The South African side looks atrocious to me. One of the longest tails I've ever seen - and the bowling doesn't look that much stronger for it. Imagine if they'd had a top order collapse!

amla riding his luck? dude, he has been playing straight and text book shots. no slogging. dont know what do you mean by lucky. he was dropped in first slip but that was a very very difficult catch.

he wasnt slogging , but he isnt that good a player either ...not talking about the drop , but this kind of aggressive game wont suit him for too long ..hes a limited player in terms of talent to contunie doing this .

he has anyway done his job. 50 of 35 balls is not bad.

one thing i have noticed is that amla has started to sky many shots, its like he is doing an afridi some tyms...............

Why are South Africa approaching this game like its a T-20??

Might be their undoing. I were the South African captain, I would be angry with Amla for that reckless shot which got him out.

Apart from that, well played Amla :)

Still Duminy and Miller to come. Both can score quickly. Parnell can also bat a bit, but we haven't seen much of him, and Botha can knock a few boundaries.

they might , but its a pretty long tail by SA standards ?

To be fair fella, this isn't what you want to be saying about the batting to come when you're only 3 down! 3 down in ODIs shouldn't look this bad. If de Villiers falls the Saffers are pretty much knackered as far as a match-sealing score goes, which should be the aim of choosing to bat first - the best they can do is a set a par score.

Not at all. The worst part is these are the only specialist batsmen (+ Faf du Plessis) in the 14 man squad for this series. The rest are bowlers, some of whom can bat a bit.

Kallis would have effectively given us two extra players. We're a bit screwed when he retires.

we will fynd it very hard to fill kallis place true :)

Smith is only 29, but looking at how regularly he used to score big runs, he possibly peaked early. Meanwhile, Kallis only has a few years left.

Amla and de Villiers are going to have a lot resting on their shoulders in the future.

try hard bajji. when batsman coming down the wicket and padded. this sardarji appeals as if batsman was plum infront.

Duminy looks like he has improved against spin, he was struggling against Swann

in AB and Duminy, RSA have 2 very good middle order players for the world cup

if these two stay there for another 10 overs, i see the score around 250 + at the end. which is like 325+ in indian wicket.

That if is the problem.. There is no guarantee that these two will be able to stay at the crease till the 30th over.. But that will not be enough I think.. :(
