What's new

South Africa v England | 1st ODI | Bloemfontein | Feb 3, 2016 | England won by 39 runs (D/L method)

Ejactly.

How does he do it?

Its bloody hard to rate him as a spinner.

But then its hard to dismiss him as a nobody too.
His bowling looks so average but he picks up a lot of wickets. Maybe it's a case of him being harder to face than he looks on the TV.

Stupid rain man... so anticlimatic.

This is like the hero getting run over by a truck on his way to fight the villain.

James Taylor's non-selection seems to be causing controversy.

Rightly or wrongly, IMO he is being punished for his filthy dismissal / horror shot in the 4th Test which exposed Bairstow and the tail, causing England to capitulate at a crucial juncture in the match. Guys like Fabrace and Bayliss will have viewed that as 'not being a team player'.

Think it's more a case of there being no clear way of getting him in the team unless you disurb the opening partnership which theyve clearly been reluctant to do for quite a while now.

You can be lucky once, maybe even twice, but you can't be lucky over and over again: for good things to happen consistently, you have to be good at what you do. At this stage, Moeen Ali is clearly a good cricketer.

It's the beard and the Islam, Allah is not only blessing the Ali but the England team to thanks to Mo. Soon enough every member of the England team will convert to the Islam and wear a majestic beard. The eleven majestic beards will rule world cricket for decades to come.

This.

Only I have seen the hard work the beard has put into improving his bowling, the beard also practices in the birmingham premier league games in-between FC games to improve his bowling, the beard is very keen and is always searching for advice and ways to improve. The beard destroyed India and made them look like a bunch of amateurs, Indians are yet to recover from the burial.

Robert it's not just some names being dropped after the World Cup but it's the change in mindset and attitude to ODI cricket, Swaan put it best; team management would be hell bent on these gameplans "hey guys by the 40th over we need to be around 200-220" "keep wickets in hand until "x" over"

That's the day Roman Reigns will begin his 6 year WWE championship run by beating The Rock, The Undertaker, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins in a 5-on-1 handicap hell in a cell match.

:)))

The Wyatt Family will try there luck at cricket to avoid the burial, they could join the majestic beards of England they already got one half of the role nailed; the gods will look upon them favourably :yk

I only know of The Rock and The Undertaker in that list. Still don't know if that's a good or bad thing.

Yep, Strauss and Farbrace, then Bayliss have fostered a new spirit. Now the top seven all want to score at over a run a ball. Moving Buttler up to #4 is a wonderful step, but I think Stokes is capable of similar carnage.

The amazing thing is that KP probably couldn't get a game now.

Not so sure about the influence of Strauss in this beautiful ODI revolution in England. Definitely, but Stokes is fine in the position he's at. Stokes being in the side has allowed Butler to move up, Moeen Ali shouldn't be in the lower order; in limited overs he can be utilized best as an opener.

KP walks into the side ahead of Roy, Hales or The beard.

What happened to this?

Rain. Rain happened to this.

Biggest ******** in the last 2 years. Could've been an epic game. Robbed QdK of MoM award.. would feel hard done if I were him. Such a glorious effort but halted because of uncontrollable circumstances. May have considered retirement out of sadness.

Strauss? I highly doubt it. Bayliss and Farbrace have done wonders and deserve most of the credit here I think. Did well for SL as well so no surprises there. BMac and NZ prolly deserve some credit as well for kicking everything into gear. Eng have been a completely different unit since the NZ series.

Eng playing some awesome cricket atm. Well played to em.

ODI revolution began long before Strauss's appointment, he doesn't deserve any credit. If he deserves a knighthood they should give you one to :yk

Eh? It didn't. Don't let Strauss h8red over KP blind you ;-)

Look at the last WC result. And the one before that. And every one since 1992. England have been mediocre to poor at ODIs for a very long time.

Strauss knew something had to change and made the key appointments. He's prepared to let England players play in the IPL too, at the expense of test matches.

just goes to show that if you get the right coaches in place, right captain and have a positive mind set you can change the way you play ODI cricket just like England have, pakistan should take notice of this and stop living in 1980s mindset!
