What's new

South Africa finish Day 1 of first Test at 127/5 in response to Pakistan's total of 181

Now shouldnt repeat the mistake of getting opposition away

If PAK can keep things tight, either side of stumps, SAF might struggle to take a lead here. Their tail isn't that great any more.

De Kock is the danger guy though. If the bowlers are slightly off the mark, he is more than capable of hurting with his flourishing approach. But first we have to go past Du Plesis.

Babar's knock reminded me of Azhar Mahmood's innings 20 years ago. Shame he couldn't get a century.

Shaheen biting back at the criticism he was getting earlier on in this thread.

Shaheen is 1 special talent!!!!!!!

I tell you - if Abbas was fit, Shaheen would have been carrying drinks here. In fact, I doubt if he would have come to SAF at all if it was left to selectors only.

How SA are going to miss a AB counter attacking innings now.

Series there for the taking for Ind/Pak now!!

That's what we had been expecting from Shaheen; ball flying off a length and catching shoulder of the bat and gloves. Keep banging it hard on this length, Shaheen!

Shaheen was always gonna be a handful once he found the right length.

Let's not let them off the hook now.

Amir/shaheen need to go for jugular here. SA tail is as long as ours.

Games on knife edge.

For once, for the mercy of the lord, just speak something good about us. I know it hurts you, but please try.

Get in thereeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Yasir hasnt even bowled yet. His sliders will kill them.

27 overs left in day still, could we bowl SA out by close of play?

Amir and Shaheen bowlling in tandem, this is the first time ever right?

It's comical to see how the commentators are now speaking like our spokespersons... that's what Pakistan can do to you :amir2

SA tail doesn't look strong. Need a couple of wickets and we should run through the tail.

That's why Markram was a huge wicket. He is their best batsman these days and dictates the game from the top of the order. With du Plesis hiding behind inexperienced batsman and Amla out of form, he was always going to be the big scalp. Thankfully Hasan produced right delivery just at the right time.

can someone please give me some insight on the South African batting line up, are there any major threats to come? Maybe De cock?

Indians used a good tactics against him - bowled round the wicket (right arm pacers) and cramped his horizontal bat shots, doesn't have the temperament to stick for long.

This guy Bavuma batting is a street fighter, he wont go down easy. DeQock if he chooses can turn the game on its head.

Saffers have been hounded by tigers here... hard to escape... hope they have carried enough tissues to wipe the tears :yk

This match is on sky sports, the lbw was a bit unlucky which was high. In general the bowlers have bowled well especially Olivier.

No-one would give him attention if he did that.

He has no shame. Had similar psuedo logic when Bilal was selected. Said Bilal was never going to play and the only reason he had been selected was to justify the later selection of Hafeez. Bilal played, took six wickets and guess who disappeared?
