What's new

South Africa finish Day 1 of first Test at 127/5 in response to Pakistan's total of 181

okay he is 6'6 and 18 years old. he could grow 2 more inches.

You still believe he is 18 years old & grow 2 inches !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tell another story - this is from Gavaskar. He saw an 18 years old kid in 1971, then saw him again 3 years later - by that time that 18 years old 5'10-11" kid at 22 reached 6'-1" ish ......... so, that kid 14 years later at 35 became world No. 1 Test fast bowler after 2 years wilderness for a career threatening bone injury. That's exceptional - business usual, PAK pacers stop growing after 15-16 years of age and start huffing at 29 .... by 35 they are tundlers even in domestics.

Shaheen is 20 years old, talking from my own experience, after all i deal with things related to age etc.He cant grow further.

On a bouncy pitch, and movement in South Africa . . You'd have to be Sarfaraz to give the new ball to Hasan!

Even if Shaheen is inexperienced, and it would be a gamble . . you'd give it to Shaheen 10/10 times!

I feel our slips are standing far too back. SA slip fielders stood there because all of their pacers were bowling at 142-144 kph. Our pacemen are comfortably 5 kph slower in average speeds.

Keeper sets the distance, not slip fielders. Normally, 2nd slip & WK stands parallel, 1st slip 2 steps behind and 3rd slip 1 step in front to make it like an umbrella.

:Shush!

Hassan gets one!

He has shown some venom but has bowled too many looseners in between

That has to be dead. Markram has historically been a candidate of LBW and Hasan pins him infront.

This is when Hasan becomes absolutely unplayable when he pitches the ball on a length around 4th off stump and brings the back ball in. It's almost impossible for the batsmen to negotiate that type of delivery because of how skiddy Hasan is. He's got Ross Taylor and De Grandhomme like that multiple times. That should be his line.

Goes to show you just need to pitch it at the right length and let the pitch do the job for you. Hitting the right length is imperative.

this is a type of pitch where good bowlers will go for runs but will make regular strikes too

Get Shaheen IN.HAssan getting overexcited.

I think, Amir will go for a longer spell, while Hasan for a shorter one and Shaheen replaces him, that can allow to operate with 3 pacers for like 18-19 overs. But Hasan has got a wicket, so role might be reversed.

Regular wickets is the key, bowling defensive lines will get you no where

I stand by what I said! The fact that Hasan got a wicket doesn't change that . . he can get 2 more wickets here . . Most captains in the world would have given it to Shaheen in these conditions, on this pitch!

Amir bhai, for once pick up an early wicket. We are not looking for eye-candies or cute play and misses out there.

Credit should be given to Pakistan they are very much in the match. They scored vital runs in the end and have now taken 1 wicket as well.

guys, I’m not the most up to date with the South African batting, where are the weaknesses if any? The middle order ?
