Root playing a glorious KPesque innings here as a counterattack. Cutting and driving everything to the boundary. Not sure how long it can last.

Not out given , Poms lucky.
Why lucky? It was an inside edge and almost missing the stumps. Would have been given not out, with a review or not. Delivery was not good enough to get a wicket. No luck.
Lucky not to lose wicket at this stage , very important session in the test match.
This quality spin bowling is just proving how utterly crap Liam Dawson is.
Bring in Carter or Ansari already
Carter who?
England will have to wait a few years before they get a test quality spinner. The young leggie is not ready yet.
Bring in Carter or Ansari already
Ansari has already retired believe it or not.
Wth, why?
Pursue a career in Law, I believe.

You want England to pick Matthew Carter who is now struggling to get in Notts (a division 2 county) 2nd xi...?
Yes, because he's only 21 and could do with spending some time with Saqlain. Him and Crane should be developed for the long term
Rubbish from England. A real chance to bury South Africa who were without Rabada. Too many weaknesses in the top order and then there is Dawson. If they fail to beat South Africa in this series I think ranking them about 5th in tests would be about right. I'd have Aussies, South Africa, Pakistan and India ahead of them.

Poor batting performance from England. Credit to South Africa's bowlers , they have put them in a good position to win the game. Can't see Poms chasing 300 plus on this wicket.
Steady on, they're ahead in the series 1-0 and this is a 4-Test series.
ENG almost lost this Test, when they allowed SAF to race to 179/2 at tea on day 1, in only 52 overs at Trentbridge (means, before 2nd ball SAF was close to 300). May be there is a slight chance yet, if Poms can knock SAF by lunch tomorrow, but I actually expect SAF to set a target close to 450. This Test might not go to Day 5.
Bavuma and Duminy would have been gone without quota..
I'd be worried if I were you James. South Africa are likely to win this game and they get Rabada next game which makes them stronger. Trent Bridge is an English strong hold so it will be a mental setback to lose there. England also don't have a recent great record at the Oval.
Still think we rig pitches? This could be quite an embarrassing loss. England looking like they picked the wrong team for these conditions and country miles behind in the match.
