With South Africa having levelled the series 1-1, both teams will be looking to take the lead when they face each other in the third T20I on Wednesday, 14 April.

Overview:

South Africa vs Pakistan, 3rd T20I
SuperSport Park, Centurion
Wednesday, 14 April, 2:30pm local

The Proteas exhibited their bench strength in the second T20I with George Linde, Lizaad Williams, and Aiden Markram putting on a stellar show in the absence of South Africa’s top guns.

After a narrow defeat in the first match, the hosts came back strongly to ensure a comprehensive six-wicket victory to keep the series alive as they outclassed Pakistan in all three departments.

Both sides have their eyes on this year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup and are utilising this series to test various permutations and assess their bench strength ahead of the tournament.

Remember the last time:

Formidable South Africa defeated Pakistan comfortably with a six-wicket win, thanks to all-round performance by George Linde. He finished with impressive bowling figures of 3/23, three catches and a 20* off 10 balls with the bat.

Pakistan posted the target of 141 with Babar Azam as the lead scorer with 50 runs. The target proved to be well below par as the Proteas chased it down in the 14th over. The batting performance was led by Markram (54 off 30) and captain Heinrich Klaasen, who remained unbeaten on 36.

What they said:

Babar Azam (Pakistan captain): “We have a big pool of players and we are trying different compositions and putting batsmen and bowlers into dissimilar positions to see what combination suits us ahead of T20 World Cup. We will go into the third T20I with a positive mindset and carry the momentum into the game to win it for us.”

Heinrich Klaasen (South Africa captain): “The message to the team up front is to be positive. If you feel like you want to take the bowler down, it's your idea and your plan to go for it and that is the way we want to move forward. We want to play aggressive cricket but smart cricket as well.”

Will be interesting to see how Linde goes this time and what plan Pakistan have for him.

The loss was embarrassing to say the least. Pak need to return the favor, nothing less will do...

Lot of pressure on Babar to perform better after a match losing half century in the last match.

What is the team news for today match, I think Rauf will come back in the team and if fit Fakhar also. Are they going to give Haider another go or Asif slot in?

Sharjeel Khan looked out of sorts there while batting and fielding. If Fakhar Zaman is fit, should be back.

People should calm down about Babar Azam, one bad game and all knives are out, there are other 10 players who are playing too. Haider Ali should be persisted with. This should be the last tour for Asif Ali, he didn't improved after so many opportunities.

Pak is the only international team that puts out its strongest xi in t20i, the other teams B/C teams still manage to thrash them with overs to spare.

The batsman should know s/r of 110 don’t cut the mustard anymore !

I think maybe this 2nd t20 thrashing is blessing in disguise & may awaken them to accept reality of modern day cricket & plan accordingly.

“We have a big pool of players and we are trying different compositions"

I hope that doesn't somehow mean Sarfraz in for Rizwan after Rizzy's brain-pud last game!

If Pakistan have the competence to improve their game plan, it will be seen today. Anything short of a convincing win will be a poor performance.

Ramadan Kareem lads!

For me a few changes.

Fakhar IN, Haider OUT
Rauf IN, Hasnain OUT

Fakhar-Sharjeel to open.

Fear not boys we have a good record at centurion against SA.

Pakistan 2, South Africa 0 in t20s at Centurion.

Pak has strengthened the batting which is fair enough but, will have to utilize the bowling of Hafeez if required as 6th option.

Pakistan have won the toss and elected to bowl in the 3rd T20I against South Africa

How does Sharjeel get dropped after one game when every other hack introduced in the last 2 years got multiple chances to fail?

Misbah has his favourites which is a shame because Sharjeel was one of the best domestic performers and the type of player that Pakistan desperately need more of.

Whatever you say about Sharjeel it's laughable that Asif, Khushdil, Abid Ali, Talat etc. got actual continuation in the side but that policy has dramatically ended for one person in particular.

Qadir should have played imo anyways that being said what score does pakistan feel they can defend

Oh for gods sake Asif is back.

Hoping we get thumped today

If he comes off for 20-30 runs it might be the worst thing that could happen.

He blagged a 2019 WC spot with a flukey 52 on a pancake English pitch. That innings remains his highest ever international score lol which says it all about Asif Ali.

That middle order beyond 3.0 looks fragile on recent form

Thankfully Sharjeel is out. Fakhar at 3? Senseless to my logic but chalo... dekh le te hai!

Let's go boys!

Speaking of cowboy cricket, I see Asif Ali back in the lineup.

Nawaz is below par bowler and a nothing batsman.I don't understand the obsession with these fake all-rounders.

Shaheen has been trying a lot of things lately. He needs to calm down and bowl according to the plan

Why was the young man bowling over the wicket? He needs to go back to natural angle and stop trying to second guess the batsman.

Quality team this and people calling it their B team only dekockkk is missij in batting

SA needs to stick with Malan at the top and put QDK down the order. Malan has always impressed me whenever he has played.
