With Pakistan in the lead 2-1 and the series on the line, the best South Africa can do is to avoid a loss and tie the four-match series.

Overview

South Africa vs Pakistan, 4th T20I
SuperSport Park, Centurion
Wednesday, 16 April, 2:30pm local

After tasting defeat in the third T20I, South Africa will look to even the scores in the final T20I of the four-match series.

The hosts had a good day with the bat in the last game but sloppy fielding and inconsistency with the ball cost them the game. A maiden T20I ton from Babar Azam and an unbeaten knock of 73 from Mohammad Rizwan guided Pakistan to a record chase.

Pakistan will go in as the favorites in the fourth and final T20I as they carry the winning momentum and positives from all departments. The Pakistani bowlers were able to bounce back strongly at the death that restricted the Proteas as they fell 10-15 runs short on a track where a score of 200 seemed achievable while batting second.

Remember the last time:

The visitors exhibited a formidable approach to the run chase as the openers, Babar (122) and Rizwan (73*) helped Pakistan chase down their highest ever total of 204 in T20Is with two overs to spare.

Despite quick fifties from South Africa openers Janneman Malan (55) and Aiden Markram (63), the hosts found themselves in a losing position as the South African bowlers looked hapless against the onslaught from Babar and Rizwan that resulted in a loss by nine wickets.

What they said:

Babar Azam (Pakistan captain): “We are going into the last match of the series with a positive mindset. We will carry the winning momentum and the form to the next match but it is equally important that we rectify the mistakes and win the series.”

Heinrich Klaasen (South Africa captain): “The one thing we are guilty of over the last three games is that not one of our batters that scored a fifty, went on to make a big one. Pakistan has done that really well especially on such wickets to capitalize at the end and we will look to do that.”

Yeah they sure can. Pakistan needs to go for the kill with 3-1, a 2-2 result might look fine on paper but you have to remember this is South Africa B and half their side isn’t available due to other commitments and injuries. I feel that Sharjeel should be given another go and Rizwan who’s done well as a makeshift opener should come down the order so Pakistan can utilize all their options to get their best combination for the t20 World Cup coming up. Sharjeel will also give a left and right combination at the top.

Against this weakened South Africa team a 3-1 win is the only acceptable result.

I am not sure how we will do if we have to bat first in this game. Hopefully the bowling steps up this time and we pull off the win. Shaheen has been disappointing for me this series.

Sharjeels overall poor fitness with his terrible running between the wickets and strike rotation and poor fielding meant he was a pretty big liability in the game he played.

Pak need to drop asif ali , rest shaheen test out some of the bench strength, maybe bring back sharjeel, use this as an opportunity to test out what the players are about rather than going for a meaningless 3-1

Weird to have a four match T20I series, so this could still end in a draw.

Can guarantee Asif Ali will be retained due to reason of "not batting in the previous match" even though we know his capability.

Infact not expecting any changes in the XI, except maybe a bowling tweak after conceding 200 in the last match.

If South Africa take out Rizwan and Babar early it could mean curtains for Pakistan.

Mulder finally makes his t20 debut.

Daryn Dupavillon should have played this match instead of magala

South Africa playing with 3 left arm spinners.
They're doing everything they can to stop babar

An unchanged lineup of course :))

Well let's hope our bowling is better than what we've seen in this series.

There is an unspoken rule in T20.

“If you win the toss 10 times, then 9 times opt to bat first without thinking. And think, but still opt to bat first for the 10th time”.

Pak chose to field first nonetheless.
Let’s wish them luck and hope for the best.

Well, TBH batting second is the way to go, everyone uses this thing where they win the toss & field 1st, in PSL 6 just 1 team won batting 1st.

Chasing is the way to go in T20's especially when it's a D/N game.

Spoke to soon - great shot to conclude an otherwise decent start from SSA

I’m scared about what’s going to happen against big teams at the World Cup

Markram is so good to watch, hope he starts scoring runs heavily for SA.

Our bowling is so medicore, this time in WC we'll have to rely on our batting to win matches.

Nawaz's arm ball has really improved. If he can be consistent with his stock ball then even his arm ball will naturally become more impactful

Toss has proven to be very crucial in this series so far with teams batting second winning comfortably. Not sure SA can defend under lights

Feel sorry for Markram

The appeal is what got him out really. Nawaz kept appealing until the umpire gave it out

SSA is bowling well - hopefully with age and experience he is able to reduce the boundary ball he tends to throw down every over.

Bowling start is good so far. Pak fielding has been mainly good this series. Nawaz is more of a wicket taker than Imad but Imad batting is crucial for Pakistan at lower end.

Pakistan should end their obsession with these bits and pieces fake all rounders. All of Imad shadab nawaz should be dumped for good.

Haris needs to be more consistent in his line/length.

Needs to find his natural length.

If you look at where Haris plants his foot while bowling, it's quite sporadic and there's some inconsistency there. I think that attributes to his lack of discipline in line/length bowling. Management should look at this.

See this is where Babar goes wrong with Harris.

Just bowl out Shaheen or 3 overs in the powerplay where he finds a good rythem and some dots in. But no, the Autopilot management want to drag in Hassan and Rauf to release pressure for the opposition and add pressure to Pakistan in the power play!

Any good team would have been going at 10+ an over right now.

Rauf and Hasan throwing down absolute garbage.

Shaheen in the powerplay is fine.

Nawaz was fine, he came back well after being clobbered initially.

Haris + Hasan are the two prime candidates to give runs easily. Both are short and skiddy, and are very similar as they're both T20 style bowlers with the appropriate variations and stuff.

We can't have both of them on the team in my opinion. The bowling attack will need some balance.

If Shaheen is going to be our new-ball bowler, we need one death overs specialist and one middle overs bowler. Right now, both Hasan and Haris are playing as middle overs bowlers, so one needs to be developed for the death for us to have a proper, consistent bowling attack.

The no-ball call was unfair, but there was some pathetic bowling from Hasan Ali. Had that been a reasonable over with about 7 or 8 coming from it, we'd be in a commanding position.
