He is following the Misbah way. Get to 50 and bust...Not sure why he cant convert to 100s.. just needs patience,stamina and game awareness

Saud should bat at no. 4, with proper batsmen and when the ball is 30/40 overs old to settle in easily and hold up an end
 
Saud is as usually poor to bat with tail enders. Thats why is conversion rate is poor and he is mr 50 so far. Agha is good at it.

Yeah it’s unfortunate for him that the two guys he fights for can’t fight for him. They only fight for each other.

Damage was done then. A competent attack would've bowled SA for a similar total to ours. Chief culprit was Abbas who bowled slower than my late nani.

I'd love to hear the explanation why he was favoured over Mir Hamza who performed in Australia.

This is why I'll never support local coaches. Cannot resist their subjective likes and dislikes. Aqib Slot no better than Saqlain Klopp, Misbah Mourinho and Waqar Guardiola. No wonder these guys rarely get employed outside Pakistan.

He is just average batsman. The most overrated batsman i have seen
 
Shan, Rizwan, Babar are responsible for this collapse. These guys are most experienced amongst all and must perform better in such situation

In the long run when Pakistan lose this test match it isn't a bad result as in the grand scheme of things and taking the WTC into consideration.

It would mean SA would qualify for the final, so at least that would be a good result for world cricket😃

South African b grade commentators also deserve criticism. They were thinking Babar and Rizwan are the key wickets without knowing Saud is the best batsman in this side.
 
That 90 run lead proved too costly, thanks to Shan's terrible captaincy. Only in Pakistan player like him will play for so long and even captains

yeah only saqlain and mahmood have gotten overseas stints, i think
 
Saud's approach has been fantastic. Both him and Kamran are sitting ducks in these conditions if they play the conventional game but they have really tried to make a difference. Brave.

Nearly 150 runs between the 2 of them in this game. More than anyone could have expected really.
 
Babar will end up somewhere in the ranks of Amir Sohail among Pakistan cricketers - difference is that Amir played for a PAK team that was comfortably among top 2-3 teams for the decade hence he lasted less than 10 years….. Babar might stay for 20+ years for this PAK generation - so by volume, he’ll break some records.

As I wrote yesterday, he had his best chance to contribute something worthy - a substandard, tiered (& over worked) SAF attack, well set on 50, 36 overs old Kookaburra, already over 60 ahead with 7 wickets at hand and partner playing even better ….. what else did he need to hit a hundred & set 250+ for bowlers to defend? From other end, Soud is still playing means had he stayed there, by now SAF could have been sweating and wasting time to close the day to start with fresh bowlers next morning.

I think Saud also has the highest % of Team Runs Scored in the current XI at 16%
Babar seccond highest at 14%

I saw some blind fans wants Rizwan to take over as test captain as well which is insane. There are more capable captaincy candidates like Saud & Agha who are far most consistent and reliable when the team is in need but this blind obsession with 1-2 players is cringe
 
How did this guy take 5 wickets in thef rist innings? He bowls slower than Nitish Reddy. Doesn't even look tall
 
All things considered, Pakistani batsmen have done their job in this match.
They got some tough conditions on the first morning and today as well.

The bowlers need to come to the party.

How is he going to displace Rizwan who is a combination of Lara/Dravid/Inzimam at 4?

I think Saud’s free flow against pace on flat decks within the powerplay can be very useful to Pakistan

15 years later some 20 year old in cricket forum will go "Jansen on that day ran through pakistan. He was menacing" lol only people here know how he got the wickets
 
Jansen has been one lucky guy. Most of his wickets are gifts from the Pakistani batsmen.

And he isnt even 100% fit! Test cricket is easy eh?

Saud as an odi opener is an inspired call. Can bowl as well.
Needs to be given clear orders to slog in the first 10. Has a strong base and can clear the infield easily.
Best place to bat for someone who does not have a great power game.
