What's new

Sri Lanka v Pakistan | 1st ODI | Dambulla | 30/7/09 [PAK inns]

Malik will always be a sitting duck when ball swings around. Yes all our batsmen are pretty poor against moving ball but malik always looks the worst when trying to combat it!

Why is Malik even a short term solution is beyond me.

that was a bad call by Younis. Malik has failed as an opener before. No point putting him through that again.

If Fawad should have played in place of Misbah, and we need at least one specialist opener in the squad.

Malik not an opener anyway....bound to happen. Again the wisdom of Younus Khan baffles me after seeing Malik hopelessly sruggle against the new ball in tests. If Malik was always going to open...why play him?

As for Afridi, this should be a test and a half.

because mr 'nice guy' younis is doing all he can to accommodate the 'senior' players. It will be interesting to see how Afridi approaches the selection of the 20/20 team.

LOL, look at Malik's legs as he gets bowled. Pathetic, pathetic display of batting from a mediocre, phateechar batsman.

Akmal needs to act as the sheet anchor here and bat through the inns.

Malik is an embarrassment to be an opener. I've been saying it for looooong time.

Good over, 7 off it. The runs will flow as long as these two are out there.

Thats what happens when you dont pick an opener
And there is a valid reason for not playing specialist openers. They aren't any better :(

No...youve been saying Malik the middle order bat is an embarrassment.

Yep...exactly...probably would have been 0-2 with specialists.

Except, of course, for Nasir Jamshed who averages 44 in the 10 odi's he's had so far.

Shockingly poor shot from Akmal 41/2

Moyo new man in.

Fighter, cheetah,mr crisis ,moon,mr reliable and now PHATEECHAR is a new addition in malik dictionary.

No, as a middle order batsman he is pathetic, as an opener he is an embarrassment.

This is going to be tough! Misbah i ahve no faith, YK and Razzaq and Alam are left but hope these two build a partnership!

Both openers out due to just not moving feet or getting to picth of the ball

And Akmal goes for his customary 20-odd as an opener. There's a reason why he averages about 25 as an opener...

I think Akmal was expecting it to go away, but it just held its line.

Pakistan are surviving all the good balls and getting out to the staright ones. Also, you've got to put away leg stump half volleys, which they keep failing to do.

Shocking footwork and technique from Akmal, i've seen him getting out like this many a times. His tendency to throw away good starts is shocking.

I think it's about time Sarfraz gets a run. Akmal's had a 100 odi's now and he still averages in the mid-20's. Couple that with his terrible glovework and it's a travesty that Sarfraz hasn't got a proper run yet.

Malik and Kamran dismissal was done by brilliant delivery. Yousuf is done by poor delivery. That shot was certainly not needed.

Pakistan is under pressure now. Three batsmen gone so far!

Can anybody tell me as to why we wake up at 4 am to watch this pathetic performance by a pathetic team. Anybody?

Thats it all over....Kulasekara the nemesis....i told you, the dude just loves bowling to Pakistanis, we just gift him wickets.

To laugh at wrist-slitters like you.

Haha

I just won me £10 (I dont normally bet but I was quite convinced Yousuf was going to fail under pressure). Back to Pakistan though, yet again they need Younis to haul them from disaster.

because we love Pakistan and want pakistan to win...while pak cricket team love their career more than Pakistan winning...

Again i beg to ask the question...what makes our so called "world class" batsman "world class". Yousuf consistently gets out when the pressure is on....im sorry and that too to soft dismissals.
