Sri Lanka beat Australia by 229 runs in the 2nd Test

Chief Destroyer Convict if you wanna see the reaction of the people live just search #SlvAus on Twitter and you can see what the Aussies are thinking. More Aussies are watching the game than I thought. I do the same while we are playing England just so I can see them crying.

Bowling has been very good but fairly ordinary batting from both sides except for a few must be said. Oz either playing for spin that's not there or trying to play the ball with their pads. And our lot just gifting their wickets away playing loose shots.

I'm probably one of those guys.

Cricket is still pretty popular in Australia so we all know about this.

Want to see Roshen debut next Test. Silva's time is up I think. Mindset far too negative. Karuna too barely hanging on.

Looks like there's a bit of pus coming out.

SL already have more than enough.

Declare now and finish the game before stumps? :13:

Mathews thinking 500 minimum I would reckon.

Aussie spinners have been so ordinary this test. Pretty much all the wickets they have picked up have been through God awful Lankan batting. I thought Lyon would be better than this.

Looks like a big thrashing coming Aussies way. I knew Aussies would struggle against 281, but this is something ... hope Anjelo doesn't delay long enough for safety before couple of Days rain ........

Holland is so ordinary but they don't have anyone else. SOK keeps getting hurt at the wrong time. Zampa is not FC material yet.

Can't play swing, can't play spin. Why are these World No.1 again ?

Clarke would have declared here.

Ideally, SRL should bat one hour into 3rd day, so that they can use the heavy roller tomorrow morning. Aussies lost the plot more on fear than anything else - this wicket is much better than giving 4 wickets to Dilruhan Perera. An hour of batting after heavy roller would take out the top surface.

In general, spin playing capacity is lowest in crickets history, at least in last 100 years; but Aussies looks to be pathetic even in that standard.

just bat the day out and declare with 5-6 overs to go. what would u gain by declaring now?

This is an inexperienced Oz side as well they'll learn from it.

Roshen is a middle order bat tho. Who's going to open?

I would still stick with Karuna for ahwhile but Silva needs to change his approach. Getting bogged down even when the conditions are not all that bad doesn't help him nor the team. He makes every track look like some kind of a minefield.

Karuna
Kusal
Mendis
Mathews
Roshen
Chandi
Dhananjaya

That would be my top seven for the next Test.

I overheard Nathan Lyon sledging through the stump mic.

"What're you smirking about mate? Can't play cricket unless you're in your own country?"

:)))

That's got to be about the worst sledge imaginable given the circumstances. I hope Herath was able to point out the irony of the situation!

Thats entirely because of the inferiority complex residing in our own people. When majority of these clown fans bash their team mercilessly for failing to do well abroad, they forget how bad the other teams have been in the sub-continent. I have zero respect for the Australian test team. I saw my team absolutely massacre them and destroy them into a submissive pile of crap in the UAE. No matter how well they do in New Zealand, South Africa or England, Australia will never have any semblance of respect given how bad they are in Asia. Quite funny how they never get bashed for it as much as the sub-continent teams.

Cant see Aussies even getting close to chasing down what ever they are set to win, huge series win coming up for SL it looks like.

Well bowled Starc :mj

11/94, brilliant effort. He's stood up pretty much alone in this test match for Australia.

I think the main problem with Australia in the subcontinent is that the batting is hapless. The bowlers usually perform to an acceptable level. Especially if the batsmen would back them up once in a while and give them a score to work with, I think Australia would be much more competitive in Asia. Starc's 11/94 in this match is an excellent example of that. Also in the previous match having knocked Sri Lanka over for 117... if Australia's batsmen had delivered even a five marks out of ten performance in these two tests they'd have won the series based on the strength of the bowling.

3 full days left, just over 400 to get, even run rate just over 1 can do it for Australia.

This is pathetic stuff from Australia.

A two tier test system would be hilarious, every team would lose away and win at home, make for some mad relegation matches.

Lol.
Convict do you have Irish parentage? Not too late to switch sides :yk

Khawaja is rated as a good spin player in Australia.

No he isn't, everybody knows he's crap against offspin. Swann created that rating and impression during the 2013 Ashes and it's stuck ever since. In fact he got out in exactly the same way in that series as he did today, leaving a straight one.

Aussies are completely out of their depth, this series should balance out the runs they get on the roads back home.

I'm only going by the comments I've read in Australian forums..

Game will be over by tea tomorrow and SL will have won series 2-0.

Aussies are seriously pathetic against spin.

Lol Australia being put to the sword.

What a useless team. They should just play at home..

I'd be astonished if it lasts till tea.

In all likelihood it will end before lunch.

Warner is the only one who's not a walking wicket and he plays so aggressively that he's bound to go sooner or later.

Damn

Australia are getting wrecked here

Voges needs to hit his average x5 to win this

Preparing 1 day green tops when you always lose the toss is better? :13:

They prepare roads which negate pace, spin. The bounce becomes friendly and batsmen like Voges average close to 100.

Actually, i was being facetious. I would love to see the Roos destroyed.

3 full days left to get some 400 runs ... Hmmmm !!! I am sure they will talk this fact over and over in the dressing room .. but .... guys like Warner can't be subdued. He will whack the ball the First chance he gets ... whatever happens .... happens. Rooting for SL though. Australians have been on the top for just too long. So it is going to be a fun viewing ... SL will win. I am more or less sure.

Just saw the replay, cause highlights are for losers. Anyway, Smith almost got out on the last ball of the day lol. #Tier2

Rangana is getting better with age, improved batting as well. Won't be surprised, if he finishes with 2000+ Test runs & 450+ wickets.

Warner given.

It appears that Australia have finally gone full minnow and decided that the top two batsmen get the reviews no matter what

I think, ball is turning so much that they are not habituated with this - can't judge which one might miss.

Nah. Ball is turning so variably that it's messing them up.

When do Australia tour India? They should be there one month before the first official practice game, hire local coaches to work with them and organize any practice matches possible. Even tier 2 club teams will do.

Unfortunately we can't because ODIs.

As it is we're be playing Sri Lanka in a home T20 while the Australian test squad is in India.

Does it help much? It's not that they are technically poor - using feet well in attacking shots, blocking well also. It's just that they hardly play turning balls for long in Shield these days, therefore can't concentrate for that long. Since morning, I guess, I have seen 3 or 4 defensive shots - this'll not help even with a month long preparation.

Shield wickets has to change to old Australian wickets, so that every FC side plays at least 1.5 spinners. I didn't know that Zampa's FC average is 50+...... that's scary, particularly against these batsmen.

Zampa doesn't play much shield cricket.

Which means CA has taken spinners out of Australian 2 innings games.

Nah. It's because he's no good. Travis Head doesn't do that badly for South Australia with his part timers.

There are technical flaws. They're moving far too much. Contrary to what most might think, on turners it is best to stay still, once you've fully gauged the length then make decisive movements either a long stride forward or deep in the crease, in some cases coming down the ground preferably not at the start of your innings.

None of them look assured, often catching themselves inbetween neither confidently lunging forward or getting deep in the crease. Even the skip down the ground is with a lot of hesitancy and the SL bowlers can see that.

The practice matches against club sides are to improve concentration.

Agree with the decision. seemed like an inside edge

What they'll benefit most from is playing against local spinners and working with local coaches.
