What's new

South Africa vs Pakistan | 5th ODI | Cape Town | Jan 30, 2019 | Pakistan Innings

May be Babar will stop walking across the stumps like Kohli?

So you're saying babar is copying kohli??
If not, then fine
But if you are then just understand that trigger movements are really common now. Amla does it, cook used to do it, joe root does it, bairstow too.
I can give u more examples if u want

SAF bowling attack will be boosted by Ngidi's return.

Don't see Olivier being effective in England as those short balls will sit up nicely on English pitches that aren't as quick or bouncy as SAF.

I love these wickets. Too bad we won't get wickets like this in England. Value for shots. Also a bit in it for bowlers

Lack of Imam at this stage is seriously showing. Imam used to take singles for fun during the period of 11-40 overs.

Bad scheduling by CSA, should have had this game on a weekend.

I would swap Hafeez and Imam's batting positions. Imam would be so useful with the field spread and rotating the strike with singles

How do you rate your bowling combination for world cup? To me it looks a bit one-dimensional. Olivier might be needed to rattle some Asian sides.

I'm worried about taking Steyn to the WC. I was just discussing it with a co-worker, in fact.

He's an ATG but should stay at home and focus on tests. This is not our WC and some youngster should be thrown in the deep end.

As for our line-up, I'm unsure. Rabada is probably the only name confirmed at this stage. Ngidi will probably be not as potent after his injurty. Most players return with a bruised ego. All the youngsters have this mentality that they in invincible and that their body will never break down...

Vital that Pakistan consolidate. Fakhar needs to bat the whole innings. Get to 150/2 from 30 overs and then begin to target 300.

Hafeez has been poor at the top against quality opposition.

Fakhar in poor form still getting to 40 odd. Signs of a strong character, not throwing in the towel and battling it through!

Hafeez is a changed man, but it is too late now. He is finally thinking clearly after 15 years of mediocrity.

‘I’m going to settle things down with Steyn’ once a legend said...

Faf, trying to get rid of his weaker bowlers quota of overs :)

Professor schooling Steyn. The lecture is making the scenario clear :hafeez:

Depends where you play in England - the pitches will be flat but The Oval and Old Trafford are the quickest and bounciest pitches in the country. But no wicket is as quick as what we see in SAF.

Lord's and Cardiff are slower and suits spin. Taunton is the most spin friendly deck in the country. Trent Bridge is the mother of all Phattas.

You can tell that Fakhars preferred shot is the slog to long on.

Steyn has been leaking runs throughout really.

Reminds me of a slightly quicker Waqar Younis in 2003

Yeah it's odd because he's one of the best at hitting against spin in this team.

When you are out of form and confidence, nothing works. This has happened with top players, nothing to worry about he will find his form again. His weaknesses against short ball and legside will still be there but he will be able to tackle them better once he finds his touch again.

A real shame we never got to see Shan Masood get a game. Bilaterals is all about testing out new players and assessing the strength of the XI.

These guys need to bat long. I don’t trust the guys to come. Truth be told I don’t trust these guys as well, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Wont happen before WC unless someone is unfit or we win Aus or Eng series before the end.

In a deciding ODI away to SAF, the result must be prioritised over experimentation. Beating SAF here would be a huge confidence boost heading into the WC.

We can play Shan vs Australia in UAE.

I think Abbas should be tried before the world cup and he might as well pair with shaheen to bowl the new ball in England... the current bunch of batsmen are not good players of seam, swing and spin .... because the pitches offer nothing to the bowlers as they come gun barrel straight...

I appreciate keeping the same XI in the warm up games when every side arrives in England but there is no reason why they can't make a couple of rotations like they did with Faheem, Shinwari and Hasan Ali.

Couple of years back when he was tonked for 96 by Austarlia at durban, he looked pretty much gone. Having said Rabada was also massacred in that match. But he came back well in Australia. Due to his age, injuries his performance will continue to be up and down.
