South Africa [335 & 258] beat India [307 & 151] by 135 runs to win series & take 2-0 series lead

1st Inning
South Africa 335/10
India 307/10

2nd Inning
South Africa 258/10
India 35/3

With the visitors struggling at 35/3 after 23 overs at stumps, the stage seems set for the Proteas to clinch the series on the final day. Can't rule out a miracle for the Indian camp, however unlikely it may be, and we have to see how Pujara anchors the remainder of the Indian innings on Wednesday.

What a spell by Ngidi, leading the destruction of the Indian top-order, getting the prized wicket of Virat Kohli along the way, as India lose three early wickets chasing what now looks like an impossible target. Unless we witness some kind of a miracle from the likes of Pujara and Pandya, it is South Africa's game to lose now.

India look dead and buried at the moment. You can say sending Parthiv Patel out ahead of Rohit Sharma was a tactical left-right move, but let's be honest, this is more about shielding Rohit. On day five, India will need a career-defining knock from either him or Pujara... or maybe even Patel. You can calculate chances of that happening on your own!

India is going to go 2-0 down, just need to see how much they lose it by.

I am expecting some resistence from Indian lower order, I think Match will be over 1 hour after Tea with India all out for 226. I am tipping Ashwin to be the best among Indian batters today. It will be 2-0 and I am expecting a 3-0 whitewash after wanderers cuz morale of Team india will be down after this test and Brigadier Faf du plessis will rally his troops for total annihilation.

This game is over. India have no chance of chasing down the target. Just about Pujara getting a score and Rohit trying to probe himself.

While the cricket experts are busy dissecting India's dismal show in the first two Tests, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag posted a funny tweet about India's current situation. The Nawab of Nazafgarh, posted a small clip from Bollywood movie Lagaan, where popular actor Aamir Khan can be seen looking at the dark clouds anticipating rain. Indirectly, Sehwag meant that it was only rain which could save the Test for the visitors.

Delusional Indian fans back to earth.we are gonna win this easily. Yeaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!LOL at HTBs

Its all messed up for India. They are 99.99% going to lose this match sure. The 0.01 is given to only "rain" factor! India have to go ultra-defensive in their last match just to save whitewash. If they again go for attacking, they will again falter. Attacking attitude is alright, but it has to be done with some senses. The morale is gone now because of stupid selections right from the beginning. It has killed the confidence of everyone in the team. If Rahul & Rahane were selected as first choice, definitely they would have been in better frame of mind. Then if needed (if given chance due to injury or other factors) in subsequent test matches, Rohit & Dhawan would also have played better, because of proving something. Now either pairs are under enormous pressure with confused challenges! Shastri & Kohli did huge mistake by going with wrong instincts instead of taking overall things into consideration. If it was home-series it is understandable to drop Rahane (in fact I was insisting to drop him in India and Srilanka). Rahane's experience in overseas should have comfortably surpassed his weakness against spinners.

Anyhow I hope India goes with the below team in the next match and hope for a draw (Victory should just be a bonus)

Vijay
Parthiv
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Rahul
Ashwin
Jadeja
Bhuvaneshwar
Shami/Ishant
Bumrah

I will take a fit Shami over Inshant because he can at least peak sometimes. Ishant is not applying enough as he used to do earlier. He used to even fall down to ground putting in efforts. Now he is just going through motions. I will drop Pandya (though its harsh, didn't we drop Bhuvi?) because it is not serving this team well (the specialists are not doing their jobs properly because of messed up selections as I explained). I will go with 3 full seamers & 2 spinners. This way the chances of draw is at least increased to 70% if we put a check on the scoring rate. I will have Rahul in the middle order because he is anyhow not confident opening (Vijay also is not solid either). With Parthiv as keeper (Saha injured, don't make the mistake of drafting Dinesh Karthik straight away and become a bigger fool) let Parthiv just attack & get some quick 20-30 runs (after that its a bonus) With Rahane & Rahul in the middle order Kohli will be calmer about building innings. The deep tail will ensure longer innings.

How many more runs do India need to win? Rohit the Sharma will smash a 150 ball double century alone, while Shastri the cheerleader will shape Kohli's eyebrow's & beard in the dressing room. All will be hunky dory again & Tailunt sharma will feature in next 25 tests.

I swear, if Rohit chases it for us...

So This was the definition of positive cricket by Pujara ? was he playing a One day cricket match ?

"Pujara has become the first Indian to be run out twice in a Test. And the 25th time it's happened overall."

Koi eh behen ke ......running sikhao yr.....pujara..maha ..... hi.

To be honest, I just want to watch some attacking cricket... Score some runs and score them fast, spread out the field! Not interested in one sided matches

Pujara's career might be over here. Kohli is always looking for a reason to get rid of this guy as he doesn't fit his mold of "intent" and "aggressiveness" and this might just be it. Sad way to go out with two run outs in a Test. Would have been better if he played his natural game even at the cost of not showing enough "intent". The guy has had multiple surgeries on his knee and is obviously not adept enough for stealing quick runs.

But I guess cricket-Karma has worked on Pujara because yesterday he was out caught behind but no body even bothered to appeal and he got a new life to be honest.

This is sad on so many levels.

Lack of sufficient practice.

Constant chopping and changing leading to insecurity among bats who could deliver.

Dropped catches.

Kohli has been great at keeping up the energy on the field. Has been beyond woeful in every other aspect of captaincy.

Well, we got what we deserved.

Just that it pains cos this was a genuinely good team capable of winning in SA.

Constant harping of "intent" in the press conference which can mess with your brain.

Different players have different skill sets.

If someone doesn't perform, they can be removed. But they should play in a way they feel comfortable.

Wonder why this chopping and changing didn't make them insecure in India/SL.

Wonder why this chopping and changing didn't make them insecure in India/SL.

Because we were playing at home.

Also playing against Lakmals, Pereras, etc.

Also if you notice, we were reduced to 50/5 and 29/7 in swing tracks in Test and ODIs.

Pakistan won 5-0 against Lanka.

What happened to them in NZ?

Weak teams will hide your deficiencies. It takes a leader and visionary to separate truth from hype....fact from fiction.

We need tons of practice. And most of all, we needed to back the players who were capable of playing here.

Its all fine and dandy to say Dhawan and Rohit scored but if you analyze their game, they have weaknesses that can be exploited easily.

Practice and 100s in Aus/SA won't make Usman Khwaja score 100s in turning SC pitches.

Hardik should just swing for the hills.

Pujara and Kohli have embarrassed us big time with those tall claims and present match talks

Except Kohli, all Indian batsmen are mental midgets. It's Kohli or nothing.

Kohli is the biggest reason why batsmen are playing like mental midgets.

Not that they would be Bradmans otherwise but clearly they are playing worse than in 2013/14 leg when they were newbies.

Pujara and Kohli have embarrassed us big time with those tall claims and present match talks

They would have embarrassed us anyway even without the talk. The talks don't matter, our lack of substance with the bat does.

The game is obviously gone. But the worst case scenario here is if Sharma gets a 50 and cements his place not just for the last game but possibly for the England tour as well.. Oh the horror..

Enough is enough no?

Do you know what confirmation bias is?

Anything going wrong is Kohli's fault. If it goes right, it's inspite of Kohli.

If the guys you people like fail, no matter how often or how stupid the batting, it's Kohli's fault. Pujara has now had three inexcusable dismissals all at crucial stages. If you have the slightest honesty, point the finger where it belongs; at Pujara. Kohli didn't make him take stupid runs or throw his bat at wide balls. Rohit has tried his best and copped good balls. Pujara has got set twice and not gone on. Both due to stupid and very avoidable dismissals.

i bet he wont even cross 15 runs

In that case why does Kumar get dropped after a good performance but Rohit does not?

This is my biggest worry too.

Because there are different yardsticks for different people in the team. The Shastri-Kohli regime has made it amply clear in this series.

We've doubled our score from overnight but lost two wickets.

lol what happened to your odds and prediction?

If anyone has confirmation bias, it's you my friend.

I never said Pujara is blameless. I don't mind him getting dropped too.

Lol at you defending Rohit. Clueless.

Also you seem to forget that I was one of the very first guys here to heavily back Kohli the test captain for various reasons.

But then why let truth get in the way of a good narrative.

By the way Saha has been ruled out of the next test too and I hear Dinesh Karthik has been named his replacement. I would rather have him over tailunt Sharma to be honest, or for one of the openers.

In Chennai 1999. India were around 5 wickets down at 70 odd score then Sachin and Mongia changed the tide.

We pick all dummies in the squad and say this is the best we got. :))

Dinesh Karthik is an awful keeper and a talented but inconsistent bat.

We should have picked a real WK bat from domestics. Even a no-name one if that's what it takes.

These management jokers don't realize that if Parthiv had taken the catches in this test, the momentum at various stages would have shifted and the game would have been much closer.

If there is one duo that can win this game from here on, it's THIS! Come on, let's get the target under 120 first and see the choke.
