It's not parram, its pazham. Malayalam "zha" can't be pronounced in english. Only north indian who pronounce "zha" correctly is Shreya Goshal afaik.

Electron - Here's is an explanation about the rational argument.
1. First of all, let me say that there is no superiority stuff going on.
2. Second of all, it doesn't mean others aren't rational.
Now here's the thing:
A community is judged NOT by its lowest common denominator but by the experience most people have interacting with people of that community. This is assuming the lowest common denominator isn't so bad that it overpowers and clouds everyone's judgement.
South Indians are called more rational because the educated masses (whose numbers in absolute tersm are very high and you can meet these people in South India, North India, foreign countries, etc) are pretty good.
This doesn't mean other communities are bad or anything. It just means that if you meat 20 South Indian fellas and 20 felllas from other community, 99 out of 100 times, you would notice South Indian fellas to be more rational and less filled with hate.
Whenever I read her name, I start humming the lines.. Akkakko Adi Kinnikozhi.. Appappo Enna Pinnikodi..
It's not parram, its pazham. Malayalam "zha" can't be pronounced in english. Only north indian who pronounce "zha" correctly is Shreya Goshal afaik.
But most of the posters here judged North community based on rapes and riots. Is it because that is an overpowering aspect or is it based on your experience of interacting with these communities?
What kind of hate are you talking about? Isn't it hate when one has to bring up rapes and riots to generalize that South Indian society > North India ?
From the outside, say for a Pakistani, it would appear that North Indians are full of hate while South Indians and North East people are the more rational bunch, but that is because their whole perspective revolves around our view of them. Things that make us go hot under our collar don't concern you.
But touch a sensitive South Indian or North East Indian subject, and this is where rationality takes a nosedive and hate starts to flow. You say that 99/100 people more rational and without much hate? From what I saw..they couldn't even help hating their own neighbours. Majority of Tamils I met had nothing but bad words for Malyalis. "Sir, if it wasn't for water and tourism, these Keralites would be beggars..they are useless trouble-makers." , people told me this stuff with a lot of happiness.
I did see a lot of hate there too bro. It is just that international forums never really touch the subjects you lot get emotional about (Not YOU obviously..but South Indians in general).
Our people had some problem issues regarding the mullaperiyaar dam. Apart from that i don't think there any animosities with tamil.

What about Kannadigas and Tamils regarding Cauvery water issue?
I don't know much about it. But when jayalalitha was convicted in the bangalore court, the local tamil amma fanboys didn't spare a single karnataka registration vehicle. It was scary tbh.
yes, and same when kannadiga star dr. rajkumar was kidnapped. and even during his funeral. huge personality cult everywhere (except kerala from what i have seen) and yet people come up with "rational mind" self praise.
How do you know about everything? You are very well informed about most subjects, quite strange given you are most likely not even in India.
But seriously, tamils are very good. They are emotional but better friends than malayalis whom you don't know when will backstab you. Malayalis are clever in a wicked way.
I have known only one malayali. She was a very good person (grudged notwithstanding). And very pretty. I used to call her kutti.

Huh?
If you pick up a fight with a Tamil guy, he will come back with 5 people.
If you pick up a fight with a Telugu guy, he will come back with 50 people.
If you pick up a fight with a Mallu guy, he will come back with almost army of Mallus.
And what happens if you pick up a fight with a Kannadiga?
One genuine question I always wanted to know..
Are all the Yadavs the clan of Krishna's Yadava clan?
Does Umesh Yadav (or any Yadav for that matter) belong to the same clan or its just a name?
Yadavs were a group generic low caste cow herder castes also known as ahirs in north India. About 150 years ago, during a sanskritization period they reformed themselves as Yadavs and claimed to be of Rajput origin. In some areas, they are quite dominant and in other areas they are one step above Dalits.
They are probably found in Pakistan also...probably whatever name they give to the cow herder caste.
Oh God...
How could I miss Dravid?
And I didn't misss legund Vinay Kooomar.![]()
you missed Azhar too
Nope.Lord Krishna belonged to yaduvanshi kshatriya clan whose descendents are modern day Rajput clans like Bhatis, jadons etc .They are chndravanshi or from lunar dynasty. The Ahirs are different. They were originally shepherds.Related to yashoda and nanda I think.
Yupp. Krishna is the Son of Devaki and Vasudev. Both Kshatriyas. He was raised by Yasodha (A Yadav lady).

Exactly.Ahirs or modern day yadavs basically raised him. That's about all.

Usually Tamils are more rational than most other Indians becoz we are more socially developed and reformed than most other states .This is speculation on your part. Anecdotal experience at best. Not backed by serious study.
And literate doesnt make one rational. One can give oneself all the tributes one wants, but there is no evidence to back it up.
I find Tamil people very accepting as long as you learn Tamil. Otherwise, it will be extremely hard for an outsider to survive there.
Just look at Tamil industry. Almost all of their stars are non-tamils. The only Tamil superstars are Kamal Hasan and Ajith.
Ajith is not tamil...one of his parents is from kerela and another from somewhere north...and he did not even know tamil untill he started acting. His debut was also a telugu movie.
Ohh. I know he is an Iyer. So assumed he is Tamil by default. His mum is Sindhi.
So Kamal Hasan is the only true Superstar in Tamil cinema?
Hmm...
Vikram ?? If you consider him a star that is -- would have been during anniyan..but not sure now !
Vijay is not tamilian?..he is a superstar
Older gen...sarathkumar, vijayakanth??? not sure if they are "superstars" !
Vijaykanth is a Kapu. Has Andhra roots.
Sarath Kumar is not a superstar me thinks.
A Mallu friend of mine once told me that Actor Vikram's dad is a Malayalee.
I missed Joseph Vijay completely.
EVerything bro.
I have Telugu, UP, Tamil, Kannada connections. My family is a Jeeta Jaagta example of National Integration.
Brought up in Andhra. Hence I can read and write Telugu fluently.
How can you do that? this is conspiracy by Thala fans against our Ilaiyathalapathy Lol !
Oh Did not know about Gaaptain's Kapu roots !

Have you lived only in Chennai ? or Have you gone to other parts for Tamil Nadu ?
My friend is a Kapu and he is a huge fan of Vijaykanth just because of his caste. To him Chiranjeevi and Vijakanth are Gods
I also forgot Surya![]()
Ohh. I know he is an Iyer. So assumed he is Tamil by default. His mum is Sindhi.

Yeah..Mee too ! Surya is still below Ajith and vijay IMO...in terms of BO !
haha...Chiranjeevi is a legit filmstar man...it is so sad to see him decline in status last few years ! 80,90s and early 2000s were golden period for Megastar ! Used to be a huge huge fan...I even contributed some money in putting up banners for his 2006 crapfest 'Stalin' in from theatres..was in 11th grade then -- begining of the end of chiru-Mania in andhra !
I never lived in Tamilnadu. I cannot understand a word of Tamil except for Vanakkam and Muttal and Sapatu.
I only visited Chennai a lot for travelling purposes.
Sivaji ganeshan, was one he was gifted a key to the Buffalo City in the 70s. That is something else. MGR was probably the biggest star of Tamil cinema. He was a star outside the cinema world as well. MGR used to send books, pencils, erasers, chalks to schools in SL as well. He was a great man. There was an article that came on a Tamil weekly magazine where MGR's former right hand men said"you may get away from the law, but you'll never get away from MGR" and linked the incidents in the late 60s and 70s where many criminals disappeared without a trace. He also send something about scaring the crap out of Rajnikanth and admitting him to a hospital.
I never watched movies much. My dad was into Bollywood and we watched Hindi movies mostly. Never liked that Chiranjeevi guy anyways.

Where do you both live ?
I never watched any Chiranjeevis or any Telugu films but these guys dance crazyyy.
I hated the trend which MGR brought in Tamil Nadu..and similarly what NTR brought in Andhra..still today is being used by Stars. The Trend of using Cinema as a narcisstic medium to promote self image and their careers outside films..especially politics..usually becomes unbearable in their later careers to make their foray into Politics smooth. Chiranjeevi tried to do the same thing..and failed miserably. MGR was a corrupt Man with a great PR skills...and so was NTR !
I consider Marathis as South Indians. Vast majority of them look no different from a Kannadiga or Andhra person.
Dravid is a Maharashtrian descent.
what is the relation between tamils in india and SL. do they identify with each other and are they close to each other?
what is the relation between tamils in india and SL. do they identify with each other and are they close to each other?
Tamils in India and SL share the same language obviously.so they identify with each other a bit..and there is sympathy for situation in SL from Tamils in India...! not sure on food and everything ! And they movies is common too
No, Maharashtrians aren't similar to South Indians. The language, cuisine, culture does not have much similarity.
One big difference is that most of them know Hindi very well (could be because Marathi & Hindi are both written in the same script).
Also rice is not the predominant part of the meal. We have Chapaati/Roti (made from wheat) too. Regional dress is different too.
By this, I am not implying that they are similar to north Indians either. Central/West India is a different kettle of fish.
Appearance wise, they look no different from Telugu or Kannadiga people. May be the Maratha people and the Brahmins might look a bit different.
Yeup that's why modern day yadav claims his ancestry but of course that's false..Lord Krishna was a Kshatriya and a chandravanshi as opposed to lord Ram who was born in suryavanshi kul. Thanks guys.
So Krishna's clan was a Yaduvanshi Kshatriya clan since he was raised by Yashoda, Yadava (Vaishya) clan is associated with him.

btw jadeja clan of Rajputs are chandravanshi too so Ravindra jadeja has more chance of being related to Keshav than Umesh yadav.

All the South Indian states are not the same. Probably religion is the only unifying factor!
what is the relation between tamils in india and SL. do they identify with each other and are they close to each other?
The two groups of Tamils located in Sri Lanka are the Sri Lankan Tamils and the Indian Tamils. Sri Lankan Tamils (also called Ceylon Tamils) are descendants of the Tamils of the old Jaffna Kingdom and east coast chieftaincies called Vannimais. The Indian Tamils (or Hill Country Tamils) are descendants of bonded labourers sent from Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka in the 19th century to work on tea plantations.[75][76] A significant Tamil-speaking Muslim population exists in Sri Lanka; over 90 percent of Sri Lankan Muslims use Tamil as their mother tongue. However, unlike Tamil Muslims from India, they are not culturally linked with ethnic Tamils, they are therefore listed as a separate ethnic group in official statistics.[77][78][79]
MGR was always an actor, he was forced to join politics by this politician named Karunanidhi(2G SCAM guy) to fight for the poor. reduce Brahmanism's dominance and fight the caste system. MGR found out that Karunandihi was corrupted, formed his own party and so on. I don't know about NTR, sorry so i can't comment on that.

Nah...it's sachin tendulkar and a r rahman..![]()
That's North East .are 7 sister states are in south india
Usually Tamils are more rational than most other Indians becoz we are more socially developed and reformed than most other states .
We had anti-caste and women empowerment movements in 1930s itself whereas most states are only catching up in the last 2-3 decades. The BIMARU states are even worse still.
Kerala has high literacy
how recent was ths migration?
lets say if its close to 100 yrs then they have probably gone far apart in terms of culture and how langguage is spoken in my estimiation
even murali marrried an indian tamil right?
Tamils in India and SL share the same language obviously.so they identify with each other a bit..and there is sympathy for situation in SL from Tamils in India...! not sure on food and everything ! And they movies is common too
Some Indians (Tamils) went to Sri Lanka some time in history I think. They are the minority community there (around 10-12%), the majority being Sinhalese. Murali is a Tamil.
For more info, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Lankan_Tamil_people
Oh yes, Tamils are more rational. That is why it took 2012 when dalits got to enter a 120 year old temple for the first time. I salute the anti caste empowerment in TN and hope other states catch up.
Thats because all the illiterate Mallus are in Bangalore.
South Indians are rational minded. What is rational minded? Belief in religion? Casteism? Personality cult? This statement is flawed at so many levels.
The 2 of the main political parties in Tamil Nadu were started to crush the caste system through "Anti-Brahmanism". Caste system was relatively new(several hundred years) and didn't have them in the past in TN. As usual, they did everything except crushing the caste system. I'm learning about caste system through this forum than i have ever learned. I didn't know the name of different castes except "Brahmins", and I don't know my caste either nor do i want to know. So i guess the caste system is finally coming down. In 20 years, the caste system will be fully gone for good.

I hear that its castes like Thevars, Muduliar vs Dalits in Tamilnadu
A lot of Iyers and Iyengars ran away from Tamilnadu during the Dravidian movement. Most settled in Karnataka, Mumbai and Delhi.
That is why it was LOLworthy to read Tamils are "rational minded" when caste apartheid is still being practiced in pockets of tamil nadu even in this century.
