This is the question we seem to ask after every series it seems but lets ask again!

Should Misbah stay on as Coach after this disaster? Or the problem isnt Misbh?

Reports are that the management might be ousted after the South African series. If the South African series was not so close I would have expected the end of the current management. But with the looming South African
series, the performance in that series will matter too.

Agree, after South Africa comes a tour of Zimbabwe which would be an ideal first engagement for a new coach.

However I'd be surprised if we attract a top foreign coach given the Covid bio-bubbles mean a lot of time away from families.

If they lose to South Africa at home then that will certainly be the death-kneel of this management. But based on public messaging by PCB and Wasim Khan this seems unlikely.

These reports are usually floated around by people with axes to grind etc - pinch of salt recommended.

Should be removed immediately and not given any sort of role going forward in relation to pakistani cricket.

How much worse than this can it get?

Last time round in NZ the result was 2-0, but only because the team was 1 wicket down at Tea on Day Five of the Second Test and made a Kamikaze effort to level the series.

Last year at Adelaide Pakistan lost by an innings after Australia only lost 3 First Innings wickets.

Now they have lost by an innings and 200 runs after NZ only lost 6 First Innings wicket.

King George V famously said of his son and heir Edward VIII “that boy will ruin himself within 12 months”.

Now Misbah has done the same thing in 13 months, and destroyed all the Inzamam/Arthur progress and professionalism.

To give Misbah and Waqar a day longer in any capacity is just reckless and stupid.

Nothing has changed. Nobody in their right mind expected any different from NZ tour.

Guess where Waqar is going once Sacked?

Misbah humiliated Naseem Shah and Zafar Gohar by sending them to face the media after such an embarrassing performance. He should be sacked immediately for doing this.

He should have gone after the England tour. Wasim Khan needs to explain what he sees in Misbah that he believes he will be a successful coach. I don't see anything in Misbah that makes me think he is coaching material.

Same story in football. Ex players recently retired go on to manage only to realise how tough the job actually is.

The competition is strong, SENA teams are always evolving their cricket. Just to reach parity you would need to hire an experienced coach with a track record of ICC tournament wins. Then there is the long process of developing a squad.

Its not the 90s anymore when you can get away with any homebrew methods. As soon as the sport evolved in 2000s PCB lost touch with the ceiling. Its a process and we need to hire a hard taskmaster with a record of success.

To be fair to Misbah, his away tours have been to 3 SENA countries where we have been below par before his tenure. However, some of his home performances in limited overs cricket leave a lot to be desired.

This is ridiculous, the embarrassment we suffered at NZL was not enough ?? would be a shameless decision to give MIsbag another lifeline.

Agreed. TBF we now have what resembles a logical domestic first classs structure and what seems to be a proper cricket calendar. Now all we need is a coaching team that understands the modern game and can help our very inexperienced team become hard to beat. I'm so beaten down thatll i take that..im not even asking for a world beating super power just make us hard to beat again..I'll take that at this point..

Why oh why did they get rid of mickey just when the doemstic situation was looking better?? and they gave us this Duddoo..I mean I was one who was a wait and see, give him a chance fan..but after this tour we should be seeing the warning signs..get rid now while you can..

you know if we had two tests like the first one where it seemed like there was some fight I may have thought "well looks like theres something to work with here etc" but after this abject capitulation I say change now while you still can and bring in a hard nosed professional..not these maajay gaamay homebrewers!!

Yes,

Give him an extension of 5 years as he is still learning, the team is still learning and it is a young team.

PCB is already looking at other options.

The only things that can keep Misbah in the role at the moment are:

Other options saying no
S Africa series not being too far away

I have lost all the interest in Cricket in last year or so (ever since we were served with the combo of Misbah-Waqar).. System is so flawed that even the best coach you hire people will make him fail

1) First the seniors will definitely dislike Foreign coaches because he will make him work, and will not fall for their local heroic status
2) Then our Ex players will start giving interviews and talk shows , there are so many greats WHY to hire someone from outside. And when they fail, they say PCB did not respect them..I followed both Mickey's and Woolmer's tenure very closely and most of the times its disheartening to see how cringeworthy those interviewers were from our former players..
I am not saying Mickey and Woolmer left us with the great teams (but at least there was some positive signs, and we were improving and competing well.. Now, we just lose before the game even starts)

3) Waqar : One time failure is enough for some one to correct himself
Two time failure is enough for one one to correct himself

But here we are seeing endless tenures being given to some one who has shown no sign of any change in his approach (Again , Waqar the bowler was great, but Waqar the coach is the worst thing) We have to reconcile (esp. media and ex players) that NOT ALL great players make even a half decent coach.. It is a different skill set altogether. You need to lead , and get things done from your players, and requires a Big man management and communication skills apart from having a game plan.. And all these skills are equally important.

Except for few rare cases, our former players had amazing cricket playing skills but Never in their careers have shown PATIENCE, COMMUNICATION, MANAGEMENT, QUICK CHANGE OF APPROACH, QUICK DECISION MAKING skills .. so we should not expect them to bring these to the table when they have grown 10-20-30 years oder

4) Misbah : PCB gets what they have sown..At least we now know, what he is capable of.. It was okay decision to appoint him captain after SPOT fixing for an year or two (because that was needed during that time) But I think he has been dragged too far as a player and (now as a coach)
I remember Mickey saying in 2016 England tour, MISBAH is looked like a GOD FATHER of Pakistan cricket by the PCB

So, PCB should do their stuff rather than relying on 1 individual to do work for them...

If thier is no foriegn option then we should give wasim the dual role he wont be worse than misbah

Not really. We had a reasonable record in England and NZ.

It's not just about the humiliations we've had abroad anyway. He's failed in multiple departments not just this one.

If Misbah had any shame, gheirat, he would volunteer to resign given the pressure, outcry in the media and ex players. He knows the PCB are looking at other alternatives which is a clear message that they have lost confidence in him but he is still not resigning and is holding on to his job like a leech.

Considering PCB has made up its mind as per sources, it would actually be a smart move from Misbah to resign himself but not likely I guess.

He won't get paid for the remaining part of his contract if he resigns.

First of all Misbah will never resign, he is the Donald Trump of PCB. He will need to be kicked out. PCB should also kick out the 5 idiots from Cricket Committee who are making these stupid decisions constantly.

Then he will not resign. Most likely PCB will pay him fully to ask him to resign. Both Mani and IK are Misbah's side so money is not an issue.
