New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first

Sri Lanka: Tharanga, Jayasuriya, Sangakkara, M Jayawardene, Silva, Dilshan, Mubarak, Wijekoon, D Fernando, Malinga, Vaas

New Zealand: Vincent, McCullum, Fulton, Taylor, Styris, Oram, McMillan, Vettori, Bond, Gillespie, Martin

Vaas is a class act isnt he. Consistent from ball one. On the spot and moving it around.

Fernando is the bowler to get after in my opinion, out of the SL pacemen.

2 dropped catches already from the Lankans.

I'm jut killing an hour or so before the big game: Aus v Wales (Rugby WC)

Pakistan will have a bit of trouble come Monday night with Vaas and Malinga

Vincent out
NZ 25-2 after 5.1

Taylor another six. expensive over from Wijekoon but takes a wicket off Fulton
NZ 95-3 after 10.5 overs

Jayauriya get Styris LBW. little unluky there
NZ 99-4 after 12 overs
Malinga on to bowl his first over

WijeKoon comes back on and Taylor hits a six
NZ 124-5 after 15.1 ovrs

Oram smashes a 6 straight down the ground off Malinga. Clean striking.

Vettori runout on last ball. trying to convert a single into two
NZ 164-7 after 20 overs

Jayasuriya with 2 fours in second over. moves to 17 off 8 balls
SL 20-0 after 2 overs - need 145 more

Jayasuriya with 2 more fours in 3rd over. moves to 25 off 11.
SL 35-0 after 3

commentator saying good over by Martin - only 7 runs off it
Tharanga 32 Jayasuriya 26
SL 60-0 after 6 - need 105 to win from 84 balls

Gillespie swotted into the stands by Jayasuria to a square fine leg.

Jayasuriya with two consecutive sixes - his first ones this match
SL 75-0 from 39 balls

Bond drops simple catch of Jayasuriya . this was following a drop of a harder chance a ball earlier

NZ probably thinking about the 100 points they scored in Rugby today

Well at least Martin held onto one. Tharanga gone to Vettori caught at long off.

SL first 50 off 28 balls. second 50 off 40
SL 102-1 after 12
NZ was 99-4

Jayasuriya started with 40 off 18 and since has scored 15 off 24
SL 152-2 - need 13 from 17

All over. Sri Lanka win by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare. That was so easy for them. Jayasuria and Jayawardena were so classy with the bat.

Don't forget Tharanga. He set the tone for the innings

are teams carrying points forward?is this win going to give srilanka 2 points over nzl in super eight?

thats not fair to teams who win their group.but it means that pakistan 's lost to india won't cost pak anything.

That was just an awesome batting display - Tharanga, Jayawardene, and especially Jayasuria batted like they were chasing a total under 100, not chasing 165 at 8 runs an over. Really fine batting and of course, they bowled pretty well as well.

They have been dominating so far this WC.

Sri lanka look ideally suited to this format of the game.

covers are coming off the pitch for SA-Bang game
G Smith probably back but Gibbs might not be

Sri Lanka is an amazing team...a supreme victory for them again.
