You have to say however good Tendulkar might be he's poor at batting with the tailenders. Giving strike to Unadkat off the first ball of the over that also against Steyn. Pretty poor stuff. He played out a maiden before sree's dismissal as well knowing fully well sree will have to face a full over.

to be fair he got 110* when the team needed him most, and tried to build partnerships

team player

Very dissappointing to see SRT not interested to score any more runs, I think he just wants this test match to be over ASAP...

Not poor its called selfish

why isnt he taking the strike instead of exposing tailender?? lost already?

One thing this match illustrates is no matter how much India talk up the rest of their team, they ride on the wings of Tendulkar. You take Tendulkar out of this team and they would struggle big time with belief.

Anyway, come on sun, let the Saffers deliver the pwnage!

I agree that SRT is head and shoulders above any other Indian batsman, but I would also note that SA can struggle to bowl out sides without Steyn firing. Teams often rely a lot on one or a few players, no matter how good the team as a whole is reputed to be.

Why is he taking singles on the first ball of over when no.11 is on the other side?? Very strange! Maybe Sachin wants to carry his bat as that will boast his avg. What else could be the reason?

Sachin doesn't wanna ruin his average by getting out...he wants unadkat to get out, watta selfish player.

What a fighter this Sachin is, remains not out while his team lost by an Innings.

:))) India lose :))) Number one team :)))
:sachin's fault couldn't keep the strike just wasn't good enough :))) :)))

How can Indians defend that. ****ing pathetic by Tendulker.

We have seen 100+ patnerships loads of time. Theres schduled rain later on. Unforgivable. The story of his life.

Sorry M_Q.. Your Team Lost because of your Bowling is to weak to deal with SA batsman on SA pitches.,,, You guys need Zak back asap..

innings defeat will really hury India on the points table!! poor display by tendulker.....innings defeat se to na harte kam se kam !! lol

Tendulkar makes india loose by inning. Looks like he was playing to increase his average.
India looses by innings and all ravi shastri says that sachin remains unbeatin.

Mission accomplished by Teenda .. can't believe all the support he gets.

Sachin's hundred No.50 also scored in a losing cause. Thats more or so story of his centuries.

Sad to see Sachin's approach today. Should have been more positive since there wasn't much to loose. SA deserving winners, they must enjoy all they want till boxing day test match - after that this series is India's :D

I was only pointing out one aspect of his batsmanship that he's not good at.
Batting with tail enders.

Top order batsmen often struggle to bat with tail-enders

The situation speaks more about two aspects of the Indian team. Partly about the failures of the other Indian batters, and also about the talent and staying power of SRT

Bit of a shame for the old head to show no interest in protecting the young lad at no.11, but you have to give credit where it is due, SRT compiled a gutsy and skilled hundred and is the only reason the team leaves the game with any ounce of pride.

Strange tactics from Sachin not shielding the tail....

But full credit to SA. They were clearly the better team in this game - esp the bowlers. Well played Proteas!

Back to the drawing board for India who need to up their performance - esp Sree and Ishant. If Zak comes in that would be a huge boost but the other bowlers need to rally arround him if we aim to draw the series atleast.

Keep dreaming mate:yk

:sachin is not a Top Order Batsman in Test Cricket..

SA have won, SRT couldve atleast given the fans a bit of afridi like hitting.......

He's worried about his average falling too far behind Kallis. Which would be humiliating considering he plays half his matches on Indian flat beds.

Can any one tell how many of tendu's 50 centuries have come in loosing cause. I guess more than half

Right off to Durban where the leading wicket taker is Pakistani Imran Tahir this season. I hope they give him a run assuming his visa issues are sorted out.

It is an interesting debate, how to play with a tailender at the other end. Steve Waugh had enormous success batting with the tail and he didn't shield them at all, just told them he had faith in them and to hang in there.

Congrats to the Saffers!

what do you think that Sachin can alone block the entire 90+ overs today? that was just wishful thinking. the shielding argument make sense only when you are in to the last session or a heavy rain is imminent.

India shown their short of confidence by sending their senior players to SA early. They Knew, their Players will struggle there. :)

Pathetic and selfish stuff from SRT. That's why I always liked Ganguly over SRTs and Dravids of India. Ganguly was a selfless player. Other indian icons only go for records only.

That's why Ganguly was a miles better captain than these guys. After his departure, India seems to be going back to its old ways.

For sure, same goes for South Africa. Same went for us with Warne and McGrath.

Kallis debate aside, come on mate, after 1st innings you voiced some very valid criticisms of the Indian batters and their weaknesses on SA tracks, but fair play to SRT for coming up with a very commendable hundred, you can't have it both ways

Congrats to the Saffers!

Maybe it just comes down to whether or not the tailenders can hold a bat, because generally yours have been pretty good.

Well done South Africa, beating India's batting lineup by an innings is a huge achievement!

I congratulated him. I still think the pitch turned out to be seriously flat (under prepared becaus eof weather perhaps..not hard enough with enough bounce?). South Africa were 500+ for 4 wickets for example. You don't often see this in South Africa.

i know inzamam doesn't come near to sachin as a player , but he used to fight till the end !

Where did I say he'd have blocked 90 overs? But could have done some hitting. First ball singles - what purpose did that serve tell me?

Dude, give credit to Dhoni. Sachin innings was going no where untill dhoni came and took attack to SA. Player like sachin should have shielded tail.

So, Next Test @ 26th of Dec???? Means Boxing Day test??

NZ vs Pak ----> T20.

Aus vs Eng---> 4th Test.

SA vs Ind-----> 2nd Test..

Really???

Thats a great news.. I like Imran Tahir..

I have watched him this season. He will Definately play for South Africa if he can sort out his visa. Really good bowlers and turns is often on saffer tracks. Nice flight and rip too , very Warnesque.
