Pakistan edged past South Africa in a thrilling finish during the first ODI at Faisalabad on November 4, 2025, clinching victory by two wickets with just two balls to spare. Chasing a target of 264, Pakistan reached 264/8 in 49.4 overs, led by a composed 62 off 71 balls from Salman Agha, who was named Player of the Match for his crucial innings under pressure.

South Africa, after posting 263, fought hard with the ball but couldn’t hold their nerve at the death as Pakistan’s lower order steered them home. With the hosts now 1-0 up in the series, both teams turn their attention to the second ODI, scheduled at the same venue in Faisalabad on November 6, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM PST.

It’s pointless to hope Pakistan will actually try and dominate the opposition and attempt to score 400 on this road in Faisalabad!

All SENA teams with full squads will go for it here!

Pakistan team display yesterday was disappointing, I expect Saffers to bounce back strong and they have the best rotational policy

Based on what I saw, faislabad pitch didn’t seem flat to me. There was definite support for spinners and reverse was also on offer.

I don’t think anyone would score 400 here. 300 could be a winning total

Yup apparently pcb instructed pitch curator to prepare spin friendly wicket .It is cowardly move but cannot blame them to maximize chances of winning after losing 9 odis out of 11.

Want to see maybe 2 changes... Play Haseeb in for Hussain... Wasim Jr should play as well.. Maybe for Naseem but it is not gonna happen I think...

Pakistan might go with an unchanged 11

Naseem had a good game picking 3 wickets with RPO 4.3 definitely need to play..

They can bring in Wasim jr for useless Hasan Nawaz..... who looks like a walking wicket..

2 games where he could have easily stayed there to score a run a ball 10 runs without any sort pressure to see the team home but he failed.. Dont know how to score runs without hitting boundaries , should be no to INTL cricket...

The 3rd T20I and ytd in the 1st ODI, he definitely needs to send back to domestics , cant have patience with this fool...

Yeah... Hasan has been a mess TBH... He lacks game awareness... Cannot even score run a ball and chose to get out.
They might bring in Faheem for Hussain

Thay have destroyed the young man's confidence by trying to use him as a slogger in t20 now in one day he's batting similar position need to bat no4 position

Exactly.... Salman pushed him down for his own sake and now Hasan has just vanished.

Well Hussain talat's partnership with Agha were equally contributed by Hussain talat sealed the game for Pak..
When Rizwan got out before scoreboard reaching 200 the match was wide open , usually with 10 overs to go where 66 runs needed with 6 wkts in hand ( inexperienced and fragile lower order with Pak ) + wkt being 90 overs old and being tricky , the game was in SA favour 90% ... His run a ball 22 runs was very crucial to the chase...

from 196-4 to 240-4 plugged the holes for Pak traditional choking up a chase

I agree using him lower down the order but need to show performance to earn his spot there as how Agha earned it. and to play run a ball or say at 85 SR for 10 runs should be an easy task for any batter in this modern day cricket and too against weak bowling attacks... If you cant do that and lose your wicket then no use playing him purely as a batter..

This is the time to try and experiment a bit. The S.A. team is very inexperienced.

I would put Hassan at no4, let him play an innings rather than come in to hit out or get out.

Time to make it 2-0 , experiment can be done in 3rd game. Also the capricious selection policy of PCB means experimentation has no value.

Why are you so scared of losing the series? What’s going to happen?? You weren’t this scared of Pakistan losing when Babar and Rizwan were out of the T20 team 🤡

Pakistan win the toss and opt to bat first against South Africa in the second ODI game of the series

Teams:

South Africa (Playing XI): Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Quinton de Kock(w), Tony de Zorzi, Matthew Breetzke(c), Sinethemba Qeshile, Donovan Ferreira, George Linde, Corbin Bosch, Bjorn Fortuin, Nandre Burger, Nqabayomzi Peter

Pakistan (Playing XI): Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan(w), Salman Agha, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi(c), Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah

Drop youngster hasan nawaz and give his spot to oldies, good game. They were trying to drop saim too. This khalifa group should end, power keeps shifting in b/w them, first rizwan now shaheen.

Rizwan is the back bone of a team that is good enough to win 3 games out of 9 in the 50 over World Cup bro

We have to persist with him!

Hasan dropped wrong... He should have been playing ahead of hussain talat... Simple
That’s not a justified reason. Hussain scored 22 and was still part of a valuable partnership last game.

Hussain flopped it 7!

So how is it fair to drop Hussain and not Babar who scored 7?

So you think dropping Hasan is fair when he is dropped from 4 to 5 then 6 and then 7 and then out of team...LOL

Stop confusing the issue.

I think Rizwan at 4 is your big problem. I’ve said this many times before.

Keep doing these little musical chairs after him. No need to cry about it.
Riz just won you a game along with salman... stop crying

Disappointed with hassan nawaz being dropped they could have continued with this series batting little higher and play a proper innings pakistan need to manage youngsters properly they are just abusing the talent to please seniors

@Rana Pakistan is batting first so hopefully they will score over 400 against second string team of South Africa as you already said.

Lets see

7/1 after 2 over. Need another 393 from 48 over. Too easy

Babar didn't want those fans to sit on those cold steps in the crowd all day long.

That's why he got out early, so they could leave.

Babar Azam, always thinking about his fans. What a guy.
