What's new

South Africa end Day 1 at 123/2 after bowling Pakistan out for 177

Pak didnt really learn frm their mistakes from first match. No wonder mickey loses his cool with these bunch on clowns

Holding is right to be mad at Sarfraz. Mohammad Amir took body blows and hung around for an hour just so that Sarfraz can score runs for the team and then captain goes and plays an incredibly poor shot.

What a baigharat Yasir is. We gonna have to bowl all of the 2.5 hour session.
Extended last session with only 3 quicks, one of who is coming back from injury

Nothing really to play with this score. I mean with 250 pak cud of got saf out for atleast 200 or max 220. Lead of 30. But 170 doesmt really give you much to play with

Olivier can end up 6 consecutive 5-fors and 3 consecutive 10-fors. Probably would be a record.

Do you think Micky's frustration is genuine? I think its fake because at the end of the day he approves these same hacks again and again.

I am waiting for Mickey to quit and write a book about his experience with Pakistan. I personally feel that he does not have much influence in terms of squad selection. He wants to create a winning culture but does not have the players at his disposal.

A bowler whose 90% of deliveries that are never going to hit stump has taken 15 wickets already in 3 innings, tells you the sad story of Pakistani batting. 👹👹👹

That should not be an excuse to keep him in the job.

You must be kidding, you need someone to lead and this guy is best you got.Until someone else emerges as an alternative Sarfraz is your captain.

Hum ne Steyn, Philander Aur Rabada ko chor Ke Olivier ko 3 innings mein 15 wickets Di hein. Khuda ka khauf karo yaar

Olivier might become the 1st bowler in history to take 6 5 wicket hauls in a 3 match series.

We don't play on pacy and bouncy pitches at home.

Listen to some domestic players and they will tell you only pitch with real pace and bounce is Diamond Islamabad.

Our cricket is finished. If we wait for a world class cricketer with good communication skills and star quality to emerge in order to dispose Sarfraz, we will be waiting forever.

He is going to relish playing against Pakistan so much that when he will go wicketless at times against others that he will actually miss playing Pakistan. :))

Abbas has a better defensive technique than atleast 4 batsmen in the side.

Innings defeat is on the cards. South Africa need to bat for 6 sessions which is a very realistic proposition on this pitch against our trundlers.

You need a talented player who is assured of his place in the team. Babar is one such guy but it is too early for him.I don;t see anyone else. There is no need for communication skills or fluent English. He needs to have good cricketing brain and should command his place in the team as a player.

I can see only Sarfraz as that option.

Sarfaraz played well, so credit to him, but 1st innings limit looks like 170 ish.

Also, this time Arthur should get all the criticism for sending FZ as opener. He has made his entire career in SAF cricket and still not ready to change anything. May be he isn’t happy with the squad given so trying to make a point - that’s the only explanation, otherwise FZ as opener & Azhar at 4 doesn’t make any sense.

Fully expecting a 100 run opening stand from SA and a score of 450+. Can't believe we folded for 165 on a flat pitch.

What do you make of Faf's decision to bowl first?

Good innings from Sarfraz. Unfortunate the way it ended and the commies blasted him for that shot, but he got himself at least one boundary previously with the same time of shot which they praised.

Old ball does nothing here. If you survive the new ball for 20 to 25 overs runs are there for the taking.

Wickets is quick with tennis ball bounce, something pak have always with. Expectinf SA to cope far better and take a substantial lead

Sarfraz looked so relaxed after getting to a personal milestone. I dont blame because he had managed to do what most pak players strive for i.e. secure a place in side by scoring 30's 40's 50's

He probably expected them to fold. They did fold. If they bat big in one innings this call would be a call. If they collapse too like they have been doing recently then it will be risky to chase anything over 200 in the last innings.

Quickly needs to take the last wicket. Last pair is adding runs here.

Stupidity from Shaheen. Twice he has got out in similar fashion.

I would be very interested at reading the chapter on how he bullied the Pak team into playing with just one spinner against SL. In UAE. Not once, but twice. And losing a 'home' test series primarily due to that selection blunder.

1 score of 40 per series is the bench mark for our batsmen now to retain their places, never mind all the other failures.

Faf humiliated us by opting to bowl. He would have never dared to do that against a quality lineup. His aim was to bat once and he is on course.

They are playing with 4 pacers and have seen PAK’s top order, also it’s clear that don’t consider Yasir threat much, so I think bowling first was obvious choice. This is actually a better wicket do 177 is a big advantage for SAF now.

Even if Sa end up winning this, i don't think it was the right decision. This pitch was not a bowling pitch at all. No swing in the air or seam off the pitch. Te others were bowling quick and hitting the deck hard to get something out of it.

Mickey wants (or wanted) to create a team that can compete anywhere, and that is why he was interesting in blooding all-rounders instead of relying on 2-3 specialist spinners to win matches in the UAE.

However, our all-rounders like Faheem, Shadab etc. are trash and the so-called senior batsmen have not stepped up after Younis and Misbah. Mickey's biggest problem so far has been his obsession with all-rounders. He has been here for y years now and about time he realises that we do not have players like Stokes, Pandya and Curran.

I blew my top in the Asia Cup when glorified tail-enders like Shadab and Faheem were walking to the crease in the Asia Cup with more than half of the innings still to go.

He is a very good coach but it is becoming increasingly obvious that he a misfit in our rotten culture. I wonder who the next coach will be. It will most definitely be a local.

Younis would not be a bad option to replace Mickey after the World Cup, provided that he can settle his differences with the PCB. He is egoistic and proud, and will not take crap from the selectors, plus he works very well with young players. The other upside is that it will keep the Karachi lobby quiet as well.

The downside is that is not going to make any difference in terms of results because we simply don't have the quality.

This doesn't look like a TEAM.
What I see is a set of disconnected players, but not a team.

Have to say it again, PCT needs a Bowling Captain.
