This is one of the good counter attacks i have seen from Pakistan in a long time.

I can't speak for the folks who don't care if we lose to Sri Lanka. I find it incredibly shortsighted to not assess every performance between now and December 2016 as how it builds towards a more effective team.
I mean do we really need to be considered astute followers of the game for knowing that Hafeez is a rubbish batsman. It is a reality that Misbah, Yk, Hafeez (I apologize to Misbah and Yk for mentioning them in the same group as Hafeez) will need to go by the end of this year, because that's how professional sports works: you don't get to play forever.
And it doesn't matter how many young batsmen fail between now and the end of 2016. The answer will never be to take two 40 year old guys to tour.

Remind me of what happened when we left our two best batsmen at home in 2010 (YK & Yousuf) and took the youngsters to England. You always play your best batsmen in test regardless of age. There are 4 other batting slots and in the last decade we've developed 1 decent test class batsman (Azhar). Nodoubt Misbah will retire soon enough and another slot will open but if no domestic batsmen has even been able to oust Shafiq from the no. 6 spot then i'm not too optimistic of our future middle order prospects.

Damn, that partnership was going so well.

Rash from Younis Khan.

Asad looking very comfortable against pace of matthews. Good signs

Younis never looked settled out there, and a terrible way to get out.

Really poor effort this from our batsmen so far in this inns, we will be lucky to get close to SLs 1st inns total here!

Our opening pair is the worst among test nations!!!!

until they realise hafeez is not a opening batsman ... it will tend to be like this forever... he cant play swing is a fact bro unfortunately for the mgmt and PCB hafeez looks like dravid to them, so what can we do...

Younis never looked settled out there, and a terrible way to get out.

He did become settled and was manoeuvring the field really well, then threw it all away.

We have an amazing ability to keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

He was trying to be too aggressive for the sake of it.

^ Murali Vijay, Cook and Warner are the three best openers in Test cricket today.

Dhawan is much better than Hafeez and Shehzad.

Don't get mad at Younis Khan for getting out. One of the Sri Lanka fielders put him off by saying they were having Yorkshire Pudding and onion gravy for dinner. He got excited then got out.

If true, then it is unprofessional of Younis to be fasting while playing international cricket. He is on national duty, and that comes first.

If he can't skip fasts while playing then he should not play at all during Ramzan, rather than not be at his best because of his religious beliefs.

Misbah is past it.

What a take by Sangakkara. A shame he's retiring.

15 years without a Test win in Galle looks set to continue.

Need to get to at least 200-220 here.

Shafiq and Sarfraz partnership has clicked in recent times, badly needed today.

2010 was 5 years ago, so I am not sure what your point is there?
And if your biggest concern is that a debutant has not ousted a 40 averaging middle order batsmen, then I am not sure we have anything to discuss

Since the first day was washed out, won't follow on requirement be 150 ?

Lets bash the guy who made more runs then the rest of the top 5 combined . A sleeping Younis is better than most of these 'batsmen' let alone a fasting one.

No point in Sarfaraz tuk tuking too, either make a quickfire 70 or get out trying.

That's besides the point. He should not be fasting while playing for Pakistan and if he lost his concentration because he was getting weary, then it is very unprofessional of him, and I hope the management ensures that players should not be fasting on match days.

How do you know that he got out because he was fasting? Stop trying to show that you are some sort of a genius who knows everything.

The number of times we have toured SL in recent times you would think we would bat better in the conditions then this

This partnership needs to be big!!
We are in a dogfight here.

What is the weather like for the last 2 days?

Seems to me Shafiq's confidence is very low. Doesn't seem to have the same confidence in Tests as he usually does :|
