What's new

South Africa (621) defeat Sri Lanka (396 & 180) by an innings and 45 runs to win the 1st Test

They see saffers Rollin', they hatin', patrolling trying to catch them riding dirty. Vamos saffers. Well done.

Lol scoring close to 400 and still losing by an innings. You don't see that everyday.

Last time I saw this was when Pakistan scored 400+ and lost by an innings to Australia.

Anyways, no way SL are going to score that much in the fourth innings, most probably will be bundled out for a low score due to massive scoreboard pressure.

Called it when people were writing ballads about SL's "Fearless" approach.

These are the only series that will be competitive

India in Australia
NZ, Eng, Aus, India in SA
Aus, Eng in NZ
Australia, India, NZ in Eng.
Australia, Eng, NZ in SL, Pak, Bang
Also lower ranked team playing against each other

apart from test cricket has become too one sided and teams are trashing each other.

I reckon South Africa in Australia too.
Sri Lanka in India would be decent

What's the forums opinion about Nortje?

Think he's a bit of a headless chicken at test level. He still needs to learn a lot about hitting the right length consistently and bowl long spells.

He'll possibly be more useful in white ball cricket where sheer pace can get wickets. Sort of like how Brett Lee was average at test cricket, but world class in ODIs.

I will believe it when I see it. I don't recall SL winning any test in India. I may be wrong. Whatever advantage SL has, India strong points have an even bigger advantage in the same thing. I think that's the reason SL couldn't do much even with Sanga/Murali etc.
