O verrated Indian batting.

Tail is again way too long. No power hitters to backup our tuk tuk middle order.

Blame should go to Dhoni and Kohli for letting the run rate go up in the middle of the innings.

Gambhir post marriage, wasn't the same player he used to be.

Pujara post marriage, lost form and was out of the team for large part of last year or so.

Kohli post his relationship with Anushka became more public, having tough time with his consistency

Raina, Rahane all going through similar phenomenon.

Romantic relationship + cricket form = strict no no :akhtar

Kohli hasn't been different either. They should dump their wives. Sanath had 3 wives, hence he played till he was 41, became dancer, minister, now he is low key, might need another one though.

This. Both literally sucked out any oxygen left for chase between 30th and 40th over.

Gotta bring in the likes of Manan vohra, Gurkeerat, even Parthiv butter fingers Patel to boost up our hitting power (ATM, it is pretty pathetic).

Brainless batting really. Not only the pacing of the chase but the shot selection - giving catching practice with the same shot to the same fielder multiple times ! Credit to the SA bowling and field placings too.

A big question mark on India's think tank. The last 3 wickets were due to poor shot selection

The good thing about this series, even despite the losses, is that it looks like 260-280 is actually a competitive total now. Scoring in the last 10 overs isn't that easy anymore.

Sanath was(still is) a smart guy. Only player I can think of getting better as a player post marriage (from India) was Dravid (?)

Raina has been in awful form for a while now ! Hard to justify his selection !

It's strange because In the past India would always be ahead or close to the run rate when chasing big scores so made it difficult to contain them later even if you got wickets.

Dilshan went from avg of 30 to avg of 50 from 2009 till 2015 in ODIs, scored something like 30 centuries between 2009 to 2015 after marrying his second wife. Sanga, Mahela all became very good after marriage. Mendis marriage didn't do well for him. Jokes apart, I believe in astrology.

Gambhir was biggest tragedy, poor guy was ICC player of the year before marriage.

What a damp squib this is now.

At least the Pak match had some entertainment near the end :))

Unfortunately, all our top players are either going through lean patch (likes of Kohli, raina, dhawan, rahane et al) or in the fag end of their career (MSD). Can't understand the logic behind choosing the same set of players who have nothing much to offer in their current form being preferred over experimenting with youngsters with potential. IMHO, these JAMODIs are perfect platform for them to test out their potential.

Year after year, we get to see similar backward minded selection policies from our think-tank (selection committee as well) which has loads of strings attached to it in its decisions.

Poor batting by India, again the bottled under pressure. Very defensive and some pic tuk tuk by Kohli and Dhoni costed this match.

Wow! You are right. From your list of players, it is clear that they did in fact, do better post their marriage (or marriages, in case of sanath/dilshan etc). :>

Poor selection of astrologers = downfall of many players.

The worst part of this choke is that, India didn't even get close

One thing i noticed is that the Indian players in the lower order, after 6 are very weak - Rahane, Patel, Ashwin, Kumar.

Now you compare that with BD- Sabbir, Nasir, Mashrafe. I feel that India is a top heavy team which is why they choke like this.

Which genius decided to make Rahane bat at number 6 in ODIs. If he can't find a place in the top 3, he should not play.

Positive for SA in this match was both ABD and Amla didn't click and they still posted a total of 270 and defended it against home team.

These so call power hitter can only hit Indian phaast bowlers out the park. We have SA bowlers here bowling at 145+ consistently at chest height.

Loving these new ODI rules, finally a good balance between bat and ball!

Actually, Dhoni 2015 version is Rahane (in term of style of inning building), therefore, Dhoni and Rahane now couldnt make single team as both need to come early. Need to add lower middle order batsman in line-up.

A bit strange. India generally don't lose chases this way, especially at home. They either get bowled out or win. Not winning with four wickets in hand is not India's style.

Seriously, SAF fielded like absolute crap and we still found a way to lose this when we had so many wickets in hand. It can't just be the new 5 fielders rule. the batting order being shuffled also doesn't help since Raina is not in form and there's not enough icing in this lineup with the amount of bowlers we are playing. The Rajkot ground is also not among the smaller grounds in India and it showed today. With the 5 bowlers strategy we almost cannot rely on our lower order finishing games so we need to ensure we never have big totals to chase and must attack. Right now we are completely dependent on the openers and Kohli to fire for a big score.

The last time India failed to chase a score between 260 to 275 in India was in the year 2011 !

Eerily similar to Pakistan's farcical batting vs Australia in this year's WC QF.
