The prospect of India qualifying for the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has sparked a debate: Should the President of Pakistan travel to Dubai to present the trophy if their arch-rivals make it to the final?

This situation brings to mind the historic moment when former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto handed over the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy in 1996. Will Asif Ali Zarfari do the same?

While some argue that it would be a diplomatic gesture promoting sportsmanship and unity, others believe it could be politically sensitive given the historical tensions between the two nations.

What are your thoughts? Should sports transcend politics, or are there lines that shouldn’t be crossed? Let’s discuss it!

Its not like Host nation president has to give the trophy to the winner. Not necessary .

Jay Shah will be there if india win the trophy

:kp

After the distasteful manner in which Shehbaz Shareef talked specifically about beating Bharat in the tournament, I don’t think they would want to be there.

Otherwise, it would have been even a nice gesture for sure. Unfortunately the leadership in Pakistan is not sincere enough to build bridges between both nations.

He should wait till the end to see if India is winning. If not, then come and give a speech ke "India ko sabak sikha dia"

Pakistan are the official hosts. The final will be in Dubai as India have made it.

I cant recall a time in history a host nation will host a final in another country. lol

Will the PCB as hosts attend and who will hand over the trophy to the winners?

Also it must ne noted the host nations citizens may not be able to attend due to visa issues.

Has there ever been a bigger humiliation to a host nation of any sporting tournament.NO.

Congrats to India, I hope they go on to the win it now.

PCB chairman must resign.

We deserve this humiliation - especially the so called leader of the PCB deserves this, would love to see their faces handing over the trophy to R. Sharma.

These jokers wont be ashamed, they have pocketed serious money with the renovation and deal to allow India to play in Dubai. Offer them a few more rupees and they will happily bend the knee while handing over the trophy.

which bridge?
India doesn't care one bit, not that I blame them for it.

PCB should have never accepted that hybrid model. I have said this on December itself when they accepted it and some posters here were doing bhangra as if it was big win for PCB.

They should have stuck to their stance of no hybrid and let ICC deal with the outcomes.

at the end of the day, no matter who gives the trophy, feels like India is hosting it lmao ... final being played not even in the host nation.

Everything that could go wrong for PCB went wrong.

Now they lost on hosting the final at home.

You cannot script it, the men in blue have been clinical.

Yes he should go. We don't have any issue with Indian cricket time, it is the GOI that prevents them from touring. present the trophy as normal.

Haven't followed this fracas. I think the PCB have been an embarrassment to their fans over the last decade - big talk and headlines but in practice, no spine.

But honestly, on this occasion, did they have an option really.

Im sure they will and will also be happy to save some money on the free iftari meals offer. Although I doubt Sharifs and Zardari and their puppets fast themselves.

But yes, no issues with Indian cricket team, I hate their government and some of their right wing nutjob fans but their team deserved this.

Yes they had the card of Ind vs Pak game, the main reason why this tournament exists. Champions Trophy couldn't have happened without the participation from either India or Pakistan. So PCB should have remain adamant and let ICC decide what they can do. At max the tournament would have been postponed but that was better than the present humiliation. This felt like an ICC event hosted by India in all honesty.

Cheers guys for great spirit shown

It will be nice to see a full house at Dubai and some Pakistani fans holding the Pakistani flags. We are all brothers let’s never forget. Forget the trolls there is a lot of brotherhood between our communities in Dubai.

World T20 2021.

If Pakistani president travels to Dubai to present the trophy, it would look weak considering India essentially humiliated Pakistan.

I think better to skip it.

I don't think he was gonna travel anyways but if he is going then sure why not... He is the president after all. he can go.

So I suppose the "Closing" ceremony has also been moved to Dubai or there will be a special "Closing" ceremony that the PCB will arrange in an empty stadium in Karachi/Lahore for which PCB officials will flyback after handing the trophy in Dubai on Sunday... ohh wait they can do a Early closing ceremony after tomorrows semi-final .... how will this work ? Soo many options for PCB due to the immense powers of BCCI and Indian team

I guess @sweep_shot can give a better solution to the whole thing.

Well I must confess .... I did my first round of celebrations after our S/W Developer buddies evicted Padosees from the 2024 T20 WC. Priceless memories.

:trollface
That would be taking sadistic pleasure which we are all guilty of. Celebration is when your own team achieves something. Unfortunately, for some set of fans those celebrations happen when some other teams achieve something.
