We really just have to negotiate this first hour. The ball will stop talking so much after that. Then another hour and the ball will pretty much do nothing for the next few hours, and the likes of Peterson and Kallis (no offense to them, but they are not as skilled with the ball as the frontline pacers) will be brought on and that's when we'll have to score the most runs we can, until the pacers come back when the ball is old for a spell of reverse swing where wickets are bound to fall, followed by the new ball being taken when wickets will fall again. We just have to stay at the crease and wait for the 4th and 5th bowlers to come on.

good fun this
SA commentators dishing it out more than the bowlers

Come and play on spin wickets and then see how your No1 team performs then :P

A lot of the wickwts were good deliveries.

The ball is swinging a mile. Still I suppose one fault is obvious they are pushing at the ball in front of thier pads instead of playing with softer hands.

It is just normal batting by Pakistani line up!
Younis khan just not at the races is he last few international matches.

All FTB's getting exposed after 2 years of east test cricket.

That is the problem with some fans and even some former players turned into experts.
Playing on flat wickets in UAE made them think they are a very good Test side. You have to play well in England, Aus and SA to be a good Test side.

Misbah and Azhar just needs to bat well here.

they can just play outside the line a little to counter the outswing...easier said than done i guess

Steyn got exposed in UAE. Thats how the world works. Our bowlers take wickets on flat tracks.

I notice bitter English fans both here and on cricinfo comments pleasuring themselves over Pakistan's tough times on the field. I dont blame English and Indian haters - we did inflict a lot of pain on you, so go ahead and find comfort in this....until of course we meet again eventually and give you some more pain.:wahab

Its nevr easy in morning session at johans....- need to fight it out for 20 overs things will calm down

It was swinging yesterday as well when Paksitan bowled.

Good bowling by Steyn no doubt, but poor batting from Pakistan.

But their batsmen batted better than ours!

A partnership of 50 between these two and we are right back in the game InshaAllah.

62-3 will not look that bad as SA were 46-2 yesterday at one time.

Saying it before the series begun that its all good our bowlers holding their own. However, the batting line up is one of the worst in international cricket.

We won't get beyond 250 in any of the tests

Steyns wrist position allows him to generate this kind of swing, gul can learn something lol.

Gul doesnt know anything about swing but even junaid didnt get much swing yesterday and in 2 overs that S.A bowl there wasnt much swing either

Lols Asad looked nervous out there. Calm down kid.

still havent given up hopes... i think these two can survive if they dig out for 45 min.

Went into the shower and came out to see Misbah in already :)) wth happened?

Steyn is pitching the ball up and letting it swing, junaid was shortish yesterday.

Good bowling by Steyn no doubt, but poor batting from Pakistan.

Junaid and Gul were seaming it more than swinging it.

Only Rahat was swinging the ball but it was too gentle and coming out early out of his hand.

Steyn is a total different beast. Swinging it big and swinging it late.

it is a difficult situation...but one good partnership will drive them level....and one excellent partnership will put them ahead....no doubt about it that its game on.

thuk thuk is here ..
i Mean captain saab is here don't worry
he will InshaAllah play nice and slow and steady ....

If they can bat out this session & lose just 1 more wicket, things would look a lot better ....

All Pakistan need to do is see 2 more overs of Steyn, then we have Morkel who leaks runs and trundle Kallis.

are the folks predicting the end of the world on this thread the same ones the ones who were slitting their wrists in the first hour yesterday as well?

The ball is not swinging miles anymore like it was earlier.

and once again.. it comes down to surviving rather than scoring runs

Why aren't non-Pakistanis allowed to appreciate the cricket on offer? It was quality bowling yesterday and this is world-class bowling. This is Test cricket.

I know you are one of the more prominent farmers of drivel that we have on here, but calm your anger a little.

No worries guys, Pakistan's usual collapse has already come. Now we will see some runs InshaAllah. Sometimes we have a good opening partnership and then the collapse arrives. Today it will be opposite, hopefully.

well said :)

These two just need to bat out this session, then insha'Allah it will get easier therein, as the ball will be older and the pitch even more baked.

just leave leave and leave. for the next 8 overs... thats 20% of momentum shift.. the start putting bad balls (if any) for runs.. thats another 5%.. from there I'll let the batsmen decide :yk
