/10 India 3-1 (5)
2012 India 4-1 (5)
2014/15 India 5-0 (5)
2017 India 5-0 (5)
2017/18 India 2-1 (3)
2021 India 2-1 (3)
2022/23 India 3-0 (3)

The above is just for bilateral series.
I do remember results of 2 WC games...India won the ODI WC 2011 final but lost to SL in 2007 World cup.
Besides those two world cup, whenever India - SL has met in World cup India has emerged victorious.
That leaves Asia cup games. I had no way of finding those records but ,even if we assume they were equally won, India still has stellar record against SL as fas ODI is concerned.

Tests I knowSL is yet to win a test in India but last 2 or 3 test series I think India won in SL since 2015

International cricket infact cricket as a whole has lost its sheen, strange patterns in games , dubious shots being played to get out cricket has regressed drastically but the $$ effect is all that matters.

ICC/ SLC Should investigated 3rd T20 between india and Sri Lanka .

Sri Lanka were needed 9 runs from 12 balls with six wickets in hand yet they lost the match .
3 recent games involving Ind need serious investigation. Ind vs Pak where Ind defended 119. Ind vs SA Final where SA failed to get 30 from last 30 balls (with 6 wickets left). And today's game.

Really weird pattern with India matches. Their winning percentage goes down to 1.5% before opposition collapses even to the likes of Surya and Rinku. I think we all know what's going on here. :amir

Time to bump this oldie (from an oldie!)
