Should India-Pakistan agree to joint sovereignty over Kashmir?

I think its the best solution. Both countries have had their foothold and presence in the place for the last 72 years, don't think Kashmir can survive independently and both countries are too ego driven to let it go. Maybe best to have joint soveriegnty and why not?

UK and Spain have joint sovereignty over an island. Mark my words, one day both the Israeli's and Palestinians will concede and agree to joint sovereignty over Jerusalem.

Or is this a completely impractical solution?

India knows the people dont want to live under it's rule and is using violence to subdue them. All it is doing is turning a difficult situation into a very risky one. They will of course start crying if people start resisting and killing their troops or attacking government locations throughout India.

Withdraw troops, hold a referendum. Let the people decide, but I'm pretty sure we know what they would choose if the options were either India or Pakistan.

Make LOC a permanent border and after 10-15 years when both parties start to trust each other, have open border. This can't happen though until South Asian stop thinking from religious POV. I am sure in next 50 years, there will be a lot less religious people in this region and slowly then the peace will start coming here on Kashmir issue.
