South Africa need 243 runs to win the 2nd Test against Pakistan after ending Day 4 on 127/1

This sorts of performances have often saved teams like India and England, when the late order chips in with massive runs. When your top order fails you need bowlers who can hold the bat.

One of the key differences in the bowling performances in the second and third innings is that Pakistan got reverse swing with the old ball and South Africa have not managed to do so.
 
I don't want to jinx it but having a lead of 266 runs means the game is almost in the bag.

Only Pakistan can give 4 wickets to Linde
 
Rizwan needs to attack more to cross 300 after Yasir wicket

You never know in cricket but this is a hige lead already, and if we can get beyond 300 that would dent Proteas’ moral severely.
 
The game may finish today itself , SA would not last much long here in second innings.

SA batting is naive against spin , and also Pakistan spinners are seasoned , it would not take them much time to produce wicket taking balls.
 
how did this Linde bowl? Just switched on a little while ago and his action looks so pedestrian... Is he actually got potential or is he gonna be part of a long list of ******* we have made look good?
 
Even though our test team is probably one of the worst in the world but I think at home we can start winning more tests because players that would otherwise be total failures abroad can still perform decently at home giving us a chance to win as seen in this series.

If 34 year old baba jee can make his test debut for us. I'm sure a player like Linde would have been our leading spinner

tbh this SA side aint much themselves.

test cricket is kinda at an all time low

gap between top 3-4 sides and the bottom ones is too big.
 
I think passed possibly missed the trick by not utilizing the heavy roller early in the morning. That would have ensured a quick end to SA's innings

This is true. What I fear is that when we win against such weak sides with a team full of passengers, the team goes into a false sense of security.
 
SA would hope Pakistan throw away their wickets here , Rizwan looking really solid here

Once Pak has established a world class pacer and found two half decent openers, they would be capable beating any team at home. Pak have plenty of good spinners to pick from in domestics.
 
Pakistan right now in their home better than all teams except India , only India has the bowling to challenge Pakistan at home.
 
Still feel for Gohar who got his career ended in NZ because some idiot decided to play him on the worlds most anti-spinner pitch
 
Pak needs two good openers and Azhar Ali to retire at the end of year and replaced by likes of Saud, Usman.

To play him in NZ was not idiotic , but to drop him just after that was idiotic and with an evil motive. It's not new in Pakistan cricket. It destroyed quite a few career
 
Man I remember when our tail was the worst in cricket.

Used to go from 200-6 to 205 AO real quick.

Zulfi Chacha, Saeed Ajmal, Imran Khan, Junaid Khan man that 2014 tail was bad, good thing we had the best middle order in our test history.

Now it's the opposite. We are lucky if our top order scored 30-50 runs but the tail is reliable

If Pakistan play India , Australia or Kiwis on there pitches , it will again follow the same script :)

Only if these tailenders throw away their wickets likes of Fahim, Yasir and Nauman can score effectively at the lower end.
