Pommie Mbangwa is the most annoying commentator in the world. Even worse than Sidhu or Jayasuriya.
 
Man, ishant and the sambar guzzler are major weak links in our attack!
Oh wait that's half our attack :)))

Such boasting from some people here. Didnt Pakistan and SA play like 12 matches in a row before that ODI series? If India had done that they would have won too or did much much better. India and SA dont play all that much to be honest.
 
Why not Morkel first up? Indians seemed more comfortable against pace of Philander.
 
Steyn with new ball and old ball are like 2 completely different bowlers. Saying that he isn't too bad with old ball just that he's outstanding with the new cherry.

There aren't a lot of gremlins on this wicket. I think India should be looking at 350-400. That would set them up very nicely and make it hard to lose the game.
 
So short-stuff coming up. Pujara and Kohli both have a knack of taking them on. No cheap wickets please.

This is the worst thing about people like you... if India do well for a session or two, it automatically becomes a flat track... Learn to atleast appreciate things.

It is a flat track though, even curator said so pre-match. There is only bounce in the pitch.
 
The track isn't flat. :facepalm:

Its no green-deck like the one in ODI but it has a good cover of grass and there is bounce. In SA the key is to survive first 20-25 overs and cash in with old ball.

Just Calling a spade a spade mate, for a test standard pitch in South Africa this is flat

Considering early swing what do you expect in the morning session of a test on a fresh pitch
 
Loving this. Pujara and Kohli vs Steyn and Philander.

Test cricket at its best.
 
Kohli you beaut that pull was a treat to watch. Just hope this contest keeps on for a while.

Baptism by fire for this new Indian team.. I hope we can have few decent performances by the end of the tour!
 
Came back from college expecting to be rolled over for a sub-50 score but am pleasantly surprised. Philander still hasn't got a wicket :P:bow:

Why are Indians so desperate to prove this to be a green pitch just to cover the insecurities of there own batsmen
 
India doing better then expected

I know its early days but so far there doing way better then i and most expected

If they can manage any where near 250-300 in the first innings i think sa will be in trouble,

Indians grabbing the ascendancy. Lots of runs to be made on this wicket.
 
I am happier seeing Pujara here. There has not been a single delivery where he looked awkward. Doesn't look like getting out at all.

Bounce doesn't mean it's a flat track. What it means is you just need to get used to the bounce and you can cash in, but you always need to be careful when playing your shots.
 
Awesome over .... Philly kept testing :kohli around that off stump line finally bowled one on the leg side after getting frustrated seeing no response
 
Surprised at the pitch, thought SA would go with a one like in the 1st ODI. Good temperament shown by India though, making the bowlers work very hard. 300 would be a good score but the problem I see is if they can get SA out for a reasonable score ?

+1, he is playing very close to his body , thats why he is surviving even jaffas. excellent technique.
 
With Zaheer back I am really hoping for a better bowling performance

It's funny how so many people think that curators, grounds trusts etc are all part of a "Team South Africa" whose main goal is to help the team win. That may be the case in places like India, but usually grounds trusts like the Bidvest Wanderers have their own financial objectives for cricket matches, and having teams rolled for 100 and matches ending in 3 days is not financially desirable.

In the ODIs they couldn't afford to leave balls and were out hitting short balls. Here they have bowled similarly but Indians have left balls

Swing, bounce, everything is there. Very similar to ODIs. In Odis we got out playing shots. Here we left those balls.

But go ahead call it flat if it helps you
