Sri Lanka won the toss & elected to bowl first. Will be interesting to see how Sri Lanka play against India following a successful tour of Bangladesh.

I hope Inzamam show some guts and any T20 series give all new players chances, as this format doesn't command any great respect in cricket world if you ask any real cricket fan. So why not use this opportunity to test new players and see how they go about it.
 
BCCI need to stop being cry babies and play series against Pakistan. Tired of them beating out poor srl brothers team.😢.

Also tired of seeing same teams playing against eachother just to make money and not thinking about the game in whole which is slowly but surely dying because of mickey mouse cricket.
 
Playing Karthik instead of Hooda.

What is the point of playing these meaningless t20’s if you keep playing Karthik, unadkat, Pandey etc.

Selectors should get in their brain that Pandey is not t20 material. He is like Babar Azam. Mostly around 100 s/r.
 
Dhawan is the second best LOI player for India after Kohli.
 
Pant is a proper hack and this guy is going to replace Dhoni? LOL. Charging down on every ball? This is how gully mohalla cricket player plays. Wasn't impressed with him last time he played for India and this time also he is looking like a blind slogger.

He is a youngster and has shown before he can be a terrific hitter.

MSD is a had been and 38 yrs old. There is no guarantee that he will even be fit for 2019 WC. Dude will be 39 by then.

Huge difference. If you do not try out youngsters you will never know who has it to make it big.
 
Incredibly poor finish by India against a mediocre bowling attack.

Give Pant this full series to prove if he belongs will come good ! To much pressure maybe, trying too hard to prove himself !

People forget how long kohli, Rohit took to become what they are today.. If it wasn’t for yuvi, Dhoni, Sachin, Sehwag who made it easier for players like kohli, Rohit to become comfortable in team we wouldn’t have such players..

Not everyone can be a Dhoni who comes into international team and makes An immediate impact.. Hese sort of series are perfect opportunity to groom Pant and other youngsters.. Though we still play Dinesh Kartik so what the heck.
 
India would have lost this series if Dhawan wasn't playing. Rohit is too hit or miss off late.

This is the problem with fans.

They think a youngster has to come straight away and blast sixes. No patience. MSD would have played a similar inning in the same situation. But the difference is, Pant has a lot of upside and future. The future of MSD is retirement.

Guys like Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan and Samson could have been tried too. This is a pointless series which no one remembers the day after it finishes. The only thing that India could gain is if a few youngsters could come good.

I watched since the 15th over and to be honest pant looked all at sea while Dhawan was murdering the same bowlers. Now DK is also batting well. Bowling is average but Pant's innings today is potentially a match losing one. He is young and learning but you gotta criticise where it is due.

AHh ok, well I’m sure the team management will look at his innings today and dissect it.. If Pant is identified as the next Keeper then he should be given a consistent run in the squad so he learns and gets to practice with he best coaching staff..

Well! I'm not in for Dhoni vs Pant comparison here! But I would say this guy Pant is a terrible timer of the ball. Even during his 1st T20 series, this guy couldn't put a ball on his bat. And nothing new today either! All the shots he played were mistimed and was never in his zone. He is a worst bat that Bhuvi I must say! He's not ready for international cricket yet. I would rather invest on Samson more and fetch results than this pant guy! And no, even if Dhoni played a similar innings today, he would have made it up for his slow start during the last 2 overs. But Pant looks like a total hack like Binny!

DK batted well? A couple of edges flew to boundaries.

As an Indian team fan, I do not worry about the result of the match. This series is about youngsters getting a look and that is how it should be.

If Pant fails the entire series, its time to test another youngster. May be Hooda or Kishan or Sarfraz Khan or someone new.

We all know what Dhawan or Rohit can do. Its time to Test young guns.

It's nothing to do with him being young and new. Just look at his technique. Looks like a tullaybaaz.

This is ridiculous really. They were playing just before Indias SA tour

I saw this while flicking TV channels like 30 mins ago and legit thought that it was highlights. I saw this thread and had to double check

God this must be boring! I feel even bad for SL fans because either they have overdose of India or overdose of Pakistan but not much else. Don't understand how there is still appetite for this

Lol what are you talking about. Nobody is expecting him to come and hit sixes. Take a look at his technique. This is not going to work in International Cricket. He reminds me of another tullaybaaz Awais Zia. May be you don't know about him.

Did the regular commies get bored aswell that they had to bring Sohail in? Even Pak matches don't have him as first choice

Who would you prefer as replacement for Dhoni in LOI’s?

I think in t20 being a lappeybaaz is the way to go if you don’t bat in top 4.. ODI’s you need decent technique.
 
Kusal was in scintillating form against BD, lets see if he can replicate it here.

He may be a hack. If you look at the technique, then MSD is a hack. But he still scored tons of runs in his career. Your profile picture is a hack too. No feet movement and still flays the ball.

Hacks are what are needed for T20's. You do not want technically correct Rahane or Pandey type players playing T20's and scoring at 100 S/R.

WI T20 team is full of hacks. They click and they win the matches.

Cricket is still the biggest sport in India by far so series against SL will always be watched by enough number of people to generate decent Revenue.. Also the fact India wins helps people stay tuned imagine if SL beat India 9 out of 10 times I don’t think same number of people would watch these repititive series like they do now when India is the dominant team.

Dk scored 13 off 6. And there was only 1 edge. Pant scored 23 (23). I can see who batted better.

Anyways , not saying Pany should be dropped for it. That would be stupid. Just calling today's innings as it is.
 
This is really putting the Indian batting (barring Dhawan) into perspective.

LOL. So you are going to compare Sehwag, Dhoni with someone who closes his eyes, charges down the track on every alternate ball and can't even clear the inner circle? Kohli is a technically correct player and he is a beast in T20s. Can't believe some people can go to any length to save their favorite players. Still loling at the comparison with Sehwag.
 
These Unadkats and Thakurs Shakurs go for millions in IPL and they are saying PSL is gully mohallah level

After 1 inning you are saying this? If he connected those slogs, these same fans would be singing his praise.

Good that you are not a selector. Otherwise, the likes of MSD and Sehwag would never have seen the day light.

If Pant had played innings like this after 15-20 internations, I would be the first one to criticize and drop him. Not after 2 or 3 innings.

Kohli is one of a kind. Can't compare anyone with him.

Did you like the 35 ball 35 run inning from the technically correct Pandey today? No criticism for him I see.
 
This series will be followed by others more than Indian fans. Obviously, more than own league just to get pleasure of seeing India lose(rare occurrence) :facepalm:
 
India is worse than Pakistan without top 3.

Our bowling bench strength is terrible.

BK/Bumrah/Shami/Kuldeep/Chahal are class. After that the drop is pretty steep. Thakur's and Unadkat's are below average.
