What's new

South Africa need 243 runs to win the 2nd Test against Pakistan after ending Day 4 on 127/1

A good test core developing here now for Pakistan

Babar
Rizwan
Faheem
Hassan
Shaheen

Solid defense gets behind the ball, doesent play around it. This guy should have debuted way earlier. chacha is a handy batman and good spinner.

A late boomer even in FC cricket but, definitely could have been debuted 2-3 years earlier as he started showing decent skills with both bat and bowl by then. I think he could have very much debuted in 2018 when Bilal Asif was selected to pair with Yasir in UAE.

A fantastic century from Rizwan, hopefully many more to come in the future.

Again scoring runs when the team was in trouble.

Well deserved 100 for Rizwan here. Has been playing some top knocks in overseas conditions and got near the milestone but, couldn’t get it.

Outstanding comeback by Pakistan. This series has been a series of wonderful comebacks by Pakistan be it in bowling or batting. Everyone contributing is always a sign of becoming better team.

Based upon 351, SA will have to chase 8th highest 4th innings total ever in subcontinent if I am not wrong and it would be highest 4th innings chase ever in Pakistan.

If SA chases this and get them in history books than they deserve to draw the series.

Faheem could learn a thing or two from Rizwan on how to bat with the tail. He could have had a century in the first innings.

Job done lead of 350 +

Brilliant 100 by rizwan

That is most likely the end the Janaza of sarfraz ahmed intl career .

Credit to nauman ali , performances are justifying being selected for odis and t20s , pakistan need a good offspinner who offers control and keeping it tight an added batting ability is a big bonus.

To be fair, I think Junaids is right when he says your 8-11 cannot be four sitting ducks.

You do need your tail to hang around a bit, especially in situations like this, without compromising on their primary skill too much.

84 run partnership.

Pakistan do love big partnerships at bottom of inns vs SA in tests

Remember Azhar mahmood and tail doing same thing 20+ years ago.

I do not think Pakistan should declare at all - even if they can bat till lunch tomorrow. Winning the series is way more important than winning this game.

Normally I'd advise going for the jugular but Pakistan really needs to win a precious series here - especially against SA.

More than 350 has been chased three times in the history of subcontinent in the 4th innings, once in Dhaka (2008), Chennai (2008) and one in Pallekele (377 scored by Pak in 2015 to come in record books).

Really good knock from Nauman. Really liked his temperament as a player throughout the series

I really should be going to bed but man this is great to see from the team!

And as soon as I say that Nauman gone man really wanted him to get that 50!

literally less than 1% chance that Saffers chase this down.

Neumann values his batting despite being a tail ended our top order should learn something

Congrats Pakistan. A well deserved home test series win awaits. Pity, I missed most of the match.

Chacha going for one too many. Well played though, should declare now

Exactly this is a very flat surface, if a batsmen sets himself the pitch is conclusive in being able to play your shots and get a big score

Rabada has bowled 13 out of almost 100 overs in Pak innings and has gotten his second wicket.

Shame nauman missed out. Rizwan needs to slog a few here.

Doesn't seem to be much happening to the pitch

Pakistan will have to bowl really well and their fielding will be under pressure.

Rizwan has worked upon his power game, would be interesting to see bit of that here.

Nortje, Mahraj a have been decent in the series getting important breakthroughs for SA. Rabada poor in this series.

He is a short guy and have maintained a really good fitness. I bet he could play 5-7 years more.

Highly unlikely he's going to scoring any big runs outside of Pakistan. Need a strong middle order batsman to replace him and form a formidable partnership with Babar and Rizwan in the long run.
